I know there were some concerns raised in another thread about Amazon.com estimating that they would not be able to ship SONAR X1 Power for 2 or 3 months since they were currently out of stock.  I received an email on my order status yesterday and they are now estimating a ship date from their warehouse of March 29th.
Hey Keith,

Enjoy the book!

Hey guys, sorry about that: I think my order was one of the last "Ships in 3 to 4 Days" when I ordered it Monday...no, wait: I not sorry. Mwahahahahaa! It caught a truck from Arizona this morning, so if you want to intercept it, rewrite everything so it's wrong and scribble crudely drawn genitalia in the book (if that's what you're planning...and I bet one of you was thinking about it), I imagine it'll be somewhere in Texas this evening. But...which...truck?!....Spock!....which.........truck? [/Kirk]

Hi Everyone...

Those of you waiting for the Kindle version... I've now heard that it should be available sometime around April 8th. That is not a totally solid date yet, but I figured you might like to know. I'll keep you informed and keep my website updated.

Thanks!

Scott,
Do you know if the book will be available on iBooks?
Hi again, Brad...

Just heard back from the publisher... yes, SONAR X1 Power! will be available at the iBookstore, but there's no release date yet.

In the meantime, the Amazon Kindle version will be out very soon and that can be read on all the Apple iPhone, IPad, etc. devices... if that's what you're looking for...

Thanks!

Wow! Yeah, that is fast. I'm glad the book arrived safe and sound. What do you think of the new, larger format?

Thanks!

Much easier to read.  The tradeoff is, it's just so heavy now.  At least it tends to stay where I put it.

Hey Scott,
I just got a chance to go over some of the book and theres certainly a wealth of info in there (for beginner to pro)....very nice job (as always) putting complex things into laymen's terms.

On another note....since you're the Guru of Sonar, do you use Panup's & benstat's mods in your DAW?

Are there any other mods you use on X1 that you can share?

Thanks a lot! Glad to hear you're enjoying the book. If you have a chance, can you drop by the Amazon site and post a nice review?

I've downloaded the mods, but haven't had a chance to check them out.

Don't know of any other mods out there yet...

Thanks!

Are there any other mods you use on X1 that you can share?

Hey Mesh,

I also forgot to mention that I'll be sharing my own way of working with X1 in my upcoming DVD tutorial series: http://garrigus.com/?ProAudioTutor

Thanks!
Scott

That's a good idea Scott.....there's so much within Sonar which I seem to learn only a little at a time, it'll be good to actually SEE a comprehensive package (in your way) on how things work under the hood (via DVD or Youtube). I truly value the tutorials the Bakers put out.....just wish they would do more .
Will look forward to the DVD.

Hey Scott... any status update on the Kindle version? I realize it's not under your control, but maybe you have inside info. Doesn't seem to show up in the Kindle store anyway.

thanks in advance....
Hey Tobias,

The eBook version should be here soon... I posted a note earlier in this topic that read... "Those of you waiting for the Kindle version... I've now heard that it should be available sometime around April 8th. That is not a totally solid date yet, but I figured you might like to know. I'll keep you informed and keep my website updated."

Thanks!
Scott

Hey Scott, that's good news, I'll look for it then. Kindle only, or are you doing a PDF version too? The tutorial videos sound good too.

Let's see how I get on with installing the thing first, I'm a bit stuck - the installer hung at the end of the 'extracting files' process and never came back... several times. I've re-downloaded the installers and will have another go at it, running as administrator, but failing that I guess I'll be on the horn to tech support this evening. Bummer. This is the 6th major version of Sonar I've installed, never had an issue at all before. Any clues anyone?

EDIT - ignore that, the above steps worked. Don't know whether it was re-downloading or running as admin, but something did the trick. Now to run the updates!

OK, I finally had time to open my copy of Power! and I learned two things INSTANTLY: 1) I like the larger type, and 2) this sucker's heavy. Perhaps it's just my pre-pre-pre-dotage. And considering "dotage" is a word only old people use, I imagine I should remove one of those "pre"s. [Heavy sigh]
Regardless of my personal problems: the book looks great! And I am looking forward to dog-earing the pages in the very near future.
Thanks, Scott!

Hey Tobias,

No, there won't be a PDF version because that format is unprotected. The book will only come out in eBook formats that are protected (like Kindle and Nook). But those versions can be read on a wide variety of devices, including Mac and PC.

The last time my books were available as PDF, they got posted for free all over the Internet. Never again...

Thanks!
Scott

Hey Oscar,

Yeah, everyone is loving the new, larger format... including me. I'm also happy that we were able to fit all the chapters in print this time. Some readers didn't really like the download chapters in past editions, and I can understand that since it's nice to have all the content in one place and in print.

Now make sure you read the book cover-to-cover... there will be a quiz later on!

And after you've had a chance to read it... if you have time... feel free to go over to the Amazon site and post a nice review.

Thanks!
Scott

Yeah that's generally the  way it flows. I don't mind, since I do have a Kindle but I find it's not fabulous with images. 'Not fabulous' is meant in an endearing, encouraging way, as I generally really like the Kindle, but really it's rather generous. I understand the reticence to release a PDF, so maybe I'll download a sample when it's released (Amazon generally sets them up by default I think) and see how the images look. Otherwise maybe the Kindle for PC app might offer some help... don't know if the images will come out in colour there or not, but worth a try.
