Like the title says...this is a sneak preview. I expect the update to drop before the end of the month.

If it does not happen by the end of the month the bakers will have given up 12 months warning (stating Oct but not the year).. if so... fair play to them  (that is assuming the city letters reset after twelve releases )

Based on your answer in the other thread, it sounds like the audio has to be populated (bounced) into the aux track, not just echoed through it for these purposes. So no such thing as "virtual" audio...

Remember, you have to make a clip an RFX. You can't make a track, the structure that holds the clip, an RFX. If there's no clip, there's no possibility to create an RFX from it.

Technically, we can make a selection that is not a whole clip, or contains multiple clips, overlapping or not, or portions thereof, including even blank space on a track, and make that into an RFX. Seems there is some function that is serving audio to the region effect and converting the selected region to a new special Region FX clip. It was interesting to think of an aux track as a place where audio from other tracks could be served to a region effect. I.e. not just mixing and concatenating clips that are on the track, but delivering audio through a patch point from existing audio on the contributing tracks. Wild speculation, of course. But then Noel says "The future is wide open :)". I wasn't thinking to propose this, just asking in order to get a feel for aux tracks.

it's finally given me time to pay more attention to the Blue Tubes plug-ins to find out what they can do

Can we expect some tips and tricks on using this bundle? Sorry for OT.

Whoa! Looks like Sonar is (finally) catching up to other DAWs that have had aux tracks, and then leaping over them by a mile.

I'm guessing patch points don't work with "Freeze", so for CPU-heavy processing of patch point submixes, one would have to input from a patch point onto an audio track, record onto that audio track, and then freeze that audio track. This would be in addition to freezing any tracks feeding into the patch point, so as to not inadvertently change their content while it's not reflected in the sound of the recorded and frozen submix.

So an immediate FR (yes, even before trying it out) would be the ability to freeze all tracks (with all their synths and effects) upstream of a patchpoint. This would also answer the recurring FR for quick-freezing the entire project.

Sorry, too excited to wait for the actual download. :D

Is there any more consideration for a Global Freeze? I'm pining for that, still. If that were available, I could save time freezing all individual tracks (even Select All + Freeze would be enough), and perhaps use an Aux or Patch point to add a compressor (for the Echo button on the Aux or Patch-point track) to an incoming vocal without actually applying the incoming effect. Only use it for tracking at a near hardware latency speed, meanwhile, leave all other effects and such in place. It would be a night and day difference in the experience vocalists have in tracking.

I'm updating the Feature Request with the sequence I'm thinking of.

Wow! What a great looking update.
We can finally record the metronome to a track!
I wonder if the patching will allow a feedback loop so that we can make the classic echo effect with EQ'ed regeneration or pitch-shifted regeneration?

They say in the PDF that it still prevents feedback loops. I can see the rationale of that, but I'd prefer it to allow them but give a warning myself.

Real fast download and install as well. Was expecting some slowness because of heavy load.

But I don't really have any time to play around with this until next weekend.

FYI -  I mentioned doing some supporting track templates. Templates don't recall Patch Points yet, you need to recall the template and assign patch points manually. But I still find templates for functions like multiband processing incredibly helpful, and hope to write some blog posts about some of the cool techniques I'm discovering. I wouldn't be as excited if Patch Points were only about track-to-track recording, but they do soooo much more. The splitter/merging functionality is an unexpected benefitt!!

Congrats to the Bakers, I'm really happy with the update.

Downloaded, installed, and used an aux track to make a mid-side decoding matrix for some drum overhead recordings I've got. It's so much simpler and more elegant than having to buses.

Okay, Cakewalk wins...I re-enabled the Start Screen. It really is a whole lot faster, it goes away the second you click on the file menu, and it doesn't re-appear when you close the project. Would still like a "list view" for projects, but the annoying elements are gone, and the pinned projects alone are worth it.

I would like to see more use of notifications. I know the Bakers are skittish about pushing too much stuff at users, and that's great, but I for one would like to know when new blog posts go up and that sort of thing.

It used to do that, but some people found it intrusive and complained. However, you can now assign a button in the custom module to the Start Screen or create a key command, so it's pretty accessible.

You guys should hire Karl to do a cumulative series of videos with a new one each month. A new SWA covering all the new stuff in each update. Create a job! I'd pay an extra 10 bucks a month to cover it.. maybe others would too but IDK. Everyone else seems to already know a LOT more than I do. LOL.

Good applications copy the features of other applications, great applications listen to their users then rip off the other applications.
