Me too. In-laws loaned us the first 6 season DVD set. Got caught up just in time for the new season.
There are a few little sub plots I could do without, but overall it's pretty creatively done.

I only stuck it that long because someone said there would be naked ladies.
I didn't see any.
It wasn't very long before even potentially naked ladies wasn't enough to keep me watching.

Oh, man. Not sure why you'd resist (aside from not wanting to follow the herd but really GoT is kind of special despite its mainstream popularity). It really is top shelf from all perspectives.
Bonus: It's pretty nuts first time through and so complex it's hard to follow (but still awesome) so it is one of those shows you can watch a few times all the way through and still pluck out nuances/dimensions you may have missed the first couple times.
I'm a little surprised they've managed to keep it going due to what must be an INSANE budget (which is what killed the series Rome) but I guess they're making enough money to push forward.
Enjoy. It's a great show.

And I guess for those who are unsure about investing their time in watching GoT this is how it was described to me many moons ago... and a I think it is an apt description.
It's like Lord of the Rings... except with far more ultra violence, incest, full frontal nudity, zombies and the only "Hobbit" is a straight pimpin' mammajamma.

I guess I'm gonna have to buy the DVD set after this season. There are so many characters I've lost the thread of the story and have to watch it again with a guide to tell me who's who. "What?!? he's dead?" "Oh, he came back to life?!? WTF?"
Still, even if there isn't enough nudity for you it's got frickin' DRAGONS, man!

Yeah, that's my only issue with the story...bringing select folks back from the dead. Kind of ruins the drama around the story and characters when you know, if the author simply wants to, they can arrange for a witch or someone nearby to do a silly ritual and bring them back. Unnecessary and mostly stupid. It proves the writer had no imagination left. I love GRRM, but come on...he can do better than writing himself into a corner and then pulling a zombie card. But what the hell, right? It's a great show anyways, and nothing like it on TV or the movies. Martin truly does believe in the concept that villains are merely heroes to the other side, and vice versa. He's written a clinic on it, here.
