Hi AJ

Quick question. I've laid out my BCR 2000 a lot different than the way your pluggin is setup for the per track eq and was wondering if I could change which encoder controls freq, gain, Q etc?

thx

I'm having a bit of trouble unlocking the encoder groups. I followed the procedure in the rtf and sent the bcr_egroups_1.syx to the BCR 2000 in Sonar. When I exit sonar and try to edit the buttons nothing happens and the encoder groups appear to be the same as they were before. Am I missing something here?

So I got the plugin up and running and I gotta say that it's pretty awesome! Great work AJ and thx for your help Ron. If AJ considers updating this plugin I wish there was a way to make the selected track the leftmost track automatically rather than pressing shift and solo of the track you want. I'm using an Alphatrack for controlling volume, switching tracks, and LCD display and sometimes I forget that just because my display says I'm on track 2, doesn't mean I'm controlling the eq on that track.

I am completely lost. I have my BCR2000 and B-CONTROL EDIT software working properly. However, I don't even know how to make the changes that are necessary as stated in the apendix. Is there a template with these changes that I can load on to the B-CONTROL EDIT software so that I can then load them into the BCR2000? Thanks in advance for looking at my post.

I'm pretty sure there's a simple Sysx file you can blast the unit with.  Use the software to load it to the computer presets and then just send it to the unit.

I didn't see any sysx file on the zip provided by Aj. Does anyone have this magical Sysx file?

Unfortunately I didn't think of blatting the configuration out from the BCR to a SYSX file, for which I apologise. Also around the time I finished the project my BCR's USB port failed. It is now connected via MIDI but for quite a while I had problems receiving sysx dumps back through the MIDI port it was connected to. So I never got round to it.

Unfortunately SourceForge's project hosting is kinda awkward and to rectify this I would have to issue a whole new subrelease of the project; I can't just go back and add a file, as far as I can see.

You do not, however, need any external utilities to program the BCR and it only needs to be done once. You do it from the BCR front panel following the simple instructions in its manual, then save the preset. This will take a few minutes but then you are done. The BCEdit utility is, frankly, more of a hindrance than a help in my opinion. It's much easier just doing it directly from the BCR front panel.

So I don't need the bcr_egroups_1.syx file to ungroup the bank switches? Ok, I'll try this when I'm back from disneyland today.

THank you so much for your help...

Hi aj-
The BCEdit utility is, frankly, more of a hindrance than a help in my opinion.

I agree! For one thing, it forces you to stay on an outdated Java version.

@drvenom: "BC Manager" is an excellent substitute, but the link I have for it, http://mntn-utils.110mb.com/ is either defunct or just down temporarily. You can find out more about it on the Yahoo Group: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/bc2000/.

If you can't resolve this I can export a .syx file for you later, but as aj said it's pretty straightforward to program it directly from the BCR front panel.

Hey Susan, thank you so much for your help. I would appreciate it if you could export the .syx file. I downloaded BC manager and I was able to configure everything as instructed by Aj using the layout window in AC manager. I just don’t know how to ungroup those 4 bank buttons. I went ahead and still set the CC values for them as instructed on Aj’s manual; I couldn’t find the momentary setting box. I sent the data to my BCR200 and nothing…

In Sonar 8, I go to options then to controller/surfaces. I add a new controller and choose the BCR2000control with input port BCR2000[01] and output port BCR2000[01].  I click ok. Then on the control/surfaces window I see BCR2000control-1 with the appropriate input and output port, BCR2000[01]. I then close this window, and still nothing, the BCR2000 does not control anything. If I go back to the control/surface window, I notice that BCR2000control-1 is still there but the input and output ports are now blank.

Hello,

I'm preparing everything to order my BCR2000. I have carefully read this thread but I'm not sure that I understood one thing. Let me explain in short terms.

Can I customize (program) my own layouts for VST instruments and have them recall automatically when select appropriate plug-in?

For example, sometime I open a VST instrument X1 in channel 1, VST instrument slot 3. In other session I will open same VST instrument on channel 3, VST instrument slot 5.

When that happens I want my own mapping to control that VAST instrument (or other). Do I need to manually select other program for that, or will BCR2000 automatically to apply my mapping on selected plug-in or VST instrument? That is my concern.

I hope that someone can explain this to me.

Thanks!

Hi all.

I have some troubles with this (please bear over with me as MIDI isnt my kind of thing)

I have installed the drivers for the BCR2000, and also (i think) flashed the BCR with the sysx file provided.
I load the controller in Sonar, there is nothing happening when I press the "double shift" .
When I set the controller, I can only choose BCR2000 driver 1 and 2, not the channels (should be 16)

I have checed the midi activity and this seems to be working.

HELP! :)

Hi Kristoffer

There's quite a lot of troubleshooting tips in this thread already so I would suggest you have a quick trawl through it first. Also a good idea to check that the BCR is actually communicating properly with Sonar - remove the control surface from the Sonar menu and then select the BCR as input to a MIDI track. Then record to the track and wiggle some knobs. Then go to the MIDI event view for the track and confirm that MIDI events are being recorded. If they are not, the BCR is not communicating with Sonar and you need to resolve this first. Check that the BCR is in the correct mode (see the Behringer instruction manual) and verify that the bank switches have indeed been correctly ungrouped for the preset you are using - if you set the top rotaries to some position and then press these four switches, they should NOT cause the rotary settings to change, as they normally do (because they are switching encoder groups in normal mode).

All controls should be transmitting on channel 16 with the correct assignments. A sysx file was bundled with later versions of the plugin to make this setup a bit less painful, you can use Sonar to send this to the BCR if you wish and it should configure everything for you.

I know that this plugin has now been downloaded over 4,000 times - it does work, there are quite a few satisfied users (including me!) so persevere, we'll get it working, I'm still lurking around.

WRT customised control assignments. Quite a few requests have been made for this. However, I started a new job in March and it has been very demanding.  I have not, however, forgotten about this feature request and hope to look into it shortly.

Hi AJ, and first of all: thanks for your time. Both in working on this and also actually support :)

I do get the midi events recorded, even if I dont set it to receive at channel 16.

But: I've read some more in the thread: is it not supported by Win7 64bit? Or Sonar 64bit?

I have both... :D

Re: RE: New free BCR2000 control surface plugin now available 2010/09/13 07:55:18 (permalink)
Hi people!!! i had just run into this forum accidently!!!
i have been using the bcr2000 for a few years and I have been using all the knobs to control plugins! I found AJ's software and it really is a good!! he did a good job in everything!! But I have been using all the knobs on the BCR but not with AJ's plugin.  use a combination of ACT plugin and The Generic surface plugin.
I select the BCR2000 preset in the ACT plugin, and send the midi messages to the BCR. By doing that, u can use the bottom 2 rows of knobs to control things in sonar. u dont get the led updates on the bcr but u can control anything just as it would be full duplex! e.g click on the eq, make a change with a knob, then click on a reverb and make a change with same knob it works just like bi directional. then click back to the eq, and u can continue controlling with that same knob from the value u left it before. So, i then opened the generic control surface and assigned the other top and 2nd row of knobs to controls from the geneic control surface box down on the left. u can click on act and assign parameters and controls of plugins to those 2 rows of knobs. the only thing u have to do on the BCR is change the mode of those 2 rows of knobs to rel1. Then u have a BCR2000 with all knobs and buttons working!!!!!!! U dont get the LED updates, but who needs them!!! hehe!! the controller works just as if it would be bi directional!! Click on an effect, control anything u want, click on another effect control anything u want, click back to the previous effect, its all updated in the BCR to use the values of all the plugins!!!!
Try it!!!! Im still saying that AJ did a really good job but for me it easier if i can just click on a effect of any track and adjust anything than to use the buttons to scroll the the tracks and effects.

Updating myself here.

Since this time, I realized the plugin was for only 32bit and I put my BCR in the attic.

Last week I saw someone compiled the plugin for 64bit, and I had to try. Now fully working and it is perfect. (well, almost , http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2307184)

Thanks again AJ!
