I closed the Band Lab assistant after installing and didn't look for the add-ons - thanks for that.

How long does this take to finish installing? Download finished in a short time, unpacked in seconds but just sits in installing.

Seems like it hung for you too. Rather than take a chance on the install, I uninstalled and then reinstalled. The second time the install ran to completion.

scook It is not automatically added to the Utilities menu. The Theme Editor is called using the Edit button on Preferences > Customization > Themes It is possible to add it to the Utilities menu by editing the registry or using my SONARToolsEditor, There is a link to the utility on the Sonar Resources and Utilities thread.
Not advisable. There is a reason it doesn't exist in the tools menu. Its not compatible with SONAR and will cause confusion if its there.
Just to be clear ('cause I am usually confused)... At least in my case, TE indeed does show automatically in the Utilities menu, and has ever since I installed it. It's there in both Splat & TNSCCFBL (The New Sonar Called Cakewalk from BandLab). Clicking it simply opens TE the same as clicking the Edit button in Preferences. Sonar/Cakewalk has no "Tools" menu that I know of. Just to be clear ('cause I am usually confused).

The "Tools" are the user editable section of the Utilities menu. If there is a theme editor in this menu, it is NOT the new Cakewalk Theme Editor. It is the old SONAR Theme Editor. The editors look similar, the title bars are different.

Noel Borthwick [Cakewalk] Haha no the post is all ready but Meng is out travelling. I'll leave the announcement to him. I guess the cat is out of the bag though so enjoy discovering whats new. Hint - there is a lot and tons of bug fixes as well :) Even more than we had in recent SONAR releases.
I can't wait to read the announcement in full! I'm curious though, how did you get Celemony to agree to put Melodyne in there? Is Bandlab giving away free licences to Melodyne 4 essential? I'm asking because the first CbB release was free and without 3rd party plugins. Has Celemony agreed, because there's the chance CbB users will want to upgrade in the future, so it's like a form of advertising. Obviously, don't say anything you shouldn't share with us, but what you could tell us, I'm all ears! The same issue kinda applies to dithering. Is Bandlab giving away free licences of POW dithering? Just trying to understand what's happening.

Thanks scook. I am on the way to being unconfused. It looks like there is no real difference in the 2 TE versions so I assume they are interchangeable/identical. And now that CbB is updated to 24.04.1, TE is no longer in the Utilities menu as it once was. Not sure why it needed to be removed, tho.

Thanks Scook, I uninstalled the installer also. Redid the install of both. This time Norton AV was happy with the installer (the initial install upset both Norton and Win10 security) and everything seems fine. Even where I have my files stored all stayed as it should.

I opened up Themes in Preferences and there was an option to edit themes. Not that I’m into that. As a matter of fact I have been so used to Sonar Mercury I got thrown when I looked at Reaper with all its theme choices.

Don't forget you can also run 'Cakewalk Theme Editor' (as it's now called, since it's a separate app from the original SONAR Theme Editor) from the Windows Start menu, as well as from the Preferences->Themes->Edit button.

msmcleod the following are now available in the new "Install Addons" menu:
- Studio Instruments Suite
- Drum Replacer
- Melodyne
- Theme Editor
Wow, that's surprises me. Melodyne essential is a $99 application. That's a bit of a coup for Bandlab as I see it. I kind of expected the other 3 listed, but thught that would be down t the user t purchase from Celemony.

Thanks for the update Meng, Noel and all in the CbB bakery :) Update went smoothly and Bitdefender AV didn't interfere this time (with added firewall rule allowing BA). I am only interested in the bug fixes as I already have the "addons" covered by SPlat or 3rd party stuff (e.g. Melodyne Editor). Mainly keen to ensure that CbB doesn't mess with any paid 3rd party stuff and so far it's looking good.

I think I've managed to install the new version; BandLab Assistant is still saying an update is available. My confusing experience so far: - I opened BandLab Assistant and it said a new version was available (of itself) so I clicked to update. - This took a couple of minutes but it was an anxious wait as nothing showed on the screen that anything was happening. But it was so all ok. - The Assistant then said a new update was available for CbB so I clicked for it and it said 'installing' for seven or eight minutes, then finished, although no signs of installation appeared on the screen. - I opened CbB and checked the version number: no change, still the old one. - I clicked install again on the Assistant and a few minutes later all the expected popups appeared unpacking and installing the new files. - I was then asked if I wanted to install Studio Instruments and clicked 'no'. - I opened CbB and all seems well, including the Powr dithering options reappearing (thanks guys!) - But: the Assistant is still saying 'a new version is available'. Puzzled. EDIT: I installed again and got to the same problem. I guess if I don't want Studio Instruments I will always have to put up with the Assistant telling me I need a new version. Bring back the Command Centre which understood me!

stratman70 Curious...Does it just install or does it download the exe so we can save it?
Can't we just copy the exe to a safe place after installing? It must have the same name with the same associated dlls as Sonar did?

I had a similar experience when updating BA. Ultimately, I quit BA and restarted it. After restarted, BA updated OK. The current version of BA is 3.0.8.

My problem was when it said it needed to close the assistant, instead of clicking ok, I clicked cancel, so next time it said there was an update. However this time I clicked ok and all was good. I think sometimes we just click automatically without slowing down.

scook I do not believe it is Melodyne Essential. Celemony has a free 30 day trial of Melodyne Studio.
AFAIK Melodyne only has one installer for all its versions - it's your license that dictates whether it's a trial, essentials, editor, studio etc. I chose the "Repair" option when I ran it, so it wouldn't mess with my existing installation and so the BandLab installer would see this as a successful install. To be honest I don't know if it was necessary to run it all, but I did it just in case there were any Cakewalk specific files needing updating. No doubt it will be clearer once the announcement is made public. M.

Finally finished downloaded and installed here. Feels good so fare. My compliments to the chef. On the critical side, the process for me took forever (2 hrs ++). Needed to leave it overnight to get the job done. Would have been nice with a progress indicator on the download part, as well as the install part. I first did the update of BA to v3.0.8, then selected the Update option (without add-ons). That being said, when I got down here in the studio this morning ... CbB fired up without issues. Status in BA is "Up to date" ... I'm now considering installing some of the add-ons ... will probably leave out "Melodyne" as I already have something version with some codes that came with SO. Hope it's not a once in a lifetime offer and that I'm missing out on something here :)

If you are already up to date with Melodyne there is no need to run that installer. But yes according to Celemony the installer is general and won't downgrade your existing version. If you don't have an existing Melodyne licence it will give you a one time 30 day trial of Melodyne editor. If you have a license already it will just update the software if necessary.
