No. In many cases, SONAR's "Problem Reporter" displays a dialog.  That's what I'm referring to.  Thanks again.

Problem is that when X2 crashes Sonar's "Problem reporter" doesn't always show up.

Asus P8Z77-V LX, Intel i5-3570K, 8 gig ram, Line6 UX2, M-Audio C400 mostly uses this one, Waveterminal 192-m, ATI 6970. Windows 7 64-bit, Sonar X3D 64-bit. And lots of plugins.  christian-landstrom.se

Any serious problems loading on top of X1d Expandedx64, I read afew posts were X1 got corrupted? What's the consensus? Please, I haven't made the plunge yet!
I did a VST plugin scan but found some plugins not listed in the Browser.
I opened my Plugin Menu Layout in the Plugin Manager, removed the listed plugins that weren't getting into the Browser, added the same plugins again from the VST list and then they showed in the Browser OK.

PS: I had X1 and X2 open at the same time, adjusting my Plugin Menu Layouts in the respective Plugin Managers. I have separate Plugin Menu Layout locations for X1 and X2.
I noticed that, when I Saved in X1, it would offer the X2 Plugin Menu Layout location for my .prog file, and vice versa.

Hi guys,

I just want to take an opportunity to remind you that any issue that is reproducible with steps should be reported here:  http://www.cakewalk.com/support/contact/problemreport.aspx

This will help us prioritize and also make absolutely sure we know about it, as it's sometimes hard to sift through forum threads.

In addition: whenever a crash offers to send info to us, please say yes.  This really helps us get to the bottom of stuff we can't make happen in-house.

Thanks.

Unless, as in my case, the crash reporting routine crashes,,, the progress bar goes about 3/4 way then the process freezes...(sigh)

Mine seemed to freeze too but I left it alone and eventually I got a confirmation that the report was received...

I've opened up a couple projects now since installing X2 - I've noticed that sometimes the ProChannel doesn't scroll (in one case making it impossible for me to access the LPF/HPF on the EQ for one of my buses).
I've seen this happen quite a bit.  It is, no doubt, a bug (I haven't figured out when it happens and when it doesn't, but it sure seems to happen frequently enough), but there is at least a consistent workaround:  When this happens, click on a module in Pro Channel, but not on the module's Pro Channel header -- it has to be on some other part of the module, like between knobs.  It doesn't matter which module you click on as far as I can tell.  Once you've done that, you should be able to scroll.

I might add that there seems to be a similar (perhaps related) issue with respect to getting buses, and possibly also tracks, to fully get the focus, especially including making the Inspector shift which track's Pro Channel strip is showing.  In that case, the workaround seems to be to click on the bus or track an extra time, but it seems like clicking on the track's/bus' header may not do the trick (or may not always do it).  Perhaps it has to do with switching between bus and track panes, so that, for example, if a track has the focus, and now you want to give the focus (i.e. for Inspector purposes) to a bus, maybe you have to click twice, once to get the pane focus to shift and a second time to get the Inspector to show the right thing.

I tried this unfortunately it did not work.  The page would let me complete the form and then when I tried to submit the form, it informed me.

Re:Report your X2 (running, not install) problems here. 2012/09/24 05:58:02 (permalink)
My first run of X2 is to open one of my last project done in X1.

The first odd thing that happens is, I'm hearing white noise (lasting like 3 seconds) for every 15 - 20 seconds.

Closing the project, while X2 is still running, immediately stop this repeating white noise.

My project includes the following VSTi
- true pianos (64 bit)
- session 3 drummer (2 instances)
- Kontakt (scarbee bass)
- Garritan Jazz Band (2 instances)
- Dimension Pro (3 instances)

I've also have these effects at the buss
- Tracks Classic EQ
- CSR Hall Reverb

Turning off CSR Hall Reverb, and the white noise goes away immediately.

Can anyone verify if CSR is causing your X2 to behave like this ?

-------
Edit :

Starting X2 new, I inserted CSR.. found out the reason.. it's running in demo mode, asking me to authorize it again.

But in X1, its running ok.

So, is this normal to have to re-authorize your VST everytime you upgrade DAW ?

Re:Report your X2 (running, not install) problems here. 2012/09/24 21:20:31 (permalink)
Missing 'Now Time' in X2

Reproducible :

If I have an X1 project, with an un-docked Console windows maximized, covering the main X1 windows, and do a Ctrl-S (save), I would have this windows state saved as well.

Then opening the project with X2, the 'Now Time' will be missing when you move the Console windows away.

In X1, moving the Console windows away, the 'Now Time' is still there.

Edit :

I've also tried a PRV windows instead of the Console (un-dock, max it, cover it over the main X1 windows, and Ctrl-S), same result - opening the project in X2, the 'Now Time' is also missing.

Further testing, missing X2 'Now Time' is reproducible on new X2 project.

- Create a new X2 project (no tracks will do)
- undock console windows, and maximize it, covering on top of X2 main windows (probably any un dock, max, windows will also cause this).
- Ctrl-S

Close X2, open X2, open the project. 'Now Time' missing.

Edit : Problem reported.

After 3 attempts I got X2 up and running. I'm assuming the white dotted type line is the draw tool?
It drove me nuts trying to get rid of it.....thanks for pointing how do get rid of the smart tool function. I wish Cakewalk had not done this, it's just an extra step to turn something off that I don't really use anyway. I was just trying to go through the markers in a tune and this pesky white line was following the whole time

I agree, I too find this dotted white line following everything in the timeline incredibly annoying but how do we turn it off? Thanks.

Re:Report your X2 (running, not install) problems here. 2012/09/25 03:29:30 (permalink)
Had a few crashes with X2 today. I had installed both 64 and 32 bit.
1)Console emulator is not showing in 32 bit.
2)The 64 bit version, well I had installed the loops and one shot, when I was going thru them in the browser for the first time, the browser crashed Sonar. (At least I think it was)
3) I had selected FX chain in Pro channel, when I choosed a preset FX chain crashed Sonar.

I hope the Bakers are reading it.

I love the TH2, Console emulator and Breverb is a winner. I was think about getting the Valhala Room reverb for 50 Bucks after trying it's demo. That was when Sonar annouced X2 with Breverb included. The rest is history.

Okay, not an install issue, but where is my "Console Emulator Channel" in ProChannel?  I decided to install X2 on my laptop when I'm on the road.  On my workstation, I see both the "Console Emulator Channel" and "Console Emulator Bus" in ProChannel.  The channel is missing on my laptop installation.  I've removed and re-installed twice.  Any ideas :(.

BTW, everything is installed as 64-bit, just like my workstation.

I was trying different key + mouse button combinations with the slider under the transport to see if there was a "fine tuning" mode and I got into a situation where my cursor disappeared in the SONAR window.

I was also trying the handles on the clip fades with different extra keys (CTRL, ALT, SHIFT) and I got into a state where I couldn't let go of the clip fade handle.

Both situations required me to close and reopen X2 to fix the problem.  I couldn't find a recipe to reproduce it.

I'm getting the same behaviour with Izotope Vinyl - its as though the plug in effect is being applied constantly rather than when there is a clip. I've had to workaround it by using volume envelopes on the effect to mute it.

Last night was really frustrating - my project crashed constantly. Basic things like moving clips, selecting tracks and boom. :-( There didn't seem to be any pattern to some of it which is quite un-nerving. Luckily the problem reporter popped up a few times so managed to trap some of them for bug fixing. Hopefully wont be too long for a patch. The project in question was created in X1 - I wonder if projects from previous versions are more susceptible to crashing than new ones started in X2?

I might add that there seems to be a similar (perhaps related) issue with respect to getting buses, and possibly also tracks, to fully get the focus, especially including making the Inspector shift which track's Pro Channel strip is showing.

Are you seeing this when the console emulator is in the track or bus you are clicking from? If so we are aware of that issue and it will be fixed in an update.

I noticed an issue last night - whereby all the sound on the vocal bus stopped for no apparent reason halfway through playing back the project. Really odd but again I couldn't recreate it. Everything else was fine and there was no explanation for it as far as I could see (volume automation going crazy or anything like that). The only way I could cure the problem was to quit and restart and everything was ok after that. I did have the new console bus emulator turned on. Wonder if it could be related?

Did you have a V-Vocal clip in the project?  I've had issues mostly during record where V-Vocal clips are silent.

Other issues I've seen:

On my system creating a V-Vocal clip does not automatically mute the underlying clip and I have to do it manually.

I've also seen the Prochannel refuse to scroll, and Prochannel modules graphics disappear.

Wait, wait, what key is it in?

Suspected new bug - I've got some automation recorded on a bass track - I open up the automation lanes and remove it. It appears to delete successfully however when I go back to the track and expand the automation lanes again they are still there. Anyone else seeing this?

Also I noticed that you can remove them all except for the EQ.
Another "Very Minor Nit...™."

It's my understanding that this is by design and not a bug at all. Searching this forum using google should give you some "hits" as this was discussed in the past.

I've only had one crash so far (while adjusting parameters during playback to a 3rd party , 64-bit plugin [so, no Bitbridge involvement]), but I am experiencing an annoying bug; during playback, I sometimes cannot manually select an individual track or bus to, let's say, adjust its volume. I have to hit stop or pause on the transport.

I am also occasionally experiencing a problem with the ProChannel - after having a track selected, I will jump over and select a new track, but sometimes the ProChannel on whatever track I previously had selected remains in the left panel and I end up editing the previous track's ProChannel, instead of the new one that I have selected.

I'm running X2 64bit on a Windows 7 Pro 64bit system.
