Re-wire option gone!! Melodyne issue

Need some help here. I just upgraded from X1 Studio to X3 Producer. I downloaded Melodyn, but I can not access it. I am no longer seeing the Rewire option available. (it is greyed out). I am running 64bit version of X3. I deleted and re downloaded Melodyn a couple of times. Both selecting 32 and 64 bit options and then 32 and 64 options separately. I'm glad that I still have V-Vocal, but I would like to use Melodyne. Any help would be appreciated. If I posted in the wrong forum, sorry. Thanks

Melodyne has been integrated with ARA into X3. Now you need only select the area you wish to work with and create a "Region FX" with Melodyne (Select an area, right click ->Region FX->Melodyne->Create Region FX). IIRC, I saw a post to this effect long ago, and think I remember that "Re-wire" is now replaced by this (but cannot recall the exact details offhand).

Edit: I believe the Melodyne installer also allows you to install the Re-Wire version, which is part of the Melodyne installer (there are options for 64-bit, 32-bit, Re-wire, etc.). I just checked X3 and I do, in fact, have the Re-wire installed, but never used it.

Or select an audio clip (or part of one) and do CTRL+M.

Thanks, I'm going to check this out as soon as I get to my gear. I chose the option for re-wire install when I downloaded it, but I'm not seeing Re-wire option available in X3 on any project. It's like it doesn't exist. I downloaded Melodyne from their site and then I had to run the set up. When I select the region FX option at the top of the clip, I only see Vvocal available. However I have not tried this option__ (Select an area, right click ->Region FX->Melodyne->Create Region FX).

Hmmm, that is sounding a lot like SONAR is not scanning the VST folder Melodyne installed to. By default, Melodyne installs to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3" check your VST scan paths (Preferences->File->VST Settings) and make sure that one is listed. Also do a manual rescan of the VSTs while on that page (you can also check the rescan failed and existing VST options there for that manual scan).

Re: Re-wire option gone!! Melodyne issue 2014/03/27 14:41:39 (permalink)
This is what Sonar advised me to do. I did all that. The path is C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Melodyne. (I believe) They also told me to check that the .dll file was in this location. It is, but the file is Ssetup.dll. The file in my VST3 is Ssetup.dll but the file in my VST2 folder is just Melodyne.dll. I am perplexed. I am pretty computer literate, but not an expert. I assumed that with the upgrade to X3 Producer all this would have been done.

I am not seeing the .dll file in the VST3 folder. It is in the VST3 folder. This is the location where it is C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2\Celemony\Melodyne. I added scan path to the VST2  and VST3 folder, but Melodyne still does not come up under region effects. Only V vocal appears. I'm at a loss here.

Re: Re-wire option gone!! Melodyne issue 2014/03/27 18:32:30 (permalink)
There should not be a dll in the VST3 folder. VST3 plug-ins have a VST3 extension. The default location for the VST3 Melodyne plug-in is "C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Celemony\Melodyne".  The Region FX menu requires the VST3 version of the plug-in. I have not used the demo version of Melodyne or X3 but there was no special configuration necessary (other than registration) to get Melodyne Essential or Editor to work in X3. It appears as a VST3 plug-in, as a Region FX and a Rewire device in the synth rack.

Re: Re-wire option gone!! Melodyne issue 2014/03/27 18:56:53 (permalink)
When I select insert re-wire device, that selection is greyed out...when I choose region FX I am not seeing the Melodyne option. Melodyne is in the following location C\program files\common files\vst2\celemony\melodyne and I have created a scan path to this location as well. I am at a friggin' loss. I am going to have to contact cakewalk support. One thing I find odd...I am seeing Melodyne singletrack.exe and MelodyneReWireDevice.dll as well as the Registration and Activation files in another location...C:\Program Files\Celemony\Melodyne singletrack. Not in the common files folder.

I did this a few times. I even de-selected 32 bit and just chose 64 bit options and vice a versa. I'm just not getting it.

Yes, the 64bit versions of the standalone program, rewiredevice.dll and documentation are installed by default in "C:\Program Files\Celemony\Melodyne singletrack". Does the standalone version run? Again, VST2 it is not going to be picked up in the Region FX menu in SONAR. ARA requires VST3.

The stand alone version runs, but from what I see trying to edit vocals is very clunky. It has to be done a small section at a time. I'm trying to get it to run through sonar.

Verify the VST3 is in the scan path. I thought "c:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3" was part of the path by default. The scan paths are shown in Preferences > File > VST Settings. There was nothing special needed to get it working in the full version of X3. The VST2 plug-in is completely unnecessary.

Works great for me. I like editing small sections (clips) at a time. Split the clips if necessary over verse/chorus etc.
I would recommend: Edit on a cloned track (so you have a backup). When you've finished, save it, then bounce it down to another track so Melodyne is completely removed, then use that as the playback track and archive off the other tracks.

Scook...VST3 is in the scan path. Still not working. Luckily I still have Vvocal. IT's easier using that than editing small clips. Still I would like to use Melodyne as well. I am friggin stumped.by the way...the 64 bit version of the stand alone does not open.

Re: Re-wire option gone!! Melodyne issue 2014/03/27 19:51:38 (permalink)
All the paths I provided above assume a 64bit installation of SONAR and Melodyne
The 32bit versions would be installed in "C:\Program Files (x86)" by default instead of "C:\Program Files". 64bit SONAR requires 64bit Melodyne. 32bit Melodyne should only be used with 32bit SONAR.

I would contact Celemony about the 64bit standalone failure.

The failure of the 64bit standalone goes a way to explain why the software is unavailable to 64bit SONAR. What it is going to take to make the 64bit demo work I cannot say.

Final question...I was looking on Melodyne website and it said If the installation of Melodyne was unintentionally interrupted (which is a possibility) and only succeeded in installing Sonar X3, I should run the Sonar installation program a second time, this time remembering to install Melodyne. Should I uninstall any Melodyne components that have been installed already and then run the installation of Sonar again?

Re: Re-wire option gone!! Melodyne issue 2014/03/28 16:51:36 (permalink)
I re-read the original post. Since you own X3 Producer, there was no need to download anything directly from Celemony. Melodyne is included with X3 Producer and the SONAR installer launches the Melodyne installer as part of the X3 installation process. It does make sense to remove Melodyne and SONAR, clean up the registry and the run the X3 Producer installer again.

Did Melodyne install with SONAR this time? Running the installer as administrator may help. It also may need background processes like virus scanners shutdown. It may be a MS redistribution library problem. Is the OS up to date? It may be faster to call Cakewalk Tech support for a resolution.

Also, you did say you did a rescan of the VSTs but I always thought you needed to do a reset too, if there are "broken" ones to fix.
