I know a little - Forum Colab
But I do know a little bout it. Mr. Grant Starr did the guitars, bass, and drums and sent it to me? I added the piano, lap steel and vocals (and perhaps most regrettably the mix...) Submitted for your approval, "we think we know a little?" There are a couple of minor imperfections? But hey, nobody's perfect! We think it rocks pretty hard :-) Any mix comments welcomed and appreciated. https://soundcloud.com/rockinrobby At the top, We hope you like it!

I kicked that bass in the arse a bit? Let me know if you think it's too much. I mixed it a bunch before I posted it. (I've already remixed it twice since then?) Pulled some ass out of the EQ and backed the bass off to where I thought was better? It's as good as "I can get it" However, my skills are still growing in this department... I look to others for input. I think the performances make this piece :-) Grant did a kick ass job on the guitars/bass and drums? I had a few moments with the slide? And a few that could be better, but it was as good as I could get it? And the vox weren't bad? :-) I REALLY enjoyed being able to play the keys? I would seriously enjoy being able to play with Alicia's Keys even more... All in all, I still think it rocks pretty hard :-D And this is one of my all time favorites! Thanks Grant for the opportunity to participate!! ------ I may yank a little more ass out of this (bass) and in the EQ (a little..) And may push the piano just a tiny bit more. But I'm going to bed for now.

Yeah, bottom could stand to come up a bit. Watch out for mud. It is a bit bright in the left ear, and I would tame that cymbal a bit. Otherwise... I like.

Has been quite busy, so submitted for your approval, one hot redneck, Jessica Simpson... haha me? i've been meaning to jump on here and take a morning out to listen to other people's music for a while. just went on a bit of a roll :-) i'd do more if I didn't have to leave to bring my dog to her vet appointment. maybe later! wonderful picture by the way. i'd add some low end, maybe a machine gun or a rat tail in there somewhere.

Ha - I like this a lot. Raunchy stuff (which is good) . Vocal is killer - haven’t heard you sing in this style before - it’s a very solid and convincing performance. I can see how that picture might inspire. Love the tone on the guitar and bass and the slight imperfections get forgotten as soon as I my eyes drift off to that photo - excellent misdirection skills (no need for the pun retort - I heard it myself the second I typed this).

Hi Robby & Grant, We think it rocks pretty hard :-) I agree! Great job gentlemen. Great playing by both of you (hey, nice piano playing Robby!) and, of course, the usual killer vocal by Robby. Robby, with your voice, I'm not sure how you've managed to avoid becoming a major star...you must be REALLY difficult to work with

Ha! Not unlike a sholin monk who stands in the same temple over a life time perfecting stomping his foot and wearing an indention in the rock, while not a mix master? And some people I respect didn't throw any tomatoes! SCORE! Gary, I suppose I can be a bit pugnacious at times? Vile and pernicious if caught at the wrong time of the day? Derogatory, defamatory, righteously indignant, narcissistic, over confident and self indulgent? A shamless self promoter? So yes, with this extensive list of pre-qualifications it is somewhat enigmatic that I am not a judge on American Idol? I'm not too difficult to collaborate with though (just as long as you don't as Ed for his opinion on this subject...) ;-)

Yes, a young Jessica Simpson is a sight for sore eyes? She makes other things throb as well. Thanks for listening and for commenting Manny! And yes, misdirection works every time it's tried! Another "slightly more Rubenesque?" photo of the chick Rednecks love to dig in honor of an epic Skynnard tune :-) Speaking of loving the guitar tone and " that bottom end?" There's more of her to love here, but it's all good... Same woman, just more of her, and again IMO it's all good.

I very humbly thank "the mix masters" and you know who you all are... I'm sure there are things you could comment on. I was telling Grant that this is "the very first mix" I've ever done that people haven't raised hell about! LOL! But I think you're cutting me some slack? Still? I'll take it :-) I work hard on trying to improve the mixing aspect? It is so very important and at the same time so very difficult... To do well (and this one is just OK) To do it consistently well requires a talent I don't yet have or comprehend. People who don't do this "have no idea" what goes in to the technical aspect. Which is why when I hear consistently good/amazing mixes from people, I just have to listen slack jawed and wonder how they do it? This one is ok? The next one? Probably not so much :-) But it's critique, and input; honest input and commentary that helps us who are learning to do better. Again, I think some of the masters were "generous" but also again, "I *And my colab partner Mr. OhGrant" will take it!" :-) My other colab partner, Mr. no999? Would spank the mix like a co-star in a Ron Jeremy movie... (Shame on you for knowing who he is!)

Hey, Robby and Grant, Absolutely killer job on this dynamite Skynrd cover! Excellent playing on all of the instrumentation, fantastic vox, as always, and a nice clean, full sounding mix, to boot! Really love Grant's guitar work, and the piano jam was super, too. Way to go, Guys! Bob
