Blogman do the recording of maschine stuff inside maschine within sonar as a vst. export sounds or groups from maschine and bring back into sonar for mixing (i love automating maschine fx within maschine with the knob tho) i love workin in sonar just as much as the next guy, but trust me, learn to use maschine the way it's intened to be used and you'll truly appreciate it. must have for Electronic music that has a modern edge. my 2 cents...
This is the model I follow...without the knobs (currently have Mikro). Currently waiting, patiently, for Mr. FedEx. I'll have knobs by this afternoon. Regards,
Mike Win8(64), Sonar X3e(64) w/ RME Fireface UFX.

> export sounds or groups from maschine and bring back into sonar for mixing Oh and BTW this thread is basically trying to tackle this in an effective manner (one way of many I guess/hope), I am using the VST here (not in controller mode): http://forum.cakewalk.com/Waveform-Preview-m2949348.aspx

Alex sorry to have skipped this , just create a fake midi clip , mute it and ftreeze you will get all the audio from maschine , sequence in maschine this the beauty of the thing , if you struggle i will make you a video on this ;)

Thanks Zo. Curious ... What is a fake midi clip? Thanks :)

just create midi data (to create a clip by the lenght you want the audio , let's say 4 bars) mute it , just to let sonar allow you to freeze maschine (he needs Midi data) and you're done ....you will get each track bounced in audio (you can also bounce to track ) but i like freeze as it's quiker and reachable with one click in the synth rack ;) of course you will have to previously have routed alll the sounds in each maschine ouputs available ;) ..

Holy cr*p it works, the mute MIDI clip in track 13 (see #54) is the missing link! That's all I had to do. Fantastic! Thanks Zo.... We are rockin' ! Would be great if they could render this in realtime (already filed the feature request) but this is the second best thing. I'll update the other thread. Cheers...

So I've created a downloadable template here for Maschine, maybe some people might be interested. Probably lots of improvements to be made but it is a start.

Hi everyone, I am not a regular poster on any forum, but I saw something here that may help. A few days ago I decided to get back to working with Maschine mk1. When I connected Maschine into X2 as a vst, I remembered that the recording of Maschines audio directly was a no go. However there is a workaround. To make it work however, you need to have a sound card that has at least 3 stereo inputs and outputs ( i have an Maudio Fastrack Ultra), a mixing board that has at least two stereo outputs that are assignable from the channels on the strip. This will make the signal routing easier. I hope I have the terminology right, I am not a pro. 1. Set up your audio signal path. My mixer crapped out on me recently, so I am routing this with my soundcard only. a. My set up runs the ouputs from outputs 5/6 into inputs 3/4 on my soundcard. or b. If I remember correctly, one of my mixing board auxilliary channels running into 3/4 on the soundcard. 2. insert Maschine as a vst normally, which gives you a midi and synth track. 3. Create an audio track to record your Maschine audio into. 4. Send the audio from the Maschine synth track into the 5/6 outputs on the soundcard using the output option on your Maschine synth track. 5. On the audio track that you inserted, select the 3/4 input from your soundcard. 6. Record your audio from Maschine live. In otherwords, re-rout your audio. I just started running Machine as a vst along with Reason rewired in into X2, so this should be interesting. Luckily, with the ability to drag and drop, I can get my audio into Reason from Sonar if I want to work with it in a stand alone project, or mangle it with the racks. Now to get a day with no other distractions, or trying to figure out how to fix the next issue with the software. Thats how I came by this thread, and decided to reply. Hope this helps. Mileage may vary.

I wouldn't say no! But absolutely no hurry, I suspect it's going to be months at least before I start using this "maschine" in any confident way ... Thanks... For me it's just a matter of learning all workflows and alternative workflows everywhere with Sonar and Maschine at the moment (every workflow has a requirement IMHO). Sanderxpander had an interesting method as well... Sanderxpander Ok, well I think I'm doing something slightly different from what you mention but that might appeal to you; I've set up a track template with all of Maschine's audio outs and eight midi tracks (channels 1 through 8). I've also premapped the pads to notes for each Maschine group (channels 1 through 8 are groups A through H). Then I have a Maschine template that I made with the editor that corresponds with those notes. Basically this means my workflow is; Find a kit using "normal" browsing from the hardware. Once I like it, route the kick, snare, etc to whichever individual out I like. That means I get them all separately in Sonar. Then I press shift+CTRL on the Maschine hardware to switch to regular midi mode, and in Sonar select the midi track corresponding to the group I want to record. Then simply record in Sonar as you would with any other softsynth. While this takes a little setting up and definitely has a few quirks of its own I've found for me it's a much more logical workflow for linear sequencing (as opposed to Maschine's pattern based sequencing. What you do miss this way is being able to use note repeat during recording, but it's always still an option to record a pattern inside Maschine and then drag it onto one of the dedicated midi tracks. Hope that helps.
Thanks!

Oh BTW using 2.0.5 here, only issue I've found so far is limitation (limitations?) in Sonar to workaround. Cheers...
