bapu <edit: OK, they figured out how we were gonna abuse them and they were removed.> At first we thought it would be cool to try it out, but really the result was just even more vertical height under your avatar so it was nixed. The other lame thing (as Susan noted) is that there is no way to assure that those marking a post as helpful isn't just them logged in as someone else.

I was recreationally giving everyone a helpful mark. Just to see if the system could determine if helpful marks were helpful.

Hi there Willy I think that's a good idea - most members already know those whose advice they can trust, and newbies will soon learn anyway. Willy Jones [Cakewalk] The other lame thing (as Susan noted) is that there is no way to assure that those marking a post as helpful isn't just them logged in as someone else. I thought only the OP could mark a post as helpful?

mike_mccue Nice, a double post.... this .net stuff must be either 1) robust 2) the prize you get for being a Microsoft partner of the year. :-( Mike, Maybe you did not notice; this forum software is made by the same people that made the previous version. I only know this because last year I was looking for forum software and made it a point to check out the vendor of this stuff. It's the same company as back then.

I know that... but thank you and understand that it has to be mentioned. I'm just being cranky... but I do sincerely feel that this latest version is way more bloaty than the previous and I will not be surprised to learn that it enjoys the very latest security holes as well. best regards, mike

I agree Susan, the lack of quoting indication is really starting to bug me - it was working at first so it must have been deactivated somewhere along the way. I actually find myself missing the 'quote in a box' in the old forum. Edit - Typo
