'Cause it's there, and it was sold to him as a working plug-in? Doh! That Cakewalk Amp Sim is a great sounding plug. Especially if you run your guitar through a tube pre and comp before going in to it. I've actually been using it more than Guitar Rig 4 lately. I slap it on a track along with the Sonitus Delay, Modulator, and Reverb. Sounds really really good. That last song I posted, "Strange Instrumental", was done with just the Amp Sim. And it sucks up significantly less resources than GR4.
So, you're saying that it works and doesn't crash your system every time you try to insert it?

So does it work or doesn't it?
I think the problem lies deeper on Papabears system. And yes, I can make the Amp Sim crash, every time. There is a track template that has it and a couple Sonitus VST's in it. Every single time I load it, I get a hard crash with an actual blue screen, which is very rare for Windows 7. If I go in and manually add the Amp Sim and the Sonitus VST's, it works fine. There's just something with that one particular template that came preloaded with X1.
I know. Cakewalk sold you a different X1 than they sold to others.  That's why your ProChannel is quirky!
The OP got the good ProChannel, but the buggy Amp Sim. The secret must lie in the flickering splash screen.
I can't wait til I discover my individual bug!

I sure wish they would sell us all the same product!
I know your kidding around, ha ha. :) BUT ... it is very true that the Pro Channel is quirky on some machines and not others. Unfortunately, the magic combination has not been found to repeatedly duplicate the problem so it can be solved.

I didn't see anything wrong with my post. It looked like Papabear was getting put in his place, and I know how he feels so I kind of took his part a little.

Rather than respond to me though, it would have been nice if Ryan addressed the fact that the guy watched the video on multiple computers and they all saw the flickering, yet Cakewalk can't see it on theirs. But hey, I'll be the bad guy here.

I know that this is the reality - and I know some people understand that there is just no way to replicate every user's system (who knows what is lurking on each PC?!?) and I also know that everyone has the right and reasonable expectation that the product(s) should work as advertised.

I just started to prattle on, but i won't. It's unfortunate that so many know that Cakewalk is so much more responsive than many of the other big guys - I can't help but wonder if expectations of entitlement get in the way of thinking logically.  My 2. Peace!

Entitlement? I've always thought that entitlement meant you feel like you are owed something for free, the term usually used to describe people on government assistance programs, most of whom don't need it, so I'm a little confused by your use of the term.

From my point of view, can't speak for the OP, I spent around $3,000 between the software and dedicated hardware to run X1 specifically. To me, it's common sense to expect something to work that was sold to you, as apposed to given, like the term entitlement implies.

I've definitely been the most vocal about the Pro Channel problem, but if you do some reading back to the beginning of the X1 forum, you'll see a lot of others have seen problems with it too, some in a pro studio environment running machines made by professionals specifically for X1. There's threads, not started by me, asking if anyone has seen problems with the Pro Channel.

Since I've been the most vocal and aggressive at trying to get it fixed, I seem to get singled out like I have a broken system and I'm the only one seeing problems with the Pro Channel. That's not the case at all. What makes it even worse is, there are people here who perpetuate that lie knowing full well I'm not the only one who has seen problems with the Pro Channel.

Anyway, not a big deal. Everything's cool as far as I'm concerned. Just giving my 2 bits as well. Let's hope X2 rolls out soon and makes everyone happy.

Have a good day ...

Bub.

No, just something you feel you are owed (or entitled to) or actually owed or entitled to. Sometimes, the terms of what is "owed" or "expected to be provided" are not agreed upon, or differ for whatever reason.
I think you are referring to the negative connotation in which the term is being used these days, as in a "sense of entitlement."

Either way, what I meant was some people believe they should get more than was promised or more than was intended and feel the best way to get it is to demand it, and failing that, cry foul loudly. Peace.

EDIT:  I just realized that you may be referring to "handouts" or "benefits" that are being called "entitlements" by politicians and such. I laugh when I think about how the politicians created the "benefits/handouts/entitlements - -  not the people receiving them!
