First: Jun, I send best wishes to you and your country. I do think of Japan every day since the great tragedy. All of Japan is in my prayers daily now.

I reckon I'm one of the lucky ones using SONAR X1a... it's made me a lot of money and all my recordins are sounding better than ever.

I had enormous problems with the next to last revision of SONAR 8.5... it was a series of conditions that harked back to the early days of Pro Audio!!!

SO the guys and gals at Cakewalk/Roland dug into the heart of the matter and through a LOT of research, discovered the exact conditions causing my problem!!! It was one of the greatest customer service experiences I've ever had. Many of the factors they discovered went into 8.5.3 from what I understand....

So I always think of how the company worked so hard to help me... and now that I've worked a lot with SONAR X1a... I just love the darn thing!!!

And I must admit... I really feel bad for all the folks that have problems with it... It is possibly one of the most frustrating things in the world when it happens, but I know the product will be better because a lot of these guys aren't bashful about telling the Cakewalk folks about it!!! And I'll put my money on the Cakewalk folks to make it right!!!

Again Jun I know everyone that's posted to this thread will join me in sending all the best wishes to you and yours... I do hope you are as well as you can be.

I love this thread. It is wonderful to see such courtesy in action.

Dear Jun - I too send my best wishes and regards to you and your fellow citizens. In relation to X1, I've left it alone until it becomes more stable and have only been playing around with it. Pro Channel is nice and some of the layout changes are quite good - screensets, multi-dock etc. I don't mind re-learning some things so that is ok too.

Which ever way you end up going - staying with Sonar v5, moving to v8.5.3, going up to X1 or crossing to the dark side - I wish you luck.

Regards,

Q.

Dear all,

Thank you very much for your comments about X1 and warm messages concerning the recent earthquake with tsunami and nuclear plant accident in Japan.

Sorry to be late in reply.  I have been ok as well as my family and friends in Tokyo.

As for the most emergent status for the nuclear plants, though first I was confused because everyone was confused, I now correctly understand mSv, μSv, and they are absolute values, the difference from the flow rate of mSv/h, then grasp the rough situation surrounding the influence of the tsunami to the plant.

I think it is not likely to have a critical situation in Tokyo, with which we have to evacuate from Tokyo.

As for X1, I think there is no clear-cut, yes-or-no answer to it.  As I said it before, I will wait X1b considering my personal situation.  Thank you again for all your input that help me a lot.

Sincerely yours,

Jun Yamamoto

How am I doing with X1?---  Fine - It sits in my computer gathering dust until it's fixed.  When the new patch comes out, I'll grit my teeth and invest yet more time to see if X1 and I can get along - too many show stoppers first time around, that's why I'm still in 8.5, and I'll  stick with that if X1 never gets up to speed.

I am very glad you are OK! My daughter was going to be performing in Tokyo as part of a world tour. Unfortunately the Japanese leg was cancelled. I am sure they will go back when the situation is more stable. Seems we are all waiting for X1B, but let's keep everything in perspective.

Hello Jun...

...here in Portland, Oregon...
just finished recording vocals for a project and read your message

A great way to end the day knowing you and your family are safe.

X1a performs admirably especially on this remake of an old Jimi Hendrix piece titled "Room Full of Mirrors"...
running Perfect Space reverb on the vocals is just right to capture the sound o the original...

I do hope you are able to enjoy everything in your life as conditions improve in your suroundings...

Be Safe & Be Well

Good to see you here, Randy.

Thank you for your input.  I think I wait until X1b and I can try it in a shop somewhere in Tokyo.  In particular, I am concerned with the usability of MIDI data handling.

Sincerely,

Jun Yamamoto

Thank you, Somerset.

I do hope everything goes to normal in Tokyo soon but, as I see the situation, people seems to be doing the same things as they did in the case of Three Mile or Chernobyl all round once again.  So that, it will take some time, like a year or two.  I think about a half of the troubles is stemmed from unreasonable fear to the nuclear plant.

Thank you, musec07,

The earthquake and tsunami are gone but still the nuclear plant is grizzling.  I think it will not cause any really serious problems but we have to be careful about handling the accident.  It may take a rather long time...
