Noel's Blog Post on Enhancements and Bug Fixes Is Now Online!
Go to the Cakewalk Blog to read Noel's article about the "under the hood" improvements to SONAR. There are a lot of ones I hadn't picked up on yet, and frankly, there were some cool aspects of Mix Recall that I completely overlooked. There's also a list of 120 or so of the more significant bug fixes. Some of these are minor, like graphics anomaly fixes, while some are pretty major. Well worth reading if you want to know what makes SONAR 2015 a considerable improvement over X3e and why this rollout has been so well-received by people who actually have the program. I'm still waiting for my first freeze/crash/hiccup. I hope I have a very long wait This list does not include some additional bug fixes that occurred just before the 2015 version's official release (e.g., the Melodyne fix), and I don't think it includes the ones that will be rolled into the monthly update (for example, Noel fixed the Kontakt-with-non-English-OS bug).

Cakewalk does make software for the Mac. Not Sonar. No fries with it either...

I wish! Sorry, no...this refers to the iOS products as well as the cross-platform instruments like Rapture and effects like the CA-2A. I do tell people that one of the best Windows machines is a Mac running Boot Camp , but Cakewalk doesn't like me to talk about that because they don't want to have to deal with SONAR tech support on a Mac - like how people can access their Mac data under Boot Camp (they can't, they have to use something like Parallels). I really doubt that SONAR will ever appear on the Mac...it's been in deep with Windows for so long I think there's probably no turning back. Whenever I ask Andrew Rossa about a Mac version he says "there are no plans at this time," but I don't think the "at this time" is a dodge that means there's something planned for the future. I think there really are no plans.

I went over the list and its rather stunning. I did know as many do some of the major things in Sonar 2015 but there is so much more. Even having the program I'm still stunned by the depth CW went into do bring this Sonar to us. This is a must read even if you don't have Sonar 2015 yet. Now all we need is the PDF user manual. I'm betting its 2000 pages.

Yeah, that's why I got upset when someone dismissed it as "half an update" with "minor modifications." A lot has been done that will have considerable impact now as well as moving forward. It's also why I get upset when people say if they pay their money for an update they don't know what they'll be getting in 2015...this shows some of what they got for their money in addition to the obvious feature additions.

Its funny I was thinking that Craig fits in very well with the CW people because you all seem to be workaholics. The above post kinda of underlines that. I always look forward to these kinds of postings by you Noel. They always give great insights into what you have all been up to. I am always amazed at how much you stuff into Sonar and the thinking behind it is very interesting to say the least. Needless to say you have another winner on your hands.

Craig, The real problem I see is that The Customers didn't know what they were getting other than the New Features listed. They had No Way of knowing which bugs, if any, were addressed. To some of us bug fixes are more important than New Features or receiving 3rd party software that we received with X3 or purchased the Full version on our own. Those of us that had issues and, worked with support and, our issues were confirmed as issues and, had submitted bug reports had to set and wait as there is No Way to get any info about whether your issue is being worked on or not. You can inquire forever and a day but unless you are someone special you will not get a reply, at all. Then 10 months later the New version is released but no 'issues list' is available and no one knows when it will be available. So what do you do? You just hope that Cakewalk fixed your issue and spend the $149 anyway? You trust that surely they will fix something that seems so simple. I did, I purchased, and my issue is still not fixed. Seth commented that my issue is still on the radar and will make some notes but I have no idea when I will hear about it. That particular thread was locked by the Host so I had no idea how I will hear anything back. I sent seth a PM inquiring as to what I could do to find out if my issue can or will be fixed but I received no reply at all. I have a lot of respect for your methods and opinions and am curious what You would do if you were in my shoes. I know you have other matters to take care right now but sometime Please let me know. Right now I'm not sure which way to turn. As I see it I can either accept that my issue will not be fixed or I can continue forward and bug the living daylights out of Cakewalk until they get tired of hearing from me... Kind regards, Rick Tucker

rtucker55 Expected ResultsThe PRV's Track Pane will show or hide the same tracks that were displayed or hidden when the project was saved.
Without wishing to divert this thread, may I make one tentative comment on this? While your expected behavior makes logical sense and having to keep hiding tracks every time a frequently accessed project is opened can be a pain, the other side of the coin is that projects sometimes don't get opened again for some time. I'm just wondering if a project was saved with tracks hidden then opened maybe months later with data still hidden whether that might lead to confusion of the "where's my MIDI gone?" variety. I guess I can see pros and cons for both ways of doing it....

@Rick OK and this was your response 3 week ago. Guess the answer is they are working on it. http://forum.cakewalk.com/Bugs-and-Fixes-list-m3154230.aspx#3154406 Also like to refer you to this comment: http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3161835 So here's your bug fix list. I'm sorry your issue didn't get fixed (well I'm not entirely sure if it has or not right now)... on the other hand others got their issues fixed (so yippie for them), and some others didn't (so here's a boo hoo for them). I'm sorry you weren't lucky this time around... However from what I understand they are working on regular bug fixing from now on - what is there not to like right now? Everybody has their own specific issues and the great news is it appears something is actually being done about it at last. What you have said is that you have seen no progress in the past... well fair enough.... I think now however you are seeing progress. Cakewalk has listened. Sorry but you can't rewind the clock... And yes it probably means you are going to have update to Platinum to get it... there you go... Let's just for one day celebrate Cakewalks hard work eh? Do what I intend to do... keep watching the skies every month... Looks like Cakewalk has acknowledged your problem again so maybe you just need to just give a directional stare... Thanks..

@Rick anyway, again as I had done previously, I strongly suggest you create a new thread in the problem reports forum about your specific issue where it can be tackled head on rather than your issue get buried in another discussion thread.

@CakeAlexS, I appreciate your quick reply but How does one know if they are Really working on it? I think one of my points earlier was that there is No Way a Customer can find out if their issue can or will be fixed. The only way anyone can know that is to hear/read it from the people who are actually slaving away at these issues. I sincerely respect the work Cakewalk has done but unfortunately my issue still remains and I get to live with the frustration of it almost every day I use Sonar. I'll be 60 this year, I don't have a lot of years left to wait...

For now I'd just create a new thread in problems report forums. I'd really like to see if you issue can at least be reproduced in Platinum. Forewarning.. I or other may ask for further info/more steps to reproduce in the new thread. Maybe Cakewalk would like to comment in that thread as well if they have the time. Then the discussion here can continue as it was whilst you have your topic addressed...

CakeAlexS @Rick anyway, again as I had done previously, I strongly suggest you create a new thread in the problem reports forum about your specific issue where it can be tackled head on rather than your issue get buried in another discussion thread.
Considering the other thread was locked I tend to agree with you now. I still don't think a New thread is going to help anything get solved. This issue has been discussed in other threads but not addressed by a single Cakewalk rep that would be in the know.
Purrrfect Audio DAW here. Wow!...

I swear I never heard people complain so much as when they got crosstalk on their analog tape or the edge tracks were ONLY suitable for lower frequency instruments. I mean, what a ripoff. ALL tracks should be able to handle little splash cymbals. The fact that you have to put time code on an edge track.. another ripoff. Sounds like a Studer bug to me. Machines certainly didn't come our of manufacture like that. The fact that console emulation exists... IS that a "bug"...or do we want variance purposely in our tracks?
