mike_mccue I'm starting to feel jealous of all the fun you guys are gonna have. Can someone smuggle in a sack of Samosas as a gift to Brandon? If I manage to get a pass, I'll be happy to have a go. Where does one find Samosas in Anaheim?

Samoans are very hard to smuggle in, as they tend to be rather large.

I hope he doesn't invite a bunch of Somoans... because those guys can eat some buffet.

I did a quick recon at Anaheim Garden Walk. I found Pop The Cork. It was closed for a few days. It seems that the owners were stuck in bad weather back east. Hopefully, they'll be open in time for NAMM. It's a wine bar, so it doesn't meet the beer requirement. Bar Louie or Fire & Ice might be an option. Both looked fairly quiet while I was there, but this weekend is probably not typical. There might be a few more options if I look a little harder. Some of the other restaurants California Pizza Kitchen, Cheese Cake Factory, and Bubba Gumps are possible. Those are probably going to be on the noisy side. McdCormick & Schmick could work, but WE might be too noisy for them. I didn't see any Indian restaurants in the AGW. Was it there? Let me know if there are any questions.

Pop the Cork was the place that popped into mind initially, as it was quiet when I was there. But wine ain't everybody's cup of tea, even in California. One of the bars you scoped out might be the best bet. We can always choose one for our initial rallying point and move to another venue if it doesn't work out. You decide, 55.

Oh the pressure! I'd go with Bar Louie as the meeting point. It seemed to have the best combination of quiet, food and variety of alcohol. Like you said--we can always change venues.

OK, let's recap. We'll meet on Thursday, January 13th at Bar Louie. What time?

I'm not changing Bar Louie as our meeting place, but it would have been appropriate to meet at Sertinos--it's a coffee house. The trouble is that the steamers and assorted coffee machines make a bunch of noise.

OK, it's on. Thursday, January 13th, at Bar Louie. How does between 7 and 8 PM sound? Anybody who wants my cell number to aid coordination, send me a PM. Now, we just need to announce it more broadly. Perhaps I should open a thread on the X1 forum called "X1 sucks and you junior cadets who think it's great can bite me" so that everyone will read it.

Bit, do we have to bring our X1 badges box top to be part of the inner circle?

Unless I find I've been banned from the CW booth for disloyalty, I'll hopefully be sporting a new X1 T-shirt so we can complain about how lacking it is compared to previous years' T-shirts.

bitflipper We could: 1) take turns speaking/joking/singing With bapu in the group, and assuming he talks as prolifically as he writes in the CH, "taking turns" might require one of those machines that dispense numbered tickets at the DMV. Bless his heart Wish I could be there... actually I wish I could be anywhere south of here, looking forward to the stories and pics.

Julibee, you can be both nerd and geek, they are compatible. But if "nerd" doesn't suit your self image, how does "nerdette" sound? Too dainty? Maybe "nerdinatrix".

I will do everything in my power to be there on any night you pick for a beerup (I'll have diet coke, tho, if that's OK). Wait. You mean bapu has been posting while sober all this time?
