Mine failed to install the first couple of times I tried. Put finally got all 3 pieces installed. Some layout differences - Library 'bars' are now thinner (at least I seem to remember them having a little more height per bar) - Top top control bar reorganized. For example QuickLoad icon is gone. Seems to be working OK, loaded fine in one of my old projects.

This update seems to be for people with 13" laptops - because the updated GUI was great on mine! On the desktop ot was ok to me. Different but nothing special. Things loads a bit faster, which is always great. Installed perfectly in OSX BTW

John Thank You! for the link. I downloaded the 5.6 update and re-installed it from that and now everything works, my vst's are back. I also downloaded a previous version to keep just in case.

NI Service Center has been telling me I have a pending update to the Kontakt 4 factory library for the last two years. The message persists even though I've installed the update at least 4 times on two different computers. I wonder how it determines whether or not the update has been installed, given that these are just wave files with no version numbers.

I've had the same issues with Service Center for years. I have to be careful when using it as there are several OLD updates available that never left after DL. I still don't have the confidence to try this DL New System yet...

I had the same issue with Service Center with EWQL Silver. It kept telling me that the update to 1.08 was available, even though I had installed it. I even reinstalled it several times to see if would just go away...no luck... Now it doesn't even show up in Native Access... Amazingly, as old as it is, it STILL works just fine...

This update also adds software analytics. It seems that NI is installing it on all their programs as they update them. As a K9 user there's not too many programs to deal with. Maybe those of you with newer versions have more. I'm surprized that there hasn't been more chatter about the analytics given the noise that was made when Cakewalk introduced them.

Yes, this is truly a dumb move. It looks like I won't be upgrading until I'm forced to because a new library that I want needs the new version number.

Yes, thanks for the great info everyone, Kontakt 5.6 looks like an update I don't want to get, yet. Changing / removing the colours on the virtual keyboard would certainly be a showstopper for my workflow. Has anyone found any advantage to the new look they've changed that to ? I just don't want to believe it's merely to accommodate NI hardware's colour coded flashy light keyboard system.

It most certainly is. "How do we sell more of our keyboards?" "We make it difficult for them to see the keyswitches by making it look like our keyboard. That way it's always in the backs of their minds that the whole key will light up on our board when they squint to look at the little light on the player. We'll rake in the sales!" Marketing is evil.

There's a petition on the NI forum to restore key colors. Hopefully, the blowback will convince them to make the new scheme optional.
