I just upgraded to Sonar 5 on 07/20, so I'm not exactly thrilled by the offer of "reduced upgrade pricing" to upgrade to Sonar 6.

as soon as I get paid this friday. I was contemplating getting the upgrade for $179 whenit was just an upgrade from S4S to S5P. But now for $50 more I can get an upgrade to S6P whe it comes out too!? I am somewhat reluctant to upgrade since I have only recently gotten EVERYTHING in my studio working together the way I like it. But I figure the worse that can happen has probabaly already occurred to someone else here who uses it. My other reservation is that my computer currently KILLS. Between the Powercore card, the raided drives and the dula core I havent hit any cielings yet when I am making my tunes. Heres to hoping my system still screams on 5 (and 6)
Sonar 7.0.3, Mattel Synsonics, Motu 828MKII (BLA), TC-powercore, Stillwell plugins, Moog MG1, Korg Poly 800, DX27s, Moogerfooger Lowpass, Ovation Magnum, Stingray fretless, Mesa Bass 400, Waldorf Edition, DBA fuzz war, Summit 2BA221, etc

ORIGINAL: calaverasgrandes I am somewhat reluctant to upgrade since I have only recently gotten EVERYTHING in my studio working together the way I like it. I've been using Cakewalk / Sonar since Cakewalk 6, and I've always just installed the new version without uninstalling the previous. They always seem to co-exist happily enough. I've just done this going from 4 to 5 in fact. Never had a problem doing it this way, and I've always had the previous version to go back to if there were any bugs that were causeing serious workflow problems in the new one.

Hehehe, I come from Cakewalk Pro Audio 4 !!!!! and every year I upgraded to the new version. Every year, I install the new one and I keep the old one with no problems at all... The old version goes away when I change the pc or I format (for various reasons) .... and so, not so frequently. Bye Giorgio

It sure appears that your marketing strategy of this upgrade offer caters to the UNLOYAL customer base that you have. What about your loyal customers who purchase your upgrades as soon as they come out?

Hello, I see a few people here are upset about purchasing SONAR in July, because we now have the "Free upgrade to Version 6 with your SONAR 5 upgrade" offer going on in August. We have an offer coming for you that should make you feel a little better. Anyone who purchased in July got SONAR 5 at a discount that ranged from $20-$50. If you notice, those discounted prices are now gone, and the upgrade prices have been raised to their pre-July levels. The special offer on SONAR 6 that we will be making to SONAR 5 customers who purchased in July will be to sell you your SONAR 6 upgrade for the difference in price. So if you purchased SONAR 5 last month at a $50 discount, you will get an offer on SONAR 6 for $50. This offer will be sent out when we start pre-selling SONAR 6.

Monzer1971, Please send me a private message describing in detail what problems you are experiencing on our E-Store. We have not been getting any reports that the store is not functioning, and we have a regular stream of orders coming in. Once I receive your message I will forward it to our IT dept so they can look into the problems you are experiencing.

Is this valid if you upgrade from 5SE to 5PE in August???? I'm thinking PowR dither + v-vocal + Version 6 might be well worth the current upgrade SE-PE price for that move....

What if i bought sonar5 like 6 months ago? same $180 as always? Come On! Don't feel bad. I got caught up in a timing issue like this last year by a matter of a week, tops, and Cake refused to do anything for me. Even after I got on the phone and tried to talk to a real human being about it. Shortly after I boned up another deal on Project 5 and all told spent over $300 more than I needed to. It's gotten to the point where I'm afraid to buy anything from Cake that wasn't released yesterday.
