Yeah, it's a negative for me. Otherwise, I really like the new theme, but for practicality's sake, I'm sticking with the old one.

It will be better to introduce an option to enable or disable full colorization.

Its not quite as simple as that unfortunately. Since this is a dark theme the colors of the track controls and text conflict with the colorization of the tracks so this was intentionally not colorized for the entire strip.

So all you guys who desperately need full colourization might need a trip to mercury for a while. Meanwhile Bakers could do some update to make the colours bit more apparent.

For me...
Pros:
+ New LP plug-ins no longer consume CPU
+ ACT mapping less confusing
+ Sticky WAI/Name in the Console view is helpful
Cons:
- WAI no longer can be moved in the Console view

+- Tungsten looks good in general, but the "Record" button in Tungsten is not for me (disturbing colors combination and not as good visible when armed as in the original schema). I have special color perception, so that is rather personal.

For the Tungsten theme, if the channel isn't colored the way it is in Mercury, it would be cool if the gold accents/buttons and plug-in blocks echoed the custom colors of the strips.

I found a little bug with the color setting for Folder text. i posted it in the "problem reports".
http://forum.cakewalk.com/color-setting-is-wrong-m3423830.aspx

Basically - the setting for bus text changes the folder text AND the bus text ;-)
That should be easy to fix - it always *used* to work ;-)

funk
I also noticed that if I have the "plugins" tab selected in the browser, then press "b" 2 times to collapse and expand the browser, the search box redraws incorrectly.

If I then select another category (eg. go from audio fx to midi fx), it corrects itself.

Anyone else seeing this?

no it seems to be fine here

I didn't mean to be ungrateful in my comment. I meant to be helpful, actually.

Anyway, yes, I like the update. I find it particularly useful in a dark room.

Also, I have already discovered a case where a track fader wasn't where I thought it was not because I heard it but because I could see it.

I never noticed before, but on the buses, there is a little lost room at the bottom of the bus where there might be an input assigned. I wonder if this space might be cleverly used or reclaimed. I figure it must be hard or it would have already been done. I can't be the only one to notice.

All the best!

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Yeah if you switch back and forth between the Two UI choices, Tungsten is so much easier on the eyes! Also looks more "Professional"

This update doesn't apply to Sonar X3 (and early versions), but only to Sonar Artist (or Steam Edition), Professional and Platinum (membership model - from 2015 onward)

There will be no more updates for X3. Product development for X3 stopped in March 2014. Support for X3 was discontinued this year.

they will love that, as good as x3e was, platinum is another step up the ladder, quite a big step imo.

after installing the early release and then the latest official update i have been using sonar much more than i have since back in kingston and it feels very good, and looks very good. my first impression of the new theme was not entirely positive, although generally it looked great from the start, a few things (that orange and some other) put me off, but after a short time i don't even notice those things i didn't like upon first sight, and everything seems to fit together fine now to me. maybe a bit of a 'culture shock' when i first seen it

very good work

Just to add my 2 cents....I like the new look, and the ease of switching back.  I'll be interested to see if more options come into play as time goes on.....but when I loaded a project with the new UI, I liked it quite a bit.

Sonar Platinum, Win 10 Pro 64, Intel i7 4770K, 16GB DDR3 1600, 1 x 250GB SSD, 2 x 2TB SATA, Roland OctaCapture, Roland XP-30 (Controller only), Shure KSM-44, Rode NT-1, Shure SM57, Numerous Guitar Amp sims, Komplete 6/7, Alchemy, Custom built guitar, Carvin Amplifiers.

I liked the idea of a dark flat theme, but had to revert to Mercury. There's more to design then just staying trendy, you know.
No track colouring is a showstopper.
My eyes also hurt from too much contrast and complete lack of borders given the amount of buttons and other controls. Especially since many are amber-lighted or has scarlet red in them. Would be nice to change at least this amber colour to Photoshop grey, Mercury blue, or Artist green.
There's also some colour inconsistency: the bluish whites of the text in the transport bar vs snow whites of the font in the control surface bar.
Overall I also would like to darken the whites.
And selected track highlighting has always been a problem. Doesn't work at all in Mercury. And is too subtle in Tungsten.
I think the theme has a great potential as long as the above issues are addressed.
