SONAR Lexington Update - now available

It’s the holiday season, and we hope all of you are getting ever closer to realizing your musical dreams. We’re doing our best to help contribute to that cause, and given the response to Kingston’s speed increases and improved stability, this month’s Lexington release does an encore by focusing again on making SONAR even faster and more rock-solid that ever. But that’s not all: this month we also unveil five new Style Dials that give you one-knob access to handy processing fx for guitar, vocals, and drums.

Download it today in Command Center!

IMPORTANT NOTE - For Z3TA+ 2 users running SONAR:

If you are running the VST2 of versions 2.1 or 2.2 we'd like for you to update Z3TA+ 2 before loading projects in the Lexington update. Lexington now supports Synth VST3 migration and doing so will ensure your projects load correctly when updating to Lexington.

You can see the full list of changes here:

Sorry about that! Maybe they got lost in all the back and forth between Word and OpenOffice docs. I'll get it fixed for the final release, but meanwhile here they are:

Hats off to the bakers for this new release.
Craig -- Your output is astounding.  I'm not sure if you are pulling files from your archives or actually producing all the material we see in real time, but the shear volume of samples, FX, articles, and support you provide is overwhelming.  Then I consider the consistent high standards you attain and I'm just flabbergasted. Thanks for all you do.

I am very glad this was said. To a certain degree we take Graig for granted. Sort of a Sonar perk for Sonar users. I like to think Mr. Anderton is our secrete weapon that no one else has. We owe him so much there is no way to repay him.

Is there a way we can see bugs/issues not yet resolved in the latest release? Or at least a 'known bug' list? I'd like to find out if an issue I'm having is something that's known or new. This is a really old question I've had, and it could certainly save some time reporting one. I deal with many Telco and Network manufacturers (day job) who are open to providing this sort of information for this very purpose and to stave off many Support calls. Thanks!

Hey everybody...thanks for the props!! The reality is that I use SONAR almost every day, so a lot of what you see is just me sharing what I've found or created. By and large this is a classy forum, with lots of people who are generous with their time and expertise (some of whom definitely have more expertise than I). I find these forums a source of inspiration, so am more than willing to make that a two-way street.

Just hope that I win the lottery because if I do, I'm renting a hotel somewhere and inviting everyone from the forum for a get-together! I think a few million dollars would cover airfare, too

I am more than aware of the challenges Cakewalk and all other music software companies face every day, and have a tremendous amount of respect for the people who provide the tools on which we depend. It doesn't surprise me at all that bugs surface from time to time...it surprises me that any of this stuff works at all.

As to Lexington, big thumbs up to Cakewalk for emphasizing optimizations. While perhaps not as sexy as new features these are making a big (or to quote Donald Trump, a HUGE and AMAZING) difference in my day-to-day work.

The first 3 books in "The Musician's Guide to Home Recording" series are available from Hal Leonard and http://www.reverb.com. Listen to my music on http://www.YouTube.com/thecraiganderton, and visit http://www.craiganderton.com. Thanks!

I am looking forward to the next update but also buying the next year of updates. Between what we get with the software and the excellent community support (and it really is amazing), I told my wife to get me nothing for Christmas so I can buy another year of fun from Cakewalk :-)

I consider optimization, stability, ease of use as the first and foremost priority when arranging, recording and mixing. To me Sonar is head and shoulders above the competition for that matter. Kudos to every Cakewalk engineer, developer, contributor for making this DAW fast and stable, yet feature-rich with unbelievable array of useful tools.

The new Speed Dials look promising. I'm particularly interested in the Depth SD. Is it mono compatible?

Go to "Help" > About SONAR

Your version will be at the bottom left. If you just updated last night though (to the most current version) then you should be on Kingston.

Lexington has not been released yet. This is just a preview (AFAIK).

Cheers.
