The store personnel had time to go back and charge me a second time for a product I paid for several hours ago:) I guess that's what I get for complaining about the store... or does it just validate my complaint. I guess I can contemplate that while I wait for the fabled email.

Thank you Seth, its hard to be patient when you've been counting the minutes since you made the decision to get the upgrade and then have to wait another whole day and a half. Sorry to complain, I'm just anxious.

Q: Should I wait to download SONAR X1 when the volume of people will be less? A: No. We have revamped the download system to scale up if required to handle the volume. The amount of people downloading SONAR X1 will not affect your download time. Server Error in '/B2cus' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Really?

I'm actually going through a similar situation with a major retailer who is supposed to be the best place to buy things at, so I know how it feels to wait for a mis-charge to get rectified. Lars is an outstanding Customer Service rep and I'm sure he didn't double charge you on purpose. And I'm sure they're far too busy dealing with phone calls and emails to monitor the forum right now, so I'll go ahead and send him an email on your behalf letting him know the scenario. If you can PM me any pertinent order information like order number and your email address, that would probably help him resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

I got the email a little while ago. It said to wait 24-48 hours... But the the server is so overloaded it's useless for me and many others. Plus, I feel even worse now that I know I have been charged twice for the physical kit. Now I'm stuck calling the damn store again tomorrow so they can fix their mistake. Lousy day for me. I think I paid for 8.5 on the 2nd or 3rd of Nov. I end up one of the last to get an email, and once I did I can't even get to a download page, let alone download it. Besides, I have HughesNet and could probably never get the DL, but it's the principle of the thing I guess, since I know I have to have the phys kit. My first purchase from CW was in 1997, PA6. 13 years of loyalty, so I hope this does not fall on deaf ears. So here it is: I don't like to complain about the store, but last month when I paid for 8.5 I had to call 3 times over the next several days just to get it physically shipped out to me. Things like that make me angry. I expect no better this time. I am a track number person. When I buy online I usually get one fast. Maybe I'm spoiled, but I expect it as part of customer service. The poor store needs an overhaul. I now have a hundred bucks for 8.5, another 30 for the 8.5 phys kit, 30 for the X1 phys kit, and another 30 for a mysterious X1 phys kit I never ordered. $190 upgrade (so far).

I got the email and, as per the email instructions, "purchased" the free upgrade through Cakewalk's store (for $0.00). I am now downloading the upgrade and it seems to be downloading pretty quickly (I'm getting 1.8MB/sec using Firefox). The hardest part was "purchasing" the upgrade through the store. The store was way, way overloaded and it took me about 25 minutes to make the purchase. Some of the page updates took 10 minutes or more of waiting. However, patience persevered and it all worked.
