Lots of SONAR plugins work, including some of my favorites such as CA-2A, LP-MB, Channel Tools and the percussion and vocal strips.

Samplitude supports DX, so some of the Sonitus plugs work, but unfortunately not the compressor. The multi-band does, though, as well as the equalizer.

Addictive Drums, Studio Instruments, Z3ta+, Dimension Pro, Perfect Space, Rapture - all work.

What doesn't work: Adaptive Limiter, the Bluetubes collection, Lounge Lizard, R-Mix.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

There is perhaps a little less participation on the Samplitude forum. So here is a question:

In Independence how do I add one or more of the many sounds to the ‘My Favorites’ tab that you see in the browser ? I read through the manual, but I couldn’t find where this was mentioned.

I am sure more questions to come.

Thanks.

If you click on the blue "01 click here to load an instrument" area the 4th option from the top is "save to my favourites"

thanks!  In this age of drag and drop, I saw that but dismissed it as I thought, 'they wont make me actually type something here to simply save something as a favorite.'  in a lot of other programs I have just clicked the little 'star,' or given the sound a rating.  '

Lounge Lizard works if you took advantage of AAS unlock offer. True Pianos doesn't work.

Just finished downloading the 70Gb Independence content and I have to agree with other comments.
There are some really great sounding instruments in there and very usable.

I've only had a quick dabble but I'm sure that I will get some use out of these. Someone commented about the sounds being mostly better than the Kontakt Factory Library and I have to agree 100%.

Lol, of course I should have added that YMMV as I know how subjective these things can be.

One thing I didn't test was whether the Independence downloader can resume a partially completed download as the only option on the dialog box while downloading is "Cancel" and I didn't feel like testing it and potentially losing what I had already downloaded.

Full disclosure....  I haven't read this thread for several days/pages. I hope to catch up soon. LOL
I see that the deal is on through Dec26th (USA) but also saw it available in Europe till Jan 4th, http://www.magix.com/index.php?id=24739&L=38&phash=9wsnAiYJ77GWu8YE&a_aid=5a0d4096ab48e
Can anyone clarify this? I don't have the funds at the moment, but you never know.... it still seems an amazing bargain and all your comments/feedback are really "stoking my hope for the funds".

I have Soundforge which was originally written by Sonic Foundry, then sold to Sony, and then sold to Magix. I bought a couple upgrades while Sony had it, but found I was wasting my money. Now I get bombarded by Magix to upgrade to their incarnation of it, but frankly I don't want software that was written by someone else long ago, and bought later by someone else. Sonar and Cakewalk are pretty good examples of that food chain IMHO.

I won't mention what I am spending my money on, since this thread is about something else, but the original authors of the software are still involved in the current development of it, and for me anyway, that makes a big difference YMMV.

In 1998 Samplitude 2496 was released, at the time owned by German audio company SEK'D (formerly Hohner Midia) ...  "in June 1999 after which SEK'D sold the Samplitude line to MAGIX"

I've been using "Magix's Incarnation" of Sound Forge all week and find it to be a wonderful program, not much different that the original version.....with the inclusion of the iZotope stuff, it's great !!

Wow ... I might just get this to update my SF (and get Spectral layers, that looks interesting)... I've had SF for years and still like it. As for the DAW, I might still go with Reaper... i'll see...

I'm looking for the most efficient audio engine, (especially regarding clip / events FX processing). In Sonar, clip effects were always taxing the CPU (even if the playhead was not reading the said clip)... therefore, requesting unnecessary CPU ressources. I think that Samplitude is better at this (I'm gonna have a look at that for Reaper as well...) Can anybody confirm about this here?

Other thing very interesting about Reaper is that when you mute a track, stress on the CPU is being lightened. Is it the same in Samplitude?

Yes, here is the performance options setup page (w/ default settings)

It is also possible to designate individual tracks as "Economy Tracks" which lower CPU load by processing them with a larger buffer during playback.

I'm just getting around to installing Samplitude - I've scanned the preceding posts and maybe I missed answers to the following questions:
  • Dongle Activation shows under the help menu - optional correct?
  • Can Samplitude 32 use 64 bit VSTs? or vice versa?

No dongle required
I have not tried 32bit Samplitude, 64bit does have a build-in bridge for 32bit VSTs.
Just ran 32bit Samplitude and it can load 64bit VST plug-ins.

Independence is installed from the Samplitude Help menu "Download Instrument & sounds"
Once installed, run Independence to get the option to install the 70GB library.

Samplitude - Help - Download Instruments & Sounds contains:
ObjectSynth & Vita-Groups
No Independence.
What to do?
Regards
Snehankur

Edit: I haven't registered yet. Running trial - 6 days to go.

the trial version does not include Independence.

I had installed the Samplitude and registered on my office PC to download Independence.
I have downloaded and copied the .ytif files.
Now I want to deactivate the Samplitude from my Office PC and want to install on my DAW at home.

How to deactivate? If I take all these files will I be able to install properly and register with all components with slow internet connection at home?

Something I found is when adding FX to a track, there's no way to rearrange them. Looks like a 1st come, 1st served deal. Is that true?

You have the have the Track Editor open (on the left hand side) then you can drag and drop to re-arrange the plugins on the plug-ins section at the bottom (I'll add a screenshot when I get a moment).

Can also be done in the plug-ins section of the mixer screen (shortcut M).

The Track Editor shortcut is CTRL-ALT-SHIFT E by the way.

Trying out Samplitude here and is bothered by this so far.
See, Sonar not too long ago added a MIDI feature whereas you start playback in the 'middle' of a note and the note will trigger. The Forum'ers here complained that every other DAW does this 'cept Sonar.
Now finding out my new friend Sammy is a no do.

I just fired up Samplitude and that feature is working for me.  I put the cursor,  in the middle of notes and pressed play, and it plays like it would in Sonar.
