Already did my pre-order. With all the changes in X1, I figured I need to get a better look at more of it's possibilities. When I pre-ordered through Amazon it was estimating arrival on March 2nd.

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!

Thanks Ben and Sean! I appreciate your support too.

Yeah, lots of changes this time around. I'm looking forward to the book's release too.

By the way, Ben... very cool app you're doing there. I've only had a quick chance to check it out, but I find it amazing that you can do all those things from outside of the SONAR application. How is that possible? Just curious...

I already have mine ordered.  There's something simplistic yet effective about a book.  No batteries, wires, screens, etc.  Just a Book that kinda lays there and waits to be ravished by me.

It could be that Safari Books need to be in PDF format and the SONAR Power books are no longer available in that format starting with SONAR 6 Power. The reason for this is because the PDF was being posted all over the Internet, which hurts sales quite a bit.

The Kindle and Nook formats are protected, so it's much easier for the publisher to support those formats, since they know they won't lose sales.

Yes, but you still have to buy this sh&$#y reader, whih is rather xpensive, doesn't make sense to buy it just for one book, doesn't have large and clour screen...
Any ideas how to get rid of it?
If I have to read e-books I prefer my laptop or touch-PC.

Thanks Phoenix, Donald, and Adrian for your support and I hope you enjoy the book!

Adrian -- You don't need the reader to get the book in ebook format. Amazon lets you read Kindle books on a PC. You can use Amazon's Kindle for PC reader to read it.

Scott,

I own other Sonar Power books from you and they are top notch.  I'm curious as to how you wrote this one and would like a little bit of an understanding (to see if it will be productive for me or not).  Being a long time Sonar user, the transition to the new workflow requires a bit of a change to the way some of us have been using the app.  Do you have any sections in the book that speak to transitioning from Sonar 8.5.3 (or earlier) to this new workflow?

I know it is probably pretty challenging to write a book that would help brand new users to Sonar get the most out of it, but also help us who've been around a while get the most out of X1.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom and Pat... thanks very much! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed my SONAR 8 Power book. I hope you'll enjoy the new X1 book as well.

Tom -- The book is designed more like a book, rather than a manual. To get the most out of it, you should read it from cover to cover. There's no one section that lists all the commands that have changed from 8.5 to X1. Instead, each chapter covers a different aspect of the software and all the information has been presented according to the new features in X1. So, it may take some time to get through the book, but reading through the entire thing will definitely be worth it.

Thanks!

Ha! Your guess is as good as mine. I'm just excited to see that they're both almost here!

Also excited about my upcoming DVD, but still have work to do on that...

Hey JM...

What's SX? Do you mean the X1b update? If so, then I compensated for most of the changes in the update. Only a few minor things didn't make it into the book and those are documented on the book's errata page. Go to my site, click on the SONAR X1 Power link, and then click on the Errata link to see the corrections... http://garrigus.com/?PowerBooks

Thanks!

I just purchased my copy on Amazon.

Be careful of the temptation regarding "Amazon Prime".  It costs $80 per year, but allows you to forego shipping costs for Amazon purchases.

If you buy a lot of stuff in a year, it can be worthwhile.

But if not, then it's just another endless subscription fee in an endless sea of endless subscription fees...

As always, buyer beware.

Scott, will there be any way to get an extra break on the "Kindle" copy if we buy the softcover. I really would like to have it in both formats so I am wondering if you could do some kind of package deal, or is it out of your hands as far as the PDF or whatever it is for an e-reader

Thanks,

Hey Colin...

Yeah, unfortunately, retailers outside the US get the book later because the publisher is a US company.

By the way, just so you know... Amazon.com does ship outside the US so you could have ordered from there. I've heard from other people that they're aren't any extra fees for this either.

Thanks!

Hey Julien,

That is totally up to Amazon. They are a retailer and any retailer can sell the book at any price they like... neither I nor the publisher has any control over that. So Amazon would have to come up with some kind of bundle price or something. You could contact them and ask, but I've never seen them do it before.

Thanks!
