Hi Scott. I received my SONAR X1 Power book Friday from Amazon. Very fast shipping. I've had my nose in it since. It's the first of your Power books I've read, and so far I like it very much. It is simple where simple is required, then it reaches out and surprises you with more advanced concepts and content. Very well done. Besides being a SONAR expert you are obviously a talented author. I like your more personal style as well. I find that having SONAR up and running while reading SONAR X1 Power is very good for drilling all those finer details deep into memory.

Thanks again,

Will
Hey Will,

Thanks so much for that wonderful review! I really appreciate the great comments and I'm happy to hear you're enjoying the book so much, especially since this is your first one.

If you have a chance, could you post your review up on Amazon? At my site, http://garrigus.com/?PowerBooks click on the SONAR X1 Power! link. Then click one of the order purchase links to get to the Amazon book page. Once there, scroll down to Customer Reviews and click the Create Your Own Review button.

Thanks again!
Scott

Hey Matt,

Thank you too! I appreciate your support and I hope you enjoy the book. It's in a new, larger format making it easier to read... and I like how to stays open better on a flat surface. Plus, we were able to fit all the chapters in print this time.

Also, corrections for the X1b update have been posted. Go to my site and click on the SONAR X1 Power! link and then click the Errata link to view the corrections: http://garrigus.com/?PowerBooks

Thanks!

Hey Kevin,

Yep, I noticed that too. It only just changed earlier today. The book is selling so well that Amazon ran out of copies!

But don't worry... they are the biggest online retailer so I know it won't take 1 or 2 months for them to get the book back in stock.

If you're planning on ordering, please go ahead and place the order because I honestly don't know how long Amazon will keep offering that low discount price. Neither myself nor the publisher controls how retailers sell the book and Amazon can change the price at any time... http://garrigus.com/?PowerBooks

Thanks!

I'm not understanding the wide price difference I've seen for the book.  In email from Cakewalk today, it's listed at $30 through the Cakewalk store.  But on Amazon they list it for $50---quite a difference.

Hey Randy,

No, you read the e-mail wrong. I got that same e-mail and Cakewalk is actually selling the book for $29.95, but they didn't show the list price, which is $49.99.

And Amazon is currently selling for $28.14, but that's because retailers can discount it however much they like off the list price.

Thanks!

Hey Scott, on a whim I ordered the book today about 9 this morning, to start reading about a program I had yet to order yet due to the impending release of x1b.  a few hours later, guess what, it was there, I upped from 8.5.3, DL'd and installed. so far so good.  Cant wait to get the book, thank god I chose the overnight option through amazon.  I should be rocking in no time.  Thanks for another(I am certain) great reference.  I have yet to miss one of yours.

Hiya, Scott - Thanks for the reply.  - I rounded off the price, so the Cakewalk email lists at $29.99 - I said $30--hehe--I fudged by a penny.  But awhile back when I was looking at Amazon, I only saw the $50 - um, $49.99 price - now I see they have it at $28.14, as you said in your response.  That's a very good price, and not much more than the earlier books quite a few years back.

I'm going to see if our public library can keep up to date and get a copy, since they have the earlier Power series-- but Libraries have horrible budget cuts nowadays ever since the fat cat Republicans at Wall Street destroyed the economy, but hopefully our Library can help out our local area by getting the new book.  It occurs to me that I could help out our Library by making a donation.  Good idea - We'll all have it here in Salem, Oregon, one way or another.

Thanks also for the review! I appreciate it. If you have time, could you also post it in the Cakewalk Store?

Hi Tom,

Yep, still waiting on the Kindle version from Amazon. Should be here shortly. I believe that it does provide text-to-speech, but not positive about that. You should be able to find more info about the Kindle reader for PC over on the Amazon site.

Thanks!

Wonder what the ballpark pricing will be for the Kindle version? I'm in Canada so I can't even see pricing for old e-book versions because Amazon blocks it.

Wonder what the ballpark pricing will be for the Kindle version? I'm in Canada so I can't even see pricing for old e-book versions because Amazon blocks it.

KEv
Hey KEv,

Amazon can set the price to whatever they like, but the Kindle version is usually a few bucks less than the print. For example, the print is usually around $31 and the Kindle around $28.

What do you mean that they are blocking the price? Just curious...

Thanks!
Scott

Love the book Scott!

I finally have the luxury of some time to delve into the product more and get all the gear I have aquired over the years a little more automated.

I am looking forward to fully understanding how to actually use soft synths, and a way to control my Roland D550's and OB Matrix-1000 in realtime. The Automation and Control surfaces and Sysx chapters are going to get hit hard with my high lighters...

I like the larger format but wish there was a way to get the book to lay flat better but it does stay open better than a smaller/thicker book would have.
Good job on what I have read so far!

Hey Gene,

Thanks very much! Yeah, it's a big book and there's a lot of information in there. I know it does take some time to get through it, but if you're able to read the entire thing from cover to cover, I promise it'll be worth it. You'll be navigating through SONAR like pro by the end.

It looks like you have a great collection of gear... and I know what you mean about taking years to acquire it. It took me a while to get everything I have together too.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy the rest of the book!

Hi Scott.  My girlfriend bought me the book for my birthday, and you've uncovered for me a number of little details that were a bit hidden to me on the program's surface.  Nice work, and thank you!

Amazon will not show pricing on-screen unless you are using an internet connection which their servers believe is domestic (within the US borders). I'm in Canada, so it doesn't show the price.

Hey Alex,

Excellent! I'm glad to hear you're finding some good info in the book. Thanks!

And please also tell your girlfriend I said thanks for buying you the book for your birthday.
