Sure hope it'll be Monday, 'cause the Garritan website apparently states "February".

Well, that could work out, since Monday is February 1st.
It does seem very odd that Make Music and Garritan pages don't say much at all about GPO5.
Ah, fret_man.... I guessed as much after trying to find it for sale in the US.

I didn't see anything that required my serial # to qualify for the upgrade price. I'm sure I'll need it later, but perhaps I misunderstood Sid.

It looks like the release has been delayed. It's saying mid Feb instead of Feb 1st. That's a bit anooying, but hopefully everything is ok and it won't take too long to be released.

In the Time&Space order confirmation email they asked me for my serial.

Where are you seeing this release news?
@Fleer     It seems very odd that I didn't get asked that. I was ready for it, too. LOL
I'd copied my serial and then it never came up. I created an account and bought the upgrade.
Oh well.

Time&Space now also states 'mid-February'.
Pentimento, his is what they wrote in that confirmation letter:
"Thank you for purchasing Garritan Personal Orchestra 5 UPGRADE (Download) (GPO5UP-120) from Time+Space.
Please note that this product is not due for release until 1st February 2016 so your serial number will be emailed to you as soon as we receive them from Garritan/Make Music.
To save time, please send us your previous Garritan GPO4 serial number. Please email us via websales@timespace.com or simply reply to this email."

You should have received two emails from Time+Space after your purchase.

One was the order confirmation, and the other, the instructions for sending in your serial.  For the latter, the subject line was "Garritan Personal Orchestra 5 UPGRADE (Download) - Serial Number / Activation Code".

Edit...Never mind, I just saw Fleer's helpful post above.

Interesting... in that second email from T+S I have this: "For validation, you must enter your Upgrade serial into the same Garritan user account as your previous GPO4 registration".   IOW, I would validate at Garritan.

You will not receive an Upgrade Serial until Garritan is ready to release GPO5. You will have to use that number to register GPO5 just as you registered GPO4. Those numbers won't go out until the release.

My response from Time&Space was that the serial # would not be needed by them at all. I will only be entering it when dealing with Garritan after the GPO5 release, when I try to download/authorize it.

Is this a popular software music sales company for US buyers?  I would like the GPO5, but want to make sure that I get it at the reduced price £82.50 ($117.50).    Amazon has GPO4 for $117.34.  I recently dl'd the trial Steinberg Orchestral ($99) which doesn't seem bad, but with the new GPO5 being released, I'd rather go for that.  Can't really afford much more.

As long as I can get it mid-month, it would be fine.  Just leary about buying stuff overseas if I ever have to deal with consumer issues... and how long will the dl take for 16Gb, lol?

edit, FYI... i registered at their site and they offer a 2Gb sample pack free as a new customer... I got it and they use a special 'Connect' software that manages the dl... worked pretty fast.

Time&Space are quite trustworthy. No worries.
Make sure you indicate your US address, so you won't pay tax.
Download duration depends on your connection as well as Garritan's.

IDK Michael, I got the same email requesting my serial # from GPO4 from Time and Space as all the others too.

And I agree with Fleer about T&S being reputable. No worries with them.

I have no concerns about Time & Space. Their email said that they started asking for the serial #, but after sorting it with Garritan, they no longer have to, since you cannot download GPO5 from Garritan without one. We won't be downloading it from Time & Space, anyway.

It does seem like somebody could buy it, that doesn't have GPO4 and then not be able to get GPO5, but those folks create their own messes, anyway.

Thanks for that link, Mack. A little munch of info to tide us over, through the next 2 weeks, is nice.
Yeah, kitekrazy1, I found out about the Aria update here, so I just installed that, myself.
Maybe there are more little nibbles to come, while we wait. Time & Space sent an email this morning regarding the "mid Feb" delay.
Michael

ps Here is the email that I got in response from Time & Space (regarding whether I should send them my GPO4 serial)

Thank you for your order and for getting in touch.
There was some confusion our end when GPO5 first went on sale.
With many of our upgrades we require the customers to send in their existing serial for validation.
However we have since found out that the validation will take place on the Garritan website when entering the upgrade serial number. There is no need to send over the serial to us.

Best regards,
Jed

Wow a lot of sample demos. Sure seems worthy of the renewal price.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

I am still skeptical - first, Garritan has been known to miss delivery dates by years, not months, and second, the original GOS was awesome, and somewhat larger than the entire GPO5... think I'm going to wait this time and let some of you all be the trail blazers...

In my opinion, Garritan PO4 is wonderful. Most orchestra software is so expensive. With patience I finally have been over the years, able to get some nice sounding strings and such. It takes the right amount of reverb and proper layering of sounds and subtle pitch wheel usage. I also have Instant Orchestra. GPO5 looks like a great affordable update for those of us that can't afford to spend hundreds of dollars on orchestra software.😀

Re: Garritan Personal Orchestra 5 Video 2016/02/03 14:59:27 (permalink)
GPO seems to fit the bill a lot better with modern music, Pop, Rock, Country, Hip-Hop, etc. In my use of Miroslav it exceeds in ballads and quasi-classical music. I am glad to have both in my arsenal and they both see action quite a bit. I never really felt, judging from the demos, that the other libraries out there were worth the amount of money they ask for. As someone who does his own sampling from time to time, I do understand the time and cost involved to do something the size of an orchestra. I don't begrudge them any at all about that. It's just that in most music we listen now doesn't really have need for any other articulations than you get in a smaller, less expensive library. I may take a shot one day at paying for a membership to try one of their competetors out but for right now I'm pretty happy with GPO, Miroslav 2, and LSO.

... the original GOS was awesome, and somewhat larger than the entire GPO5...

True, but what is GOS doing for them now?  Nada.  GOS was great for its time, but can't compare to some of the mid to high end string libraries of today, so re-purposing it to substantially improve GPO makes a lot of sense.  Assuming they didn't botch it up, the already popular GPO should become even more popular.

That was the point of GPO.  He took some flack from other developers for doing such a thing.  Oddly enough one of the developers has sales on their libraries all of the time.
