Been playing the whole Bolshoi discography today.  I forgot how much their songs grow on you with multiple listenings (love that with any group).

Enjoyable. My only comment is that the introduction to the song is wasted and not used again ... but the rest was just fine, albeit I think that the opening sound added to it all would have made it stronger ... but that's my ear preference I think.

Hmm. Great production as always, but try as I might, I cannot warm to SW, he seems to take himself far too seriously. This is like a ponderous Prince track. I see from his website that the new record is his homage to '80s albums from Peter Gabriel, Tears For Fears and Talk Talk. OK then...

This is a "single edit" from a much longer 26 minute track.

I'm already planning on checking this out some more and might even get the CD. I have to be a bit more picky these days, being on retirement funds and the like. But it seems nice enough to be acquired. At least it appears to be rather well thought out and well rehearsed. Sounded and looked very tight ... and that is always a treat.

He's got a couple "questionable" leads IMO* - hehe...  But I find many of their songs very catchy.

*By questionable, I mean it sounds like he tries to force too many tricks into the lead instead of working with the music sometimes.  Still good though!

Since I posted that thread about Tony Levin, I keep going back to the track he was talking about (although it's Trey Gunn here)

The vocal section near the end is sublime, quite Yes-like. Adrian Belew was in fine voice on that night, and he can 'get his groove on', no matter what the time sig!

The now defunct The Reasoning, another female fronted Welsh prog band, Rachel Cohen (nee Jones) on vocals, she was in the original Karnataka line up.

Sadly lead guitarist Owain Roberts disappeared in West Wales in 2012.

Also in this lineup is Dylan Thompson (Kiama, Shadow of the Sun)

Accidentally ran into these two guys (El Ten Eleven) and very interesting concept as they've been doing this live for about 13 years.

Not quite, but the idea is there. "Olias of Sunhillow" was not anywhere near the pop sentiment that has been a part of Jon Anderson, since the fall out from TFTO. I would almost say, that this could be the material that would have made YES a much better band than the evolution of the band without JA. The material would have fit really well.

"Olias of Sunhillow" is a very strong spiritual album and does not have a "pop song" mentality within it, and even though (supposedly) it was not Vangelis, his influence is all over it, and the suggestion for me, still is/was, what the band YES could have done if they had not quit on their music, and folks like RW spend their time trashing some of their work. The sadder part, still, is that JA, has never returned to his spiritual roots full force, to even be able to consider a piece of music, or album that was far more than just a bunch of pop minded songs, with nice lyrics, but on occasion the same lyric as before, said differently.

Still nice ... but not enough, and Jon's time is long gone in my mind. His "art" is long gone, and a nice instrumentation on one song, is not enough anymore for me and (even) you!

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

This is a superb Elvis Costello offering from 1982, "The Long Honeymoon." Sounds great, I love the whole atmosphere of the production.
