paulo Kind of sucks though that you've so recently been pushing what amounts to half an upgrade based on promises of future goodies over the coming year...the upgrade pricing was based on a few minor modifications."
As a follow-up, here's the blog post from Noel of the under the hood enhancements and bug fixes. It delineates why I think "half an upgrade...based on a few minor modifications" is not an accurate summary.

What has put me off is the following... 1. No Resale Policy - Boz has a NO RESALE policy - once you buy it...that' it...you're stuck with it. 2. The price is the same as it has been on Boz for the past month. This means that you're getting NOTHING for being a Cakewalk Member...it's a ruse...end of story. Really, what this says is Cake Membership means nothing... You can pay the same to Boz or to Cake....so membership has "no privilege" Why bother when it is "money thrown out the window" if I can't at least recoup "some" of the investment if I decide it's "not for me"? What is wrong with Cakewalk and Boz? Don't these companies realize that this policy is ludicrous? WHY would you restrict your customers options? Just about every other company allows for resale, just like buying hardware.... except Cake and Boz....DERH!!! What I decided to do is buy the Summit Audio Grand Channel for $122.95 at AudioDeluxe....far more...for about the same price.... https://audiodeluxe.com/products/softube-summit-audio-grand-channel
no comparison...GC is da bomb diggity...don't believe me? Do the demo... I'm not saying the +10 db isn't good.... but if you decide you really won't use it after buying it...you're stuck with it....period. Not good.

Nope. Larry has been very active in the Software forum and I thank him for his efforts there! Although I've never actually resold any VST I've owned, I can understand why one would want that option open. We all expect that when we buy physical things (well at least I do). I did buy the compressor by the way!

I bought them and one cool thing about the ProChannel modules is that you can double click a dial and can then enter an exact value with numberpad. I think PC EQ is the only other module that allows this. I am loving ProChannel these days!!! But one thing that is not so great are those miniscule arrows one must click to max/min. Make it like Ableton where you can click any part of the modules header bar to max/min. But then, that would work against the PC EQ implementation where double clicking header flys in/out big gui. As more modules get introduced the selection method is getting more cluttered also. Maybe have a "last 6 selected" list up top, then a dividing bar with the remainder below. Or some kind of radial selection method like some computer games use. (weapon selection in unreal 3) lastly, I wish in inspector bar, I wish the gui would flip from ProChannel to meter view with a simple "tab" button push. None of these ideas by themselves are worthy of a feature request but put together would make things in the prochannel more elegant IMO.

I have just given in and bought the bundle. I have only played around for a few minutes, but like the compressor, and the EQ. I will try to spend some more time with them tomorrow, family permitting.. Being able to type in numbers is nice, but this strikes me as a plug in that I will be adjusting by ear. Having an EQ (Quad Curve) that I can type a frequency in, as a starting point, is really handy, but I am not sure that I will be typing numbers into this - but who knows? I will investigate it further tomorrow. My " PC insert list" is getting a little long - perhaps there could be a nicer way of displaying/selecting them. I liked gswitz's idea of being able to re-order them, so you can arrange your favourite ones at the top, instead of having to scroll all the way to the bottom to find, e.g., your FX Chain module. Anyhow, liking it so far.. Please Cakewalk, don't release any more - I am struggling to justify my expenditure to my better half.

Just sold a bit of old gear on eBay so looks like there's a compressor coming my way. Yippee.
As for the changes suggested by backwoods, I'm all for them because my PC insert Module Menu fills the screen vertically and I have to scroll. Softube and VKFX filled it up to over flowing. Even if it would behave like normal VSTs and allow a folder per manufacturer. Maybe I'll put in a feature request.

Can anyone speak to the system resources required by these things yet? Specifically, in comparison to the standard PC equalizer and the PC channel and buss comps. I assume the +10dbs need more juice, but are they somewhat comparable, or is there a huge difference where I'd only be run 1/3 as many instances. Bueller?

On the Boz website it shows the full plug in, but when viewed as a Pro Channel, the compact view means that less options are available to display. He's asking to see the Pro Channel view, not the full plug in view, to see what the limitations are of using it as a Plug in. I believe in one of the threads running, cake confirmed it's not as originally planned for practical reasons, so where can he see what the final released pro channel version looks like. with followed with requests for the Pro Channel version to fly out to the full version when needed, like the Quad EQ does, giving the best of both worlds.

twoifbysea Can we get screenshots of the PC modules. The only one I can find is the compressor.
I was disappointed when I opened up the EQ and Comp in Prochannel. It does not look like the screenshots in the Cakewalk site and eliminates some of the functionality in both modules. In addition, the Expander portion of the Comp/Expander is not shown. If you want the full functionality, you have to open it up in the FX chain, which kind of defeats the purpose of having it a ProChannel module. I have asked Andrew about this, but he has not replied yet. I'm hoping I did something wrong in the setup. Walt
With ProChannel modules sometimes we do have to make design decisions to make it work in the format. We tested it and found it very functional for the majority of tasks but if you do need the full version, it also includes that format. I'll see if maybe we posted a beta of the compressor on our site but it should be pretty similar. I hope you are enjoying it. We've been using it a lot around the office and love it.

cclarry Really, what this says is Cake Membership means nothing...
There is no Cakewalk membership. There is SONAR membership. It relates to new features, content, fixes, tutorials, etc. It's not intended to undercut third party developers with "deals." You don't get Cakewalk's iOS programs or instruments as part of SONAR membership, either (you do get new samples and presets for instruments, though). I suppose that could happen in the future but certainly, membership is not being promoted on that basis. I'm not saying the +10 db isn't good.... but if you decide you really won't use it after buying it...you're stuck with it....period. Not good.
Download the demo version. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Then you won't be "stuck" with something you don't like.

Just a quick note on the EQ, it's a really interesting animal. After some experimenting with pink noise running through it there are a couple things I noticed. First, the parallel thing is strange, but cool. Normally if I took pink nose and boosted one band at (e.g.) 500, and then boosted another band at the same frequency, the boosts would be additive. Not so here, though it's also not completely ineffective as you might expect with a pure parallel eq. Why? Because of the next thing I noticed: the bands are not all the same. The curves and even gain amounts from one band to another are different. +20db at 500 in band one does not get you the same results as +20db in band two. Along those same lines, +20db in band one at 500 and -20db in band 2 at 500 also does not result in no change, but rather something closer to the "Pultec trick". Anyway, I haven't gotten to try it out on an actual project yet (experimenting with new toys on other peoples dime is something I try to stay away from), but hopefully in the next few days. I think it's likely going to be an EQ that does specific stuff for me, rather than a general purpose EQ....more along the lines of my Pultec emulations than a replacement for my FabFilter EQ. It's a cool addition Cake. Thanks for adding it to the Pro Channel. Dean

paulo Kind of sucks though that you've so recently been pushing what amounts to half an upgrade based on promises of future goodies over the coming year...the upgrade pricing was based on a few minor modifications."
As a follow-up, here's the blog post from Noel of the under the hood enhancements and bug fixes. It delineates why I think "half an upgrade...based on a few minor modifications" is not an accurate summary.
Sorry, but you'll never convince me that fixing things that didn't work as they should have or putting back some features that were removed from earlier versions constitute an upgrade. I call that fixing things that didn't work properly and putting back things that we used to have before they were removed. There are some valid enhancements of course, but for me, I still don't see the latest incarnation so far as anything like the upgrade x3 was. I look forward to being proved wrong at the end of 12 months, but more fising of things that don't work properly and ..... Anderton "you do get new samples and presets for instruments though"
..... isn't likely to do that.

Can't please all of the people... Stick with X3 then and we shall see you in 6 to 12 months time... I'm convinced myself.... I can understand why people might want to hold off for a few months if they want... But they are missing out...
