I took Andrew's statement to mean an order from retailers will not lose time (penalized) off your 12 moths as you wait for your redemption code.

Exactly Bapu, but are we really to worry about losing time now?

You shouldn't be. In retail, we have no idea you purchased until you redeem the code. Then that's when we know you have purchased this product. When you purchase from us, we know right away and that's when your date begins.

So TMLIFYO, you can buy from a retailer  today, hopefully receive the code today, BUT wait to "redeem" the code a week or a month, your subscription starts that day.
I dont see a reason to wait, however. The CC will push down any patches etc as soon as they are released,
The only thing early registration may lose if say the next big update comes 12 months and 1 day aftera 12 month upfront  registration, but you can renew for one month and gain the update.

I thought very hard about it this time.

But with this group buy I´ve saved a few bucks and I think it´s a pretty fair deal.

So, made my bet, Cakewalk. Now don´t dissapoint me.

You purchased the MEMBERSHIP through JRR, or the up front payment? The monthly membership for Platinum for X3 producer users $14.99. Is that available at JRR? I went to check and all I could find was the up front payments.

Does anyone remember the code from JRR? It seems to be 149 there now. I thought I'd try to use the code if anyone remembers it. Maybe it is for sale cheaper somewhere else, I'm looking. I was away for a few days. I guess I should have bought it last week, but I didn't. I don't want to mess around and end up paying 199 instead of 149... but.

Thanks,
J

it is a GROUP buy

Thanks, I'll try. I just remembered that I got a SW gift certificate for SW for Christmas... so if the JRR does not work I'll call Tim at SW! Thanks!

No, if you only pay for one month, on month two you revert to the 12th month version. There are no partial puchase plans.

In order to have a forever unlocked code base you have to pay for 12 months (up front or 12 consecutive payments).

I realize you probably have not been reading everything up here for the last few days so I thought I just clue you in to that misconception.

Please do not confuse the issue. It's all "membership". The only time a purchase is not a membership is if you go on monthly payments and for some reason you do not (or cannot) make all 12 consecutive payment; you lose all "membership" benefits at that point and you revert to demo mode.

I'd figured that out. ;)  Coincidentally, about two minutes after making my post, I received the email. I'm starting to think JRRShop == NSA!

Nah, just kidding. They are an awesome outfit who does customer support right. Beyond right, actually. It's simply amazing, in my experience.

When you purchase from us that is correct since we deliver files immediately. When you purchase from retailers, it starts when you redeem the product. You'll get a redemption code and then instructions on how to install. So you won't be penalized for pre-ordering.

In theory then, when buying from a retailer, how long could someone hold on to the codes before activating and claiming their latest version and 12 months membership ? Is there a time limit or for example, could someone buy today, keep using what they have for three years and then get a super-duper update at that time with no further payment required?

So TMLIFYO, you can buy from a retailer  today, hopefully receive the code today, BUT wait to "redeem" the code a week or a month, your subscription starts that day.
I dont see a reason to wait, however. The CC will push down any patches etc as soon as they are released,
The only thing early registration may lose if say the next big update comes 12 months and 1 day aftera 12 month upfront  registration, but you can renew for one month and gain the update.

So two advantages.
1) wait for initial bugs to be squashed (as you noiticed)
2) take advantage of the reduced offer now, but redeem in 1 months and you have everything from the system ie features (not 3rd party plugs) and bug fixes up to month 13.

The scenario of next years offer being made available on Month 12, when you are due to renew on month 13 means
a) you take it early, and gained nothing financially, but the experiment lost nothing financially. You did loose the opportunity to immediately but escaped some bugs.
b) You order again through a 3rd party, receive that code and sit on it for a month. If any features are held for a for a this release, then they would have had a chance for some bug fixing too.

But with this new model of things rolling out, maybe this is the end to release offers, as their may not be a release, unless of course  and annual release is reflected in new bundles.

BTW, received my Redeem code from JRR too. I would say that's a weight off my mind, but being I bought an XLN AD2 double adpak offer from them in December, I had faith. My J bass, on the way from Thomann in germany however, that makes me nervous.
