"Janet" Alegria is the one who put them all up on his website. Not sure if they're still there. Hey Janet, it's been awhile and, of course they're still there. The only reason I would remove them is if I was asked to do so by the original author(s). And here is the post for the project, which contains a link to the complete presentation. "Missing Person" presentation... Happy New Year all! To this day, this is the nicest and most interesting project I've seen coming out of the "Songs" forum for many reasons, IMHO. And I still listen to all songs in sequence once in a while. It would be nice to see a similar project take shape again, not as a competition but rather a challenge to put into practice all that we have learned over the years. Again, kudos to all participants for a job very well done indeed!

Herb... I hear the mandolin... but I'm certain I hear an acoustic guitar being strummed as well.... Am I wrong? That's the jangly instrument I was referring to.

there are 5 acoustic guitar tracks in this Tony. I did 2 and Robby did 3. I don't think the first version had AG in it.. it did have piano and electrics which this version doesn't.

Recorded MS through a Mojave Audio MA100 for the mid (shown at the bottom) amped through the LA-610 at the top of the rack, and the Newman U87AI in a figure 8 pattern turned sideways (shown above) amped through the Avalon 737VT. then the side is cloned, and the phase inverted, pan one side 100L and the other 100R, tastes great, lasts a long time :-) So it generates 3 tracks, send them to an acoustic bus and effect.

You trust me... The equipment shown may be out of the reach of some/most. But the same techniques may be used w/other equipment/pre-amps. It's good stuff. But more importantly, Herb's mix rocks. And He and Scotty's performances (especially Scotty's performance, no disrespect Herb) I was lucky enough to collaborate with Professionals... I'm "OK" at a bunch of different things? And pretty good at others :-) It's a true joy when you can work with others whom you truly respect and admire... I give thanks for that opportunity. And in particular, for my colab partner not reflected here, Mr. Markno999, He is the man! Scotty is the man! Herb is the man! There are many people here who are exceptionally talented... I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with some of them. P.S., please don't pay attention to things I post after a certain hour? I look at some of the things I say the next day and say, really? Really? What a jerk! And then I realize "it was me." It's Mister Hyde, pay no attention to him. Dr. Jeckle's not so bad...

Daryl.... I've learned a few things in 3.5 years.... Tony.... I like it too James.... thank you sir Scotty: uhhhhhh I dunno..... ? All I've ever had was one track...I was thinking you mixed them and sent it as one track.... if you sent 3 on the original project.... it musta been Robby who conflagerated them into one. Unless I'm missing the jist of your post totally...which is also possible.

I think you did..... and you did a fine job on the premixing.... just like a certain vocal track more recently.... stay tuned..... it's almost time. I'll be discussing that with someone up the food chain in Nashville next week.

yes nice and solid arrangement, and all the playing is just perfect. really nice lyric, and so plaintively delivered in the song, just really nice. the violins set it off nicely.

Batsbrew: thank you ...I agree 100% on the fiddles. Violin vs fiddle.... I recall watching the Beverly Hillbillies and in one episode, one of Jed's cousins who was a fiddle player was visiting Jed & family..... Mr or Mrs Drysdale I believe had a friend who was a concert violinist visiting them and the 2 musicians got together at Jed's house. The violinist "looked down his nose" at the country bumpkin fiddle player until the talk turned to money. The violinist bragged about his skills and was putting the fiddle player down when he asked the country fiddle player (who had a hit record) how much money he made playing the "fiddle" on "that" radio song, in a sarcastic, snobbish sort of way. The country gentleman fiddle player told him... maybe whispered in his ear..I don't recall the specifics..... but he concert violinist leaned back with eyes wide and said "really?"...... "Yup" was the response.... then the violinist asked..... "So show me exactly how that fiddling song goes"....

This argument never ceases to amaze me! *sigh* I think it just the venacular depending on where one is. Like Harper and Harpist. Both can just read or just play with feeling if either chooses to.
