Don,

thanks for your immediate reply and your welcome. I wasn't sure if it's better to start a new thread or reply to this one because on some forums the user base prefers keeping topics together.

I tried to load the various color schemes exactly the way you described above and nothing happens. The colors simply don't change. The confusing thing is that it works with my own exported .clr test files but fails with any from the collection...

Okay this is a weird one then. If you have sucessfully created .clr files - and have sucessfully loaded and unloaded them....

Here is something to test.
#1 Open the colors dialog box, and make sure that you have saved your preset (the disk icon at the top of the colors dialog box. I use a name like Don01, Don02, Don03, etc to keep my presets in order
#2 I always click the icon twice to have Sonar ask me if I want to overwrite the existing configuration so as to make sure it has in fact saved as I intended.
#3 Then click on the default all colors button - DON'T SAVE this preset (you should notice your preset should now have an asterik indicating the preset has changed
#4 Now pull down the preset drop down list and find your custom preset by name - when you select that, Sonar should revert back to your custom colors - now save the preset again possibly this time with a Don04 name (click twice to make sure it saves and asks you for an overwrite)
#5 Now you have gotten Sonar to respond to the current preset with changes
#6 Now import your or my .clr file and then save a preset with another name.

All of that should reconcile the imported color scheme with the current preset. Good Luck.

Thanks again, Don.
Unfortunately, I'm still out of luck. The "foreign" imported files are completely ignored and all currently selected colors stay unchanged.
Maybe it's a bug and I should contact the Cakewalk support team.

My imagination starts to itch looking at your works, guys. I'm waiting for my PE 6. Should get it in a few days. Is it possible to make several designs and switch between them depending on which phase of the project you're working on? That would be practical. It would be great to have different screens for MIDI session (need the piano roll often), audio session ( all audio tools up front and high tracks) and finalizing ( room for plug-in windows) etc.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Actually the color scheme is a global setting that allows you to customize each 'area' (e.g. Console View, Track View) etc, but each of these areas is part of the global color scheme.

Whoever made that "FL Studio 6" theme rocks... I just switched to it (to have a slight change of pace when I got bored) and it is VERY nice! I tweaked the meter colors a bit, but overall that scheme looks fantastic! Thanks!

I agree - I've been using that scheme ever since it was posted. It looks great and is SOOOOOO easy on the eyes in almost any lighting.

Yea, I wasn't sure at first (although I used to use FLS exclusively) because it is such an inversion of what I've become used to... but after about 10 minutes I realized how much easier it was on the eyes!

Thank you :-) It's my favorite as well. Just curious, what did you do to the meters?

Hey all, just a quick heads up that thanks to jeremy there's a new scheme available at http://sonartemplates.googlepages.com

Just a thought but if people wanna share mix and track templates then I'd be quite happy to make a page for them, send them to popworksATgmailDOTcom with a brief description of what they are meant to do and perhaps mention any particular plugs that might be needed and I'll make them available.

Cheers

I think I went less green and more blue-ish for the console meters... with a bit more red in the peak section.

I may have tweaked a few other things, but only in the console view. I really love the track view!

I'm almost certain the answer is no, but I gotta ask... Is there any way to assign different colors to the foregrounds and backgrounds of each frozen track? I work with most things frozen most of the time, so all I see are iceberg blue clips everywhere. If the normal colors could just be swapped around, that would be great.

What's up Guy's and Girl's?

I just want to say This color preset stuff is right up my ally and want to share my color preset with all you beautiful people here.
I definately was going for easy on the eyes.
I also wanted my audio/synth/midi files to be color coded...., but I definately don't like multi colored clips.
I have to admit, I was influenced a bit by all of these awesome presets here.
No matter what I do, I still can't get the meters where I want them, so I reccomend segmented meters with this preset (options/audio meter settings/segmented meters, then check both boxes for track view and console view.....very nice).

Here's a pic for your liking:

Kind of a Blue/Gray theme.........

You can download here:
Lost Souls Color Preset

Anyhow, I think I'm gonna work on some custom track icons next (Geeeeeeek), but I hope someone appreciates this preset.
Rock On!

ps: Rothchild, if interested, feel free to put on your site.

Hey Lost, I like the scheme a lot. However I would not be able to use it as-is, because a) you really need for MIDI clips to have different colors. Try selecting two MIDI tracks and looking at the Piano Roll View. I much prefer getting the color hint of which track I am edit as I switch back and forth.

Also, I like making it very clear in the track strip which widget is Pan (orange), Trim ( blue), etc etc. Having them all the same color would not work for me.

But still, good one!

After further review.....

I usually have the Piano Roll View open on the right monitor. All the midi clips are light blue except the the track that I highlight in the trackview, which is dark blue (in this case, the bottom track).

I would love for Sonar to have the ability to tile a background texture. I just want it to have the brushed aluminium effect - just to finish off a great UI. Have a look at Podium for example, that's a fine lookin' UI.

@marty

i'm from germany too and guess what, i have the same problem. yesterday evening i solved it. the reason why you can't import the theme files is that the german version uses different parameters as the english version. for example "trackname" is called "spurname" in sonar6 german. obviously the german version can't load american theme files.
yesterday i adapted a theme with coping and pasting all colornumbers. it took about 1 1/2 hour. is there mayby a editor or little program which changes this automaticly? or mayby a site for german theme files?

I recently lost the files behind the page where I was sharing some color schemes. I've just recreated it but the schemes are slightly different, and in SONAR 6.2 .CLR format. Enjoy!

Stickman_Alternate.clr.txt

Prodigal ColorClips.clr.txt

Just right-click, save to disk, and remove the .txt extension.

Hi Colin, I can't download yours color schemes : right click/save as -> I have a .htm instead of .clr and click -> I have "The page or service you requested is not available."

Thanks.

Manolo, are you sure you are right-clicking on the file name? I'm not seeing any problems at this end. What browser are you using? In FireFox I right click and select "Save Link As" and it prompts me for a local destination, with a .clr extension. Is anyone else having a problem?

I'm using IE7 and getting the same error. IF I right click, it downloads (for example) Prodigal_ColorClips.htm - an HTML file. Within that file is the same error page.
