this link shows some interesting stuff...that Studio is geared more towards stand alone and multitrack. Editor is recommended most for vocals, etc. It appears Studio does NOT include everything Editor has, plus more. It appears different. I'm certainly ready to be told I'm wrong... but looking at their site.... http://www.celemony.com/en/melodyne/functions EDIT...seems Studio is just geared towards multitrack, and maybe the much higher cost. Editor is for single tracks.... Am I wrong in this interpretation?

OK... so the Studio does ADD the multitrack and all the sound synthesis stuff....AND has everything Editor has. So yes, worth the extra $$ for sure. Having an end of April deadline too helps this pocketbook as well. Glad it wasn't the 15 day deal like it was last year to upgrade from Essential to Editor.

musicroom Reading through this thread, my first thought was to upgrade my Editor version to the Studio version, but after reading more at celemony.com, it reads like the Editor version might be a better choice if the focus is vocals. Am I reading this right??
Can you provide a link to where it is suggested that the Editor version might be a better choice if the focus is vocals. As I understand it "Studio" contains everything that "Editor" version has plus multitrack editing and a couple other features. Walt

A TL:DR short reply according to the chart between editor and studio is : studio does the following editor does not Quantize to reference track – Carry over the timing of one track to another Multi-tracking and Multitrack Note Editing – See and edit multiple tracks simultaneously X Sound Editor – Change the timbre by adjusting the balance between partials

Upgrades are cheaper from the 3rd party places, I was going to spring for studio, but my primary use would be vocal tracks so editor would probably work just fine for me btw I still have essentials licensed also , and the upgrade is listed as FREE

The sound design and tempo track videos broke me! I really like that Celemony's mission seems to be the taking of the most laborious DAW tasks and making them a couple of clicks. Upgrade to Studio, done!

It must have been updated since I clicked on it. It was def different when I originally clicked on it. For example, you link said Studio could only be run in 32bit (which was the previous version). Now both links get to the same place (comparison chart).

Bajan Blue Just checked my upgrade price - from studio 3 to studio 4 $149 (before discounts etc), which is of course the SAME price as an upgrade of any version of Editor to Studio 4 If nothing else this seems not a fair way of doing this, as for me to own Studio 3 in the first place cost me a great deal more than just owning Editor. Perhaps I will query this with them. Nigel
Nigel, note the limited time offer on Editor to Studio 4.
Upgrade from Melodyne editor (all versions) to Melodyne 4 studio – Promotion price valid until 04/30/2016
That is awesome! Thanks for posting that. I missed it and was worried that I would miss it or something else because of budgeting. J

A new version 4.0.2 of Melodyne is available now. With it we fixed a bug that could lead to a loss of transparency on vocals.
If you update to Melodyne 4 or try the demo now, you will receive 4.0.2 automatically. If you already updated recently, please go to the Preference in Melodyne and use the update check in order to download the new Version 4.0.2
Have fun with the new Melodyne! The Melodyne team
PS: Should you wonder why the problem was only happening to some users, while others had no complaints, here is some technical background info: The problem first showed up with the release of Melodyne 4. It was caused by silence or sibilances that had a certain “potential” to misguide a specific part of our algorithm. But only few files had this potential to trigger the bug at all. And even with such potentially difficult files, it mattered where you started the playback. So it was kind of bad/good luck whether you ran into the problem or not.

msorrels The Editor V2 to Studio V4 upgrade is at AudioDeluxe for $125.99 Would be nice to know if this is some sort of intro price, I don't use Editor V2 all that much but enough to not want to miss a discount to get Studio V4.
Thanks for that tip off, and for us UK users, it's impossible to resist the upgrade from Editor to Studio 4, so I just sprung for it ! The PayPal transaction came out at £90.81, which really is quite a steal. for what looks an awesome release of Melodyne...

I haven't spent a lot of time with it so far, but I did install it and tried a few quick tests using ARA in Manchester. Performance seemed good and everything worked fine on a Q9300.

Absolutely! FWIW, I've used it a bit more now, both in ARA and standalone modes, and performance does seem pretty good here. The actual transfer process automated by ARA might even be faster than v2, and the standalone version is pretty lightweight. The idea of re-synthesizing and/or adjusting audio partials on-the-fly is really pretty cool, for me along the same lines as DNA.

I upgraded to Melodyne Studio 4 today! Has anyone bought the new Groove3 video? I may. I don't think I ever got everything out of Melodyne that I should. Just very basic tweaks here and there. I thought I would need to delete my older versions of Melodyne, but the install seems to have taken care of everything. Happy day.

Congrats on the Melodyne Studio 4 update! I was going to start watching that video last night but was side tracked... It looks like over an hour and 40 minutes of material presented by Eli Krantzberg. The Product outline looks pretty diverse also with entries in the 4-5 minute range. I noticed that they have a monthly All-Access Pass for $15 which which may benefit you more than the single topic $20 DL. Thanks to bapu, I got started on the yearly pass every time they have a sale.
Purrrfect Audio DAW here. Wow!...
