In the word of Rodney King (rest in peace) "Can't we all just get along?" What we have experienced in the last few weeks has been the work of trolls. I can't help but wonder what amusement God Particle gets. I know he can't log in any more. I am willing to bet he comes back and reads through the thread just to view the damage he has caused. I am willing to bet he is amused by it. He probably laughs out loud when he looks at all the strife.

At one time this was a pretty peaceful place. Yes we had our disagreements but we reasoned through them. Somehow emotion and self defense took over. The troll did his work and is having his amusement at our expense! I understand Shawn's  motives and that is why I don't condemn him.

I implore everyone here to forgive, forget and move on! Let us set aside our emotion and any lingering bitterness. If I said anything that someone found offensive then I apologize right now. Let us move on to talking about what I feel is the greatest DAW on the planet. Let us rally behind that!

I think everything is cool. I just misunderstood something Chuck said. Everything's ok.

Hard to believe it's Monday though I have to say. Man, the days and weeks are just flying by. Seems like last week was a blur of a bad dream.

Just so that you know my comments were not directed completely at you. They are directed toward the on edge tense defensiveness we all feel as a result of the last few weeks. I was not pointing at you by any means.

Re:SONAR IS TOTALLY AWESOME! 2013/02/11 10:37:51 (permalink)
YES - Sonar is totally awesome!   It helps me get my ideas down quickly and with a bit of effort on my part, sounds pretty darn close to what I had in my head - sometimes even better.  I can share that, in turn, with other musicians so I can perform the work. If I can perform it in front of just one person, and it rewards them in some small way, then I have fulfilled what I set out to do with Sonar.  It makes my musical dreams come true and might I add, brings them to life.

I have somewhat a different perspective any forum in general.  Things aren't black and white, things aren't grey. Life is a world of color, so is, in some respects, a forum.   It is my sincere hope, that we work together to learn and grow because of it, to solve problems together, to commiserate and understand the pain when things don't go right, to believe in the needs of others, to revel in joy that we and others have in our craft - in the name and nature of music.

I would like to thank Shawn for this thread and for each of his replies.  He indeed adds to the color of what we all do.

chuckebaby

what are you talking about?

im talking about the way jb bullys you.

re-read it again,

maybe i should have been more clear, hows this:

"the way you treat members sometimes with little to no respect is very disrespectful.(like  THE WAY YOU TREAT bub)
i think some of the things he has said to you go a little beyond common respect.
All I can do is say I'm sorry. I mis-read it. This is going from bad to worse man.

I'm glad someone else picked up on that about him. Thanks.
ya sure it would have been nice if you had my back today.

sorry still feel the same way, songs belong in the forum unless you have permission.
i think shawn a good guy and a tallented musician but its the second time hes done it.
dude you know how much i love sonar, but my songs are either in my sig or in the song forum
Yeah, you're right. Songs should go down in the Song forum. There's been so many bad things going on here lately, it just seemed trivial to me at the time, but you are right, this isn't the right place for it. If the shameless plug thing gets to you ... do not go down to the CH. OMG.  Putting your songs in your signature is a very effective way to get people to listen. I had thousands of hits on Bub's Rap, but hardly any replies in comparison. That's the kicker. It's nice to see your tune on the front page of the Song's forum, even if people don't like it, it's still nice to see it show up. Oddly, the other one with the most hits was Silver Bells. All year long I get hits on it, yet hardly no one has ever commented on it. I don't get it? People must like Christmas music I guess. LOL
thats not what bothers me,its the personal attacks, the name calling. the "forum police" and cowboydan refering to me as "Looser"
there are many ways to tell me you dont like my opinions without having to resort to lowerng yourself to name calling
I agree with you on that. It's hard to engage people that do that because it usually gets real ugly real fast and they have a tendency to hold a grudge. I think it will get better. I think that particle dude got the admin's attention and they'll be keeping a better eye on the forum for a while now.

bub youll always be my friend no matter what.
even if we have a disagreement now and then, doesnt matter.I stay mad for like a day them im over it.
dont take it the wrong way but you dont have it in you to be a bully..lol you take a lot of heat around here for speaking your concerns.
but you still keep comming here.i think you like the "good" people and you like sonar as a daw.

i think theres alot of heat flying around here right now(Gparticle got us going good) and im going to lay low a while.
still come here but just lay low.

peace

Re:SONAR IS TOTALLY AWESOME! 2013/02/11 12:41:57 (permalink)
@DigitalBoston - Really? In the days before DAWs if a mixing desk broke down or a piece of outboard effects gave you trouble you learned how to fix it or work around it. This required knowing the gear inside out. Not only that you got to know what effected what. You didn't cancel the session on the basis that something needs a patch. You just got on with it. Later you would go deep into the situation to get it resolved. Not blame something and walk away. If you couldn't fix it you would speak to somebody who has experience.

Sonar X2A is not broken. If you have stability issues you need to dig deep.

as much as my new moto is to avoid contreversy, you took a very nice swipe at me on this thread yesterday.
so let me return the favor about your so called "broken sonar"

2 weeks ago one of the best techs we have on this forum asked for your specs on a thread you started asking for help
http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2766712

you totaly ignored him

he asked you 3 more times in this thread for your specs.
but instead, you ignored him and instead went on about: "so whats a good card with 8 or more inputs thats under 200 bucks??"

so get this...you ignore him and make 4 more posts and never answer him once.
http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2767732

in my opinion.Robert is one of the most knowlegable people on this forum.but you didnt want to hear what your real problem is.

you know clearly what your issue is yet you wander the forums bashing sonar, claiming its broken.

your deltacard ?
drivers for your deltacard?
sound furmiliar?

ask around.

in my experience there are those who want to solve their problems, then their are those that would rather ignore the real problem
and blame sonar...why ?

cause its a lot easier.

good day sir.

Sonar have the ability to bring out what we really are, or what we really have inside through music creation...is an excuse to display the hidden things...in some cases(during  performance)  you just have to see the faces...weird!

Re:SONAR IS TOTALLY AWESOME! 2013/02/11 22:37:41 (permalink)
as i agree and indeed am guilt of no fighting harder to get the issues resolved
i did just go back to work on x1 and have shelfed the intire x2 version unless there is something i realy want then i go in mix and get out of x2
 but remember 1 cold fact
in all my years in a studio the reels never stoped dead, and like a rusty wheel that the tape sit on keep droping and crashing clicking. the dat never died and any fx i would borrow, those days are gone sadly nothing is as stable, and so many odd things like move a clip crash and so on make any digital studio less stable. so unless you have the dream studio with all compatable hardware your stuck in a Digtal Abyss. so after years of endless updates the most important gets brushed under the rug for toys, stability over toys i say, PC or more plugs and bridge nonsence, is all hype, and on a forum full of praise the issues gtt lost. remeber again[ expanded] i cryed like a  baby about that scam, content held back for proffits sadly broke the  producer build more, stability is the main  issue
sorry if i sound offencive. but its only cus i do care about sonar even if it treats me like sH&$.

Cheers Dig. Nb just because it works in X1 it doesn't mean that drivers or firmware are not at fault. Or that windows update doesn't need to be run, and we are assuming you are running X2A. Don't be afraid and always take backups.

Re:SONAR IS TOTALLY AWESOME! 2013/02/12 07:30:25 (permalink)
@DigitalBoston - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE provide DETAIL on the issues you are having, AND please detail your computer system, and the audio interface settings you are using with X2a when you are having these problems.

I cannot seem to get through to you that we are a fairly competent (sometimes) group of folks willing to help you - but you keep skirting around and ignoring multiple requests for you to detail your system and the issues you are having.

Nobody here can FIX true bugs, other than Cakewalk, but some things CAN be resolved, through some cooperative debugging, and sometime workarounds can be found for other issues.

The key word in this is COOPERATIVE - you MUST provide the information if you have any hope of getting past whatever is happening.

YOU control what changes you may or may not implement - but if you do not give us any opportunity to know more about both your system (in DETAIL), as well as your issues (in DETAIL), NOBODY can help you and you will simply remain pissed off needlessly.

So, I don't get it - what is the difficulty in your posting the requested information?  It boggles my mind that you have not done so.

Even if you remain with X1 for the moment, we might be able to offer some suggestions for whenever you ARE ready to try to get X2a more stable on your system.

So, what's it going to be????????????????????????

I do see that you have posted some system info, and that you are trying to put together a video to show some of the issues.

We here in the forum can still help in the meantime - without your having to change anything yet - by your adding some additional info.

Please respond to each of the following:

1.  What version of Windows 7 x64 are you using (Home, Premium, Ultimate)

2.  Do you have all Windows maintenance applied?

3.  For your audio interface, what is the Sample Rate and ASIO Buffer set to?

4.  In Sonar X1 AND X2a, what Sample Rate is specified?  Also what is total round trip latency showing as?

5.  PRECISELY what driver do you have loaded for your audio interface?  (version 1, 2.1, etc....)

6.  What is the PRECISE motherboard in your computer, if it is one you built, or if it is a pre-built - what is the exact model of the computer?  (I want to look at available maintenance for it)

Thanks - PLEASE allow us to at least look for some areas where you can try to improve your situation.  All you have to do is answer the above questions so that we can look for assistance for you.
