Membership purchased through JRRshop
Just curious, I ordered a Platinum membership from JRRshop. I called them to see when I should be able to get my license code and they said they are waiting on Cakewalk for provide new serial numbers. Does this make sense to others. I would think somehow there would be some sort of electronic automated transfer between Cakewalk and their re-sellers. I've had good experience with JRRshop, but if it is going to be a hassle for the little saving perhaps I should have ordered from Cakewalk direct? Regards, Rick

you bought a pre-released serial. product is not released yet. release date is supposedly Jan 21, 2015 this week. that is when you will receive your serial and be able to start using your newly purchased product. when the product is released. JRRShop is a reputable shop, when they get serials they will release them to you, you just have to wait. If you had ordered the per-release from Cakewalk you will still be waiting until release date to receive your serials and product.

Thanks, so confused, what are people using in their reviews within this forum. I see people talking about their experience with Platinum?

They did a "soft release" where they picked a number of people at random and allowed them to get the SW a little early to see if there are any major showstoppers before the general release. The rest of us have to wait a few days...

They got an "invitation only" early version. Cakewalk randomly selected a bunch of X3 users for an early upgrade. Seems like a bunch of folks jumped on it. Personally, I don't think it's a bad idea to wait for the first patch or two, unless you absolutely must have the newest thing. I've already seen reports of a few bugs/instabilities (it's kind of a given with any brand spanking new version). Your new "membership" will start when you register, not when you bought it. So you're not losing anything and arguably gaining some.

True for the OP since he bought it at JRRShop.com. Users who purchase at CW Store: membership starts at purchase, not install/register.

Yes, it seems the best strategy is to buy from a 3rd party and wait for the major bugs to be ironed out, then register. That way you get the best price, the show-stoppers fixed and then 12 months after that. If you're able to wait a bit, that is.

Does anyone remember the code from JRR? It seems to be 149 there now. I thought I'd try to use the code if anyone remembers it. Maybe it is for sale cheaper somewhere else, I'm looking. I was away for a few days. I guess I should have bought it last week, but I didn't. I don't want to mess around and end up paying 199 instead of 149... but. Thanks, J

I got the same email. But 15 minutes later my Sweetwater Rep called and said I should be getting the codes today. When I asked him about the email, he didn't seem to know anything about it, and said that everything went through just fine. So I'm figuring that it's just an automated email because they don't have the codes just yet, or something like that.

I'm just wondering. I think there was a statement here that your 12 months starts at the time you pay for the software whether if it was here at Cakewalk or at a retailer. It is not when you choose to install it. Of course, the 12 month timer should not start unless the software is available to install.

No, when purchased from a retailer you get a redeem code. Your 12 months start at the redemption, not purchase. If you buy in CW Store your purchase is redeemed immediately.

When you purchase from us that is correct since we deliver files immediately. When you purchase from retailers, it starts when you redeem the product. You'll get a redemption code and then instructions on how to install. So you won't be penalized for pre-ordering.

You shouldn't be. In retail, we have no idea you purchased until you redeem the code. Then that's when we know you have purchased this product. When you purchase from us, we know right away and that's when your date begins.
