Another reason why I like Westerns ..when was the last time you saw nudity in a John Wayne Movie . Kenny
I never considered myself a Western movies fan, but maybe I should think that through again. I bought both Tombstone and Wyatt Earp about a year ago used on Amazon. I also rented the remake of The Magnificent Seven recently. I thought about it bit and realized that two movies I really enjoyed were Clint Eastwood's Pale Rider and The Unforgiven. Maybe I am a Western movies fan (though I'm kind of at a loss to know why). Val Kilmer in Tombstone as Doc Holliday was amazing.

Great Western Movie ! Val and Kurt took that movie over the top with their acting chops ( Sam E also ) Kenny
There is only one negative to Tombstone (1993) as far as I can see: it came out at pretty much the same time as Wyatt Earp (1994), which was another fine film (although I prefer Tombstone, I discount the Ugly Tomatoes Wyatt Earp rating; Ugly Tomatoes is generally worse than worthless). Wyatt Earp is longer, as it attempts to chronicle all of Earp's life and it is much darker. Dennis Quaid does an interesting turn himself as Doc Holliday, though his Holliday is less self-assured and, in a strange way, more "over the top" than Kilmer's. Due to the expanded plot, one can understand Wyatt's motivations a bit more.

This one was good, too. Tombstone's got a bundle of them.

I don't generally feel strongly for or against him. I thought his Wyatt Earp was great. I enjoyed Snake Plissken way back when as well.

Fair enough, but you do realize that Snake was never to be taken seriously, right? Marvel even turned him into a comic book character (one can argue that DC should perhaps be taken seriously due to its predilection for the mythopoeic, but it's pretty hard to argue the same for Marvel, I think). That's why Plissken works for me. Yes, he's so overdrawn as to be almost comedic, but that seems to be the point. Offered in the spirit of FWIW.

He certainly was able to act the part of a caricature of a bad-ass in that film

Yes, he really did. Did you happen to hate him in Stargate? That's the only other film in which I thought he was really good. Other than those, I can't think of anything else in which he impressed me....

Yes, she is a cutie for sure. I was happy for her when the actress that portrays her said no more nude scenes.
