Thanks, Keni! I hope that the book will help X1 users get the most out of the software. And then after reading the book, they'll want to check out my upcoming DVD tutorial series... http://garrigus.com/?ProAudioTutor

I'm not complainin'. LOTS easier to read for these old eyes
Hey Johnny,

Oh, no... I didn't think you were complaining. No worries.

Yeah, the bigger format is definitely easier to read.

Thanks again!

Amazon have shipped mine and it's on it's way from the US now. I really found Sonar 8 Power! very helpful so I'm looking forward to receiving this new book and learning some new things about Sonar X1 that I haven't picked up on my own.
Hey Steve,

Excellent and thanks very much! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the last edition. I hope you enjoy this one as well.

Just curious... where are you having it shipped? Was it easy to have Amazon.com ship outside the US?

GOT MINE !
I had to help the UPS driver carry it in....they have a 50lb limit. ha

It may be the only recording book Ive ever read cover to cover. Im retired so I now have the time to really learn how to record. Surely within "all those pages", lies the road to a gold or platinum record.

Jeff
Hey Jeff,

Ha! LOL! I had a good laugh at that one. Yeah, the book is in a bigger format this time around. I hope you like it.

That's excellent... I'm glad you're reading it cover to cover. That's what I recommend to everyone. Sure it can be used as a reference, but it's definitely better if you read it all the way through at least once. You'll get much more out of it that way.

Thanks!

Scott any idea of when the Kindle version will be available?  I am chomping on the bit as your books have been a great help over the years.

Thanks, Harry
Hey Harry,

Sorry about the wait... I'm not sure yet. We're all (as in myself and publisher) still waiting on Amazon. I've been checking with the publisher, but they say we have to wait for Amazon to get the Kindle version up now. Hopefully, it will be soon. I'll be updating my site with an order link as soon as the Kindle version is ready: http://garrigus.com/?PowerBooks

Thanks!

What exactly are the Sonar Power books?  They seem to get a lot of praise but I've never picked up one.   Does it provide any info that isn't in the manual?  If it's as good as people seem to make it out to be I'm strongly considering picking up a copy.
Hey Brandon,

Thanks for your message! Yes, the Power books are more like a book, rather than a manual. They are designed to be read from cover to cover, and they walk you through all of the features of the software. You'll also find tips in there that you won't find in the SONAR manual. I've got some more information (including a table of contents) over at my site: http://garrigus.com/?PowerBooks

Thanks!

Absolutely!   I'll be ordering mine as soon as X1b is out.  First time in a long time that I felt like I needed a book to help me get around a DAW, but everyone loves yours.  :)
Thanks, Ben! I really appreciate it. Amazon has it available for a nice discount now, but they can change it at any time... just thought you should know. I have a link at my site: http://garrigus.com/?PowerBooks

Now I'm off to do some weight lifting so that in my next author photo I'll be able to put He Man to shame.

Also, a note to everyone...

I was able to compensate for most of the changes in the upcoming X1b update, but a few minor things didn't make it into the book. So I've posted that info on my site. Go there http://garrigus.com/?PowerBooks and then click on the SONAR X1 Power link. Then click the Errata link to find a list of the corrections.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy the book!

Hey Tom,

Thanks! I appreciate your support and I hope you enjoy the book.

After you get a chance to read through the book, if you have a moment, can you drop by the Amazon site and post a review? I have a link to Amazon on the SONAR X1 Power page at my site:
http://garrigus.com/?PowerBooks

And everyone else too... please post a review of SONAR X1 Power up at Amazon... thanks!

Best,
Scott

Hi Scott,

I'm in Australia. I've been purchasing books, CDs and DVDs from Amazon.com for years and it's always been a simple, straight forward process. Never had any problems with them. Just need to wait about 1-2 weeks for the items to arrive.
Sonar X1 Power! should hopefully arrive sometime next week.

Was it easy to have Amazon.com ship outside the US?
From my recent experience, it's easier to order from Amazon.com that it is to order from Amazon.ca (Canada). I had pre-ordered the book by in Jan yet Friday they still didn't have stock at Amazon.ca. I decided to order it from Amazon.com and cancel the .ca order. Friday at dinner time, I received an email that it already shipped

Not sure about other locations, but coming to Canada Amazon was very fair on shipping fees, and also included the "import fee" up front on the invoice (also very reasonable). It cost $5.00 more to order through the US, but most of that was because I chose expedited shipping rather than standard.

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!

Hey Steve,

Thanks very much for letting me know! I appreciate it. That's good to hear because now I won't hesitate to point everyone to the Amazon.com site rather than anywhere else. That's also good news because when my DVD(s) are released, I'll only be able to get them on to the .com site rather than any of the other Amazon sites.

Thanks!

Hey Sean,

Thank you too for this additional info! I appreciate your help as well. Between the info that you and Steve provided, I can feel confident about recommending Amazon.com to anyone outside the US. I'm glad to hear that it's an easy process to order through them and they're aren't any extra hurdles that people have to jump through.

Thanks!

Is it a re-write of 6/7/8 or is it a totally new book?
Hey Stephen,

The material covering older features like CAL, StudioWare, etc. is the same because those features haven't changed at all. So there was no sense rewriting that material. But most of the functionality in X1 has changed because of the new interface and the global tools, so the book includes new material to take those changes into account. It also includes info about the features added in 8.5 because those were not included in the SONAR 8 Power book. Out of all the past editions, I would say that this one includes the most new material and would consider it a new book rather than just an update.

Thanks!

Nope!  Only metaphorically.  (Thanks for my laugh of the day.)  I'm really enjoying Sonar X1 Power.  I promised myself I would read it from beginning to end and not skip around like I did with Sonar 7 Power and Sonar 8 Power.

Yes, yes! Please do read it from cover to cover. I suggest this for everyone reading the book. That's really the only way you're going to get the most out of it.

The SONAR X1 Power book isn't like a manual or reference. While it does have an index and you can use it as a future reference, the only way to really find all the great tips and info is by reading the whole thing because the information is interspersed throughout like a regular book.

Thanks!

One more thank you for the book and the larger format.  I have gotten through the first chapter and hope to continue with maybe a chapter or two a day.  I though like others am waiting for the Kindle version and will be ordering it as soon as its available.

Hey Earl,

Thanks to you too! I appreciate it and I'm glad you like the new larger format. It seems to be a hit with everyone. Everyone seems to find it easier to read and I'm happy that we were able to fit all the chapters into print.

Still waiting on word from Amazon about the Kindle version, but I hope to check in with the publisher again sometime this week.

Thanks!
Scott

Usually there's a couple sample pages up on Amazon. I'm curious about the large format.

Hey Larry,

The book and pages are physically larger, which makes the text nice and clear, and easy to read. I don't know if they'll have sample pages up, but I can ask the publisher about it.

Thanks!
Scott

Hi Scott. I received my SONAR X1 Power book Friday from Amazon. Very fast shipping. I've had my nose in it since. It's the first of your Power books I've read, and so far I like it very much. It is simple where simple is required, then it reaches out and surprises you with more advanced concepts and content. Very well done. Besides being a SONAR expert you are obviously a talented author. I like your more personal style as well. I find that having SONAR up and running while reading SONAR X1 Power is very good for drilling all those finer details deep into memory.

Thanks again,

Will
