ORIGINAL: Jesse G Hey Cakewalk Carl, How about throwing in a half price offer for the Frontier Design Transport with the Sonar 5 PE to Sonar 6 PE upgrade.. Whew, I could sure use an incentive to upgrade since my pocket holes are growing larger and larger. Peace Jesse, Wish I could do that for you, but we have a Minimum Price that we are allowed to sell the transport at. We cannot sell it any lower than we currenly do.

this is very tempting! But I skipped version 5 hoping that version 6 would include some of the features that the users have requested. And just as I was ready to make the payment, I see the post that says that the new features cannot be made public yet. I could get free updates all the way up to version 10, it wouldn't make much difference for me if 2 or 3 things that I have requested (and many others ) are not in there. Carl, can I send you a PM with a quesiton on this particular feature? I swear I won't tell anyone! Just a joke, of course, I know you can't do it... Is there any chance then that a list of new features will be available by the end of August?

TTOZ, Sorry for the late reply. I was not avoiding your question, just waiting for answers. After your message, I noticed the special is not listed on the Intelliware site. I have an inquiry out about this and will reply when I have an answer. I'm sorry that I did not send you this message when I read your question.

What about your loyal customers who purchase your upgrades as soon as they come out? I'd like to know the answer to that one too... Phoenix, Customers who purchase upgrades as soon as they come out get the benefit of using the software a full year ahead of customers who wait. Anyone who is buying SONAR 5 now, missed out on using it for the last 10 months. In addition if you stay current with the latest version of the software, you are always eligible for the best pricing that we offer when the new version comes out. It is common practice in software sales to increase the value of upgrade offers toward the end of the life cycle of a product version.

Sorry, Carl, I do understand. I guess what jayhill meant was that reading the post heading made it sound like new purchasers were getting the best of the deal. I know if I had not previously owned Sonar, and bought it now, that I'd be spending much more than $189. But some extra discounts or freebies for us early adopters (some might say "guinea pigs") would sure be nice!

Wow! this thread is getting l-o-n-g-e-r and longer! Carl, any heads up date on the S6P release? I bought S5P when it came out... paid my best $$ for it. I'll pay for S6P, like any avid cakewalk customer (i guess....). Just tell me when to get a look at the cake website. day? month? Thanks,

Even though, as a Sonar Producer 4 owner, this offer is VERY tempting, I don't really like to buy something I know nothing about. Yes, I know I actually will buy v5 and get v6 for free, but still, I didn't buy v5 because it just didn't bring what I needed at the time. Now I do not know what v6 will bring: will it be worthwhile for me (I'm sure it will be worthwhile for a LOT of people, but I'm just thinking about myself now .) So my question is: Will the feature set of v6 be published before this upgrade offer is over? Will we know what v6 will bring before August ends? Or will Cakewalk wait with releasing ANY info until the offer is over? (I don't hope so because that might mean Cakewalk is afraid the new stuff won't be worth the money for a lot of users... )

That they have no option for purchase by new customers, only upgrades for existing one. 3. They are marketing it as being also for Win2000 ... or are they? - System Requirements: Minimum: Windows 2000, Intel Pentium 4 1.3GHz / AMD Athlon XP 1500+, 128MB Ram, 100MB Hard Disk Space, Any Windows compatible audio soundcard Recommended: Windows XP/x64, Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz / AMD Athlon 64 2800+, 512MB Ram, Multiple GBs Hard Disk Space, WDM or ASIO compatible Sound Card Please Note: SONAR 5 does not support Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, or 2000. Website ordering issue

ORIGINAL: Carl Jacobson [Cakewalk] Monzer1971, Please send me a private message describing in detail what problems you are experiencing on our E-Store. We have not been getting any reports that the store is not functioning, and we have a regular stream of orders coming in. Once I receive your message I will forward it to our IT dept so they can look into the problems you are experiencing. Hey Carl, I'd PM this to you, but I can't see how to do that... The on-line form that you guys are using on your site allows me to enter more characters in the "address" field for mailing or billing than your backend database will accept. This was generating an error message for me when I was trying to order Sonar 5 over the last few months. Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e21' Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done. /checkout.asp, line 141 Anyhow, I was able to place the order by taking the end of my first long address line, and putting it in the next field under it. This issue literally stopped me from ordering my upgrade for months, but I finally figured it out. Sure I coulda phoned the order in, but I'm not much of a phone person :)

I thought forums were there to help and impart knowledge to those of us who aren't sure about things. Hi Peter, Well it looks as if the answer to my question is YES about not having to buy direct, so IF the person replying to me was talking down, he now gets to eat his words and attitude. I say IF because as I've looked back at the post I realize that maybe I misinterpreted. Computer talk can be funny and misinterpreted I've experienced. Most folks here seem like cool decent helpful well-intentioned people. I think all forums have wankers who love to talk down, strut, belittle, provoke, get into pissing matches, etc. My hope is that any moderators here nip it fast. I want this to be a place where I can ask questions and get help--AFTER doing research to try to answer the questions and help myself--and not get slammed. Eventually, after I gain experience, I hope to help others. And forums are all run differently it seems.
