SONAR X1 Power! Updates for X1b have been posted

To everyone that has the SONAR X1 Power! book (and anyone thinking of getting it)...

Updates have been posted to take into account the changes made in X1b. I already took into consideration most of the changes during the writing process, but a few minor things didn't make it into the book.

Go to my site: http://garrigus.com/?PowerBooks
Then click on the SONAR X1 Power! link and then click the Errata link to see a list of corrections. You can also print out the page if needed.

Thanks!
Scott

    I am SO bummed out.  I have a trip to Erope for two weeks, and wanted to go pickup Sonar X1 power at Borders.  Not only do they not have it, they told me that it was 4 to 8 weeks backordered....they would not even order it for me.   Any idea where I can go buy one today in Atlanta?

    Also Scott, as a side note, Borders in Atlanta has it listed as "Sonar 9 Power".  When I tried to correct them, they proceeded to tell me that X1 means 9 in roman numerals.....funny.

    Hey Frank,

    I'm not totally sure about this, but I think it takes longer for the actual stores to get the book into stock. I don't see any reason why Borders wouldn't order it for you though. And that nonsense with the name of the book is really weird too. I'll be sure to pass your message along to the publisher so they can look into it.

    In the meantime, you could try Barnes and Noble, but I'm really not sure if any of the offline stores have it in stock yet.

    Thanks!
    Scott

    Found it!  Barnes and Noble on Cobb parkway had it.  Wow.  She told me that Borders would not order it because they were going out of business!  Going to get it now...damn...I am so happy.  Can't wait to read it.  Anything included on Vstudio integration?  Buying it wanyway...just wondering.  Thanks man!

    Hey Frank,

    Oh, that's right! I forgot all about that. Yeah, I had heard something about Borders not being able to compete with Barnes and Noble as well as Amazon. I'm glad you were able to find it at Barnes and Noble though and I hope you enjoy it! How do you like the new, larger format?

    Chapter 12 covers automation and control surfaces, but no it doesn't include details about the V-Studio 700 because I have a free eBook available at: http://garrigus.com/?ProAudioTutor
    Although, that is not updated for X1b and I'm not sure if I'll be updating it or not.

    Thanks!

    I just ordered my print copy of "X1 Power" yesterday. Considering the change for X1's GUI, I figured I could use a good walk through of it.
    It's available for Nook, as well, but I don't think it's worth the extra $12 to have it in an electronic copy (it's $40 versus $28 for the print edition).
    Same price: maybe;
    MORE expensive: no;
    a little less due to them not having to keep it in stock nor ship it: yes;
    even less expensive sold as a print/ e-bundle: hell's yes!
    You may wish to speak to your publisher about that one, Scott.  OR market the e-copy directly and save the middleman cost ...of course THAT would make you LOTS of friends on the publishing side. [I did some looking into it (very basic and quick...googled "why do ebooks cost more than"), and it appears to be publishers trying to protect their market that is causing the brainial confoundation and mismatching of prices...nothing at all like digital and the music or movie industry]

    Hey Oscar,

    Thanks so much! I appreciate it.

    Unfortunately, I have no control at all over the book. After I write it, that's pretty much it. The publisher owns all rights. They control how the book is delivered and sold. And I honestly have no idea why the electronic version would be more expensive. It could be that there are some licensing fees for the different eBook formats, but I really don't know for sure.

    Thanks again and I hope you enjoy it!

    I read somewhere that the publishers changed the pricing/marketing model to allow some of the smaller players to compete with Amazon.  This had the unfortunate result of raising the street price of ebooks which one would think should be cheaper than the print versions.

    Hey Keith,

    Sounds like that could be a possibility. Not sure though. I'm actually glad that I don't have to deal with all that, so I can just focus on writing and getting the word out. As well as helping out my fellow Cakewalk users.

    Thanks!

    Doesn't X1 mean 11 in Roman numerals?

    X1 is not eleven in Roman numeral. it is just X One

    XI (eye) is 11. Roman numerals are made with the letters not the numbers.
    I=1 notice difference between 1 (one) and I (eye)
    II=2
    III=3
    IV=4

    I know there were some concerns raised in another thread about Amazon.com estimating that they would not be able to ship SONAR X1 Power for 2 or 3 months since they were currently out of stock.  I received an email on my order status yesterday and they are now estimating a ship date from their warehouse of March 29th.

    Hey Jesse,

    Thanks very much! Sure thing... I'll drive over to the warehouse, pick up a copy and hand-deliver it to your door... but the shipping and handling fee is going to be outrageous. Ha!
