The Sonar Platinum upgrade has been so dreadful I've gone back to working in X3 until SP is debugged. Horrendous  'upgrade' that took a nice dump on my system drive, left lots of plugins not working, and won't even detect Melodyne (on which I heavily rely) as a VST3 and hence no ARA support.

An appalling experience that has cost me many hours so far.

The main issue seems to be that you do not want to install using the default paths, and CCC does not accommodate this at present. However, many people have suggested ways to do custom installs, with the main suggestion being to download all the files, then install them manually as has been in with previous versions of SONAR. Your experience is not the norm, so hopefully the approaches others have used will get you up and running.

I've already worked out how to eventually install it where its supposed to go, and the large amount of time cleaning up after this. Details of the tests, methods, fixes and occasional ranting at  http://www.idmforums.com/showthread.php?t=136904

Command Center is an ill-conceived launch platform and SP a bug-ridden upgrade. Even installing manually does not fix issues with SP and Melodyne.

Many people use SSDs for their system drive for performance, putting applications and data on other, larger drives. Cakewalk seem to have blithely ignored that common configuration and published Command Center regardless. I saw no way to 'just download' in Command Center. The only option was to install. This product should not have been published in its current state.

@Roo

Please check post #24 in the thread you quote, you incorrectly state a thread has been removed which is here:
http://forum.cakewalk.com/Command-Center-Garbage-m3187154.aspx

Please correct your post it's spreading disinformation.

So we have your post here, your thread in the Sonar forums and another thread in the IDM forums. I think we have the message now don't you think?

Thanks...

You managed to snub the whole forum community in a less than ingratiating first post, which is a quite impressive feat :D

I'll leave my post there as is. If I make a fool of myself because I've missed something, I don't mind a spotlight being shone on it. You'll note from my words I was musing more than accusing and as you can see I have not edited the post.

I'll continue to check for updates or fix info on the Melodyne/SP issue. The fact it works fine in X3 tells me Melodyne is installed correctly and the likely culprit is SP. I remain adamant Command Center is not fit for purpose and should not have been released.

The fact products installed by Command Center don't even show up in the Control Panel's Programs & Features is one of the most heinous installation crimes a manufacturer can make and is dreadful gaff.

Well over here we tend to tolerate these sort of comments.

That quote "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" - doesn't seem to amount to much over there. The fact that one of the posters said I was trying to censor your opinions, another person stated that I probably deleted the thread and undeleted it, and a mod banned me as an "arse", when I was attempting to correct what you said about apparent Cakewalk forum censorship (which was unfair and entirely wrong), and then even stating that I agreed with many of your opinions in the cakewalk thread ..... really speaks bucket loads for that forum.

Admit it though, Splat...weren't all the "CCC is great," "smoothest installation ever," "incredibly stable," "smooth as silk" comments getting a little boring? We needed a little variety.
