LOL Craig...

Herb I still have 8.5.3- 64 bit on the same machine.

"Dead in the water" was referring to using X2.
I'm definately one that knows how to skin a cat many ways.

I appreciate the encouragement.

I like trying to push the envelope. Seeing all the new and improved...sometimes
it just doesn't fly right the first time....sometimes it'll never fly.
Time will tell the story.

I have seen it before and will probably see it again....all those that it runs so perfect for
and then they'll put out a list of all the fixes and amazingly enough...not one of all those
problems effected them...yeah right. I happen to know who they are too. I haven't been
sleeping since before 2004.

Hey Michael. I don't know if you've seen this but I thought you might at least be interested in throwing it in the mix. I don't mean to stir the pot. I just think it may be something to think about. I don't pretend to know the answers and I dont know the OP... but the post is interesting.

I've read through the whole thread, admiring everyone's helpfulness and empathy, but keep wondering: why so attached to Xx? Let it go. There was no mourning when I abandoned X1, no remorse for being left behind with yesterday's software. I love making music too much to worry about such things.

I even know people who use truly ancient technology and still  manage to make great records. We're talking about dishwasher-sized machines with whirly things on top.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Dave it's not a question of attachment. It's the first project I've had a chance to do with X2.

The OP was to address a comment. An explanation of why I agreed about the comment and how it came about to be posted.

I sure like X2 and would really like it if it didn't give me fits. Attached....no not yet. I hope they
get it so I can become attached to it though.

"Let it go"....well that defeats the porpose of purchasing it to use but yeah....no choice if it doesn't work now, is there?

Unless you mean don't mention it. Well to late for that. Even if I didn't.....plenty of more saying they
had the bad experience.

"Worry"....not worried about it either David. I really thought that I'd mentioned that "dead in my tracks" was in reference to X2. I don't like going backwards but if I have to...can do.
Now I might be a little worried if I didn't have other means to record but worried about X2?....I think Cake should be worried or at least focused on trying to resolve it's issues.

And I sure agree with you. Recording and making music is just in our blood....we have to do that and I hope some day you and I get to do something together. We could use tape too....wouldn't matter to me. :)

I've been using both Vegas and Sonar together for a long, long time. If
Sony makes the move...no doubt which road I'll take.

Spacey

which version of Vegas do you use....I have been trying to decide between Power Director or Vegas......
Which would you recommend and which version...??

Thanks
Clifford

Vegas Pro 12.

Absolutely amazing for video editing.

I go back a long way with Vegas too. I'm sure glad because
for years it was great not only for my video endeavors (which aren't worth mentioning)
but also for finalizing my audio projects.
I loved being able to export Sonar works into Vegas. It made it easy to get
the different formats and also the redbook CD/DVD stuff done.

I'm a firm believer that they could very easily be the ones holding the axe that
could eliminate most all of the audio camps stuff.
Should they decide to include audio editing and midi....they'd shake the place up.

BUT...it's software. One has to be ready to deal with that LOL.

And you sure want to check out what the versions do. Pro 12 is the top shelf. You may
not want or need it's capabilities. It's intense too. Have to turn around that cap.

Never like to hear of problems with software that cause this kind of grief.Sorry that your having these kinds of problems Spacey.

It is entirely up to you how much more of an investment you want to put into something that hasn't fared so well. In either case problems never seem to completely go away.

FWIW maybe a going over by a music computer guru would solve the problems you are having. I tend to think it would likely help a lot. Maybe you have already done that.

Now due to the personal risk to my person I am going to do something-

* removes himself to a respectable safe location about 50ft. away behind a concrete wall, pokes head out just enough to get the words out..*

I must be very fortunate indeed. I have had almost no problems with the X's on my win7 64 bit machine...* peeks around wall...OMG here come the tomatoes!!!*....hey man I didn't say I don't believe that you're having problems!! I'm not necessarily a fanboy here, no I'm not a paid stooge.. I put my stuff in and it seems to be working for the most part. I might even upgrade to win 8 and X2a a little later on..* looks around corner...Oh heck here come the rocks!!*

I better clear out of this joint, but I do understand the frustration when something doesn't work. I hope you get the problems cleared up so we can hear some more music. I don't deny that a fair number of people are having similar issues. Best of luck to you Spacey.

Spacey
thanks
I was not looking at the Vegas Pro version...a bit too much for me especially since I am new at the video thing. I've done a few simple movies in Win. Movie Maker and like it but it is very limited.....and just wanted to expand it a bit and thought that Vegas may just be the ticket.....

so I was looking at the vegas version Movie Studio Platinum for $124 price break......this kind of seems like it will have everything I would need......Kind of between a pro version and bottom of the barrel version.....

I also did think about that audio stuff beacuse I still want CD Architect and was thinking that this might fill the bill for both....

Just my thoughts.
thanks for the info Sir....

Star there are so many variables with this stuff it's just a mess.

I posted to explain what happened and why a guitar part is the way it is.

I agree with you...."maybe" this, maybe that.

Maybe the ones that know could explain what it is about the computers that
were perfectly capable of running 64 bit 8.5 that can't handle 64 bit X2.
That would be a good start if that is the basis for all the issues.

Clifford I recommended it because I use it. I would think that other versions that
fit ones needs would surely perform. Sony seems to know video very well.
