It seems to me that the guy also needs a Wikipedia entry. But for that, I guess you'd have to find out a bit more about his history from his family.

I made some small changes. I added the fact that we are a divergent group and what that means in this case. It tries to emphasized the unprecedented coming together that this forum has shown over this news.

Thanks Keith again.

it would be nice if cake could find a way some how to put his name in concrete around here somewhere.
he dedicated alot of time here helping people including myself.
i feel like a real jerk because one of the last things i said to billy was:
"why isnt this in the coffee house"
it was the Robin Gibb thread he had started that probably hit so close to home.

it was billys last thread and its well worth a read.

Yeah..it is hitting pretty hard here...I'm fighting the bloody thing myself. But I'll be doing well.

Charlie you have nothing to feel bad about. You could not have known about his situation. No one did. He kept it from us for a reason. We have to respect that.

Further he would have liked it that you were treating him as if everything were fine. And for that time he was fine on this forum. That is what you must remember.

I understand how you feel man, but one thing I remember about Billy is that he could have a heated discussion w/ someone and still respect and appreciate them (as the Cakewalk staff pointed out earlier.) He didn't carry grudges, even if he sure as heck could hold his ground in an argument. :)

Thanks chuckebaby.  There's a lovely quote by Billy himself in that post, which is now my signature.

Thank you to the poster that put the zip file of Billys music here.  I listened to it yesterday and was very impressed with Billy's skills as a musician.  Though I cant say as I knew him personally here I do know that I read a LOT of his posts in various threads... and that he did help a lot of us out with his keen insight.
Its always sad when we lose someone... even moreso when its someone we know cares about what we do.

Thank you, Billy :)

Well, I guess I can confirm what we've all dreaded hearing.  As I mentioned earlier, I emailed the guy who wrote the eulogy on the youtube vid and he got back to me to confirm that, yes, it is the same Billy.

That brings a tear to my eye...
Billy and I butted heads a couple of times, but he was always respectful and a genuine good guy.
He was a forum member for as long as I can remember...
Billy, you'll certainly be missed.  RIP

I've read a few times in this thread that Billy was passionate about his positions but respectful to others at the same time.  That is my impression as well.  In addition, Billy always seemed to be the voice or reason in any heated debate here on the forum.  I also PM'd back and forth with Billy on several occasions asking for advice and just to bounce ideas off him.  He always responded kindly and with very thoughtful feedback.

I will miss him here...R.I.P Billy

I am sorry but if you wish your name to be on the letter please post it in the BA Midi letter thread. It is easier for me to add it from there. Again I am sorry for this.

I plan to contact CW tomorrow Friday to see if they can send the letter via US Mail to the family. If they can not I will do so, all I need is the address.

To me this thread and the outpouring in it is the forum's finest hour.

Wow, yes that last thread of Billy's is quite poignant in retrospect. Having suffered from the 'Big C' myself in 2010 his comments in his own thread are very true. It is a very random thing and everyone has to handle it in their own unique way.
