I actually used to live in Athens, GA in the late 80s.  We loved it there...great town.  Even got to be pals with Bill Berry and Mike Mills of REM.  In fact, my accountant and many good friends still reside there.  Be glad to meet you, ol pal at The Old Pal:-)

The same could be said for "buddy", "friend" and "compadre". All can be used sardonically. Let's try to reinforce their traditional, wholesome meanings by continuing to use them literally.


All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
