Why thank you, Malcolm!  :)

Thanks, Jimmy!  Maybe this new version is better. :)

Thanks Steve! :)

Thanks Phil.  It helps having him mix it.  And well, play it.  :)  It would be sorta interesting seeing him play all those instruments and tracks live at the same time.  :)

Thanks Tim!

Yeah, it's betterer, Scott.  Thanks.  :)

Hi, Janet,

Both you and Scott did a dynamite job on this very cool instrumental!  I missed the first mix, but I really love how the piano, strings and violin play off of each other in this nice, clean, textured mix.

Even though it's a bit darker and a little different than your usual stuff, I think it's absolutely fantastic.

Nice work!

Nice composition. Moody and propulsive, very cool.

Ain't nuthin like real strings.

Piano is a bit too mono for my tastes, and the violins just a tad too far off to the sides.  I would switch them both around.

James,
Are you saying put the piano out to the sides and bring the strings into the middle?

James,

Yeah, at least move the piano's midrange more sideways to open up the strings, which are the focal point of the piece

Thanks, James. I was trying to make Janet the focal point but I'll give your suggestion a try.

Thanks to Bob, Grant & Gary also.

Nicely done, but the strings overshadow the piano. That is final!

I thought I had commented on this before, but my post must have not made it.

This is cool stuff.   Cool vibe and orchestration.  Very pretty piece.

No--you can't lose it, Beag.  We might as well shut this place down if you do.

Well, I'll have to shut my studio down at least!

Oh, and thank you!  In the first arrangement, I had the whole last half of it pretty slow which I didn't like after I listened to it enough.  Scott was very gracious to rework his parts for me there.

With this as the foundation you could do a bunch of things or leave it as is.  Vocals, lead guitars and bass would fit nicely in here, or not.  The good thing is that the track doesn't limit anything.  Scotty brings a lot to the table.  You both do.  I enjoyed this!

Thanks Warren.  Yeah, if I could sing, I imagine it would be fun to sing on.  Yeah, Scott brought a lot. In fact, he makes the song, IMO.  :)

Nice piece Janet. I like Scotty's work too. Only nit is that there seems to be a lack of dynamics. Maybe too much limiting or compression or both. I'm guilty of the same usually however.

good job Janet. I usually like most of the pieces that you come up. :)

I became a fan on yours on Reverbnation. I'm "seattletoaustin" on there. You should recall-we did that collab on the Impossible Dream.. and your piano/keys were very nice. My vocals were decent, but I'd almost like to redo my vocals on that piece and try it again, now that I've been practicing singing more these days and bought a singing course and stuff from online...

This is a cool piece. At first glance, i thought the strings or midi/strings were a bit choppy(the duh-dah dah-duh-dah-dah-duh part), maybe a little repetitious in the first part. maybe a little too exact. they change up nicely though and you guys work well together.

we gotta get some of your music in some films, etc..! :)

It makes for a nice mood piece of tension and minor suspense. well done.

Thanks, Tim!  It's probably the SC conversion, cause Scott mixed this and he knows what he's doing.  :)

Well hi there byudog!  :)  Glad to see you around here.  I remember The Impossible Dream. I wouldn't say midi strings around Scott Campbell...those are probably fightin' words to him, if you know what I mean.  :)  IOW, he played every one of those.  If it's exact, it's because he's THAT good.

My music in films? That would be sweet.  I'm not quitting my day jobs yet though. :)

Anyway, thanks for stopping by!
