I am just getting ready to update to 2.5 today. Makes me wonder why they would just release a 2.5 if 3.0 was around the corner unless 2.5 is just a testing bed for the improved VST handling process.

That's a good point Tuck..(point and tuck - ) I'm hoping that Mixbus 3.0 get's the Ardour 64 bit and MIDI handling... that's a major step forward for the program if it does...

Even at this "no-brainer" pricing deal, would you guys spend the time to learn it and use it instead of using Sonar? Or is it just another way to feed a GAS addiction?

I had a lengthy discussion regarding this Mesh. Needless to say...I probably sold a ZILLION of these for Harrison and made a lot of converts. Mind you, it's still 32 bit and no MIDI support. There is a "sound" that this DAW produces that is the closest to High End "analogue" I've heard. It just SOUNDS NICE AND PLEASANT. The way something mixed on a High End Console does. Don't know how they do it...but they do it... Can you replace Sonar with it? NO (not yet anyways) Does it have a USE? YES! It is a great place to do "the final mix or Master". IMO...it's worth the $219 price just for the "sound". AT $19...it's a STEAL. Download it, import a raw track. Listen to the Track "Outside" of Mixbus... Then "Inside" Mixbus. The rest is up to you...

First piece of (music related) software I buy in almost a year. Even in I'm 99.99% sure I won't use it because I usually push the concept of ITB to its ultimate limits and stick to my DAW and its plug-ins. For that 0.01% of chances that I might simply want to mess with it, and considering that I'd been wanting to check it out again for the last couple of days, $20 was just too much of a deal to pass. Never spend more for an acquisition than you have to, dixit the Ferengi Rule of Acquisition # 3. :P Thanks for posting it, Stephen. :)

I still want a DAW that sounds a cool as Mixbus, is as flexible as Sonar, has the timeline features from DP, audio editing from Sound Forge and Wavelab, and expression maps from Cuebendo... but it does not exist. So I use different tools for different tasks.
I really like Mixbus, but I don't use it as much as I used to because the x86 vs x64 thing has become more of a hassle than I care to deal with. Maybe I'm just lazy???

It comes with a couple...but Harrison uses the LV2 format ...so they can't be used outside of Mixbus, but you CAN use your 32 bit VST effects IN Mixbus....

I jumped on this deal. I'm hoping that the update to 3 is close enough behind that it is a freebie. Heck, twenty dollars will at least rest my curiousity. I have read so many reviews about how close this DAW sounds to analog. Finally, I'll find out. It would be interesting to hear from all the guys out there using Mixbus with Sonar. If there are any.

I tried the demo in early 2012 to mix a couple of demos of mine. Th great thing is that, if you use it in conjonction w/ your DAW of choice, it forces you to make the distinction between the writing/recording/arranging process and the actual mix; export each track to .wav and mix it from scratch. And that can really help you focus on the actual mix instead of constantly going back and re-recording and arranging. The ergonomics are terrific (though this might not be much of a deal for Sonar users because you guys have the Pro Channel stuff integrated into the console. My experience of it was that it was very easy to create a good sounding mix. The not so great thing, if you use it in conjonction w/ your DAW of choice, it forces you to make the distinction between the writing/recording/arranging process and the actual mix. And if like me you're a jack of all trades, writing, recording, sequencing, arranging and mixing your own music, by the time you reach the actual mix phase, you have a bunch of busses created ad tracks routed to them, and you most likely already started using plug-ins to EQ, compress and further process that stuff on the fly. You've probably frozen a bunch of tracks, you may have loops here and there, and you have processing going on in real-time that's actually an integral part of the arrangement. That's how most of my own projects en up, hence the reason I hesitated for a minute - but for $20, I'm sure I'll find something I can do with it.

this software looks very interesting ….sweet deal …. no midi right now …thats OK … I'm guessing that this mixing platform might be very useful for me I like to jump around using different DAWs … I might start something in SONAR and bring it over to Logic or the other way around as audio / midi files sort of gives me the best of both worlds …w synths and plugs ….Yin and Yang I like to mix a pure audio project separate from my parent project (synths and busses ) and compare the two mixes ….. my question to anybody that has this is what type of files can you import into it ? and what type of files does it handle Kenny

I was thinking the same.. by the time the project is almost done, it's all merged with effects and buses. Will live recording be easier using Mixbus ? Also for ACR users (I'm not).. will the process purify Mixbus color ?

I don't recall seeing the option. On Mac, you can use it w/ JACK to route audio from your DAW through the Harrison mixer.
