Wondering about the Sonar 6 feature-set. I'm hoping it includes 100% integration for Yamaha's Studio Connections initiative. A cool thing if you use Yammy gear.

Any word on this?

Will Sonar 6 free upgrade be available to those of us who bought it in the UK. We are unable, I think, to buy from Cakewalk.com, but only from UK distributors such as Edirol or Etcetera. I think those of us in the UK who are constantly drawn to buying a European DAW should be given the same deal.

Hmm my question quicly dropped out of sight so I'll stick it up again: is a 5SE -> 5PE upgrade included in this offer? I.e. if I buy 5PE now (coming from 5SE) will I get 6 for free???

thanks!

Hi Peter

The Cakewalk store is open for UK buyers. I bought Dim pro a while back and it went with no glitches plus the advantage of being pre registered. Give it a whirl. Plus I just noticed they're also giving free shipping to Europe!

Hmmm- did you miss the very first post?

Cakewalk is offering a free upgrade on SONAR 6 when you buy SONAR 5 during the month of August, 2006.

Upgrade to SONAR 5 Studio Edition, Get SONAR 6 Studio Edition Free.

Upgrade to SONAR 5 Producer Edition, Get SONAR 6 Producer Edition Free.

Your free upgrade will be automatically shipped to you within one month of the release of SONAR 6, which will be available later this year.

If you upgraded to SONAR 5 direct from Cakewalk in the month of July, we will be offering you reduced upgrade pricing for a limited time on SONAR 6. We will make more details available about this special upgrade pricing for July's SONAR 5 upgraders at a later date. Stay tuned to the forum for updates.

OK, bear with me here..

I don't see what the benefit is to this deal. I have Sonar 4 Studio Edition. Let's say I upgrade to Sonar 5 SE for $99. Then Sonar 6 comes out and I get that for free. Why wouldn't I just wait for Sonar 6 to come out and upgrade to that for $99? Am I missing something here?

Cakewalk customers worldwide can buy direct from Cakewalk through our estore: http://store.cakewalk.com/. And the SONAR offer this month is available worldwide.

As a SONAR 4 customer, you will no longer have the most recent version of SONAR once SONAR 6 comes out. The best upgrade pricing always goes to customers who own the most recent version. Your upgrade price will go up once SONAR 6 is released. So if you are planning on upgrading, I would suggest doing it this month.

Ahh that makes sense. So for example, a Sonar 5->6 upgrade might be $99, but Sonar 4->6 might cost $149. Correct?

PS: I'd just like to point out, it's $99 to upgrade to Sonar 5 from versions 2, 3, and 4. So I assume there is a change now in the pricing structure for upgrades? Upgrading from Sonar 4 to 6 will cost more than from 5 to 6?

Hi Carl -- I am a P5v2 user and have been saving up $$ to do a (cross-grade?) upgrade to Sonar 5 PE.

Will the upgrade pricing for Sonar 6 PE be similar to what it has been with 5? (Or, more directly, am I looking at the $299 or $349 I have been seeing the last few months, excluding any specials that have run?)

Thanks for the input.

I didn't miss it, just preferred to be absolutely sure (since it doesn't explicitly state that the upgrade FROM Sonar 5SE is a valid upgrade path...it only stated that TO 5PE was valid). Perhaps I was being overtly cautious. The VERY first sentence does say "when you buy Sonar 5 during the month of August, 2006" - I ALREADY own 5, so......

Carl would you mind clarifying this for me?

Ah yes, I suppose I should look at our own pricing structure before I open my big mouth up here :). We changed the pricing for version 5 upgrades to make owners of the previous 2 versions eligible for top tier pricing. We are currently hammering out the details for the version 6 upgrade pricing, and I will make a point to answer this question correctly for you in the coming days.

Anyone who purchased in July got SONAR 5 at a discount that ranged from $20-$50. If you notice, those discounted prices are now gone, and the upgrade prices have been raised to their pre-July levels. The special offer on SONAR 6 that we will be making to SONAR 5 customers who purchased in July will be to sell you your SONAR 6 upgrade for the difference in price. So if you purchased SONAR 5 last month at a $50 discount, you will get an offer on SONAR 6 for $50.

Yay! I upgraded to S5PE in July fully aware that the "free next version"-deal was around the corner. But i had wanted some features in S5PE for so long that I couldn't resist the offer and decided that if the upgrade was too expensive for July-buyers I would just back off for a while. Thanks! Very generous and much appreciated!
Now I just have to convince my wife that I need to upgrade again.

Nimitiz, not sure if you saw my earlier post in this thread:

Hello,

I see a few people here are upset about purchasing SONAR in July, because we now have the "Free upgrade to Version 6 with your SONAR 5 upgrade" offer going on in August. We have an offer coming for you that should make you feel a little better.

This offer will be sent out when we start pre-selling SONAR 6.
