Apparently, Sir Paul was used to get people to vacate the ceremony from what I'm hearing. Heh...

bapu The only bummer about seeing more of London is that I was originally scheduled to go back next month. Finances got in the way via being laid off in October 2011 and I have yet to find another job. Yeah, hope it works out well in the end Ed, I remember you coming over in 2010, I was going to join you and the CH clan in London and instead nearly shuffled of this mortal coil in hospital. Would be great to put that one right, roight? Garry Kiosk

bapu craigb daryl1968 craigb My Welsh roommate turned it on, watched 30 seconds of it, declared that "This is stupid. I hate this stuff, this is rubbish!" and flipped the channel to something else. not enough sheep? Is there ever enough sheep? Sheep, they're not just for breakfast any more. I don't think breakfast was what he had in mind Bapsi. (Did I have an irony detection failure just now?)

To me the undesputed highlight was Kenneth Branagh quoting Prospero from Shakespear accomanied by Elgar's Enigma Variations. It was beyond magnificent and never have my goosebumps been bumpier. Absolutely loved Rowen Atkinson's bit at the synth. Brilliant! Didn't watch the end yet. Hit record in the middle of the parade of atheletes. Why does that part of the procedings have to take so very long? After all, they're atheletes, for heavens sake. Can't they just run?

I am watching it now on DVR. The Arctic Monkeys just played Come Together and just drove me right up the wall... the singer was flat allthe way through and I swear the lead he played was a little flat too. Sometimes I really miss John and his wonderful voice. I need a xanax after that. I guess now I have to look forward to whatever it is Paul is going to do. BTW, I think maybe I am included in the "ladies and gentlemen"... I'm not sure though. I may just be included in the "dumb masses"... (whom they didn't mention). Surely Paul cannot be as bad as the Arctic Monkeys... Everything else has been pretty good IMO. I do think that Ted Nugent should have been one of the Olympic flag bearers... J

That version of 'Come Together' by the Arctic Monkeys was simply terrible. That guy cannot sing period. It sounded like to me the vocals were in another key to the music or was I imagining that!

Thanks, I was afraid it was just me. It drove me nuts, he was flat the whole way through. He had in ear monitors, perhaps they were not working? J

Paul sounded better than Moon would have.. he got off to a shaky start on Hey Jude but it seemed to get better... is he beginning to favor Keef a little? The torch lighting was really good but Mr. Bean stole the show... J

Thought Arctic Monkeys was quite a brave choice, most directors would have thought Coldplay or Sting or something...of course, I would have picked Iron Maiden playing 'The Loneliness of the Long distance Runner'...and they are East Londoners! the cauldron was truly great, also the forging of the Olympic rings. A bit eccentric, yes it was deffo British!
