Doesnt make any difference, I am fully up to date and X1 is crashing more than ever and hanging in the background. :(



My only explanation, since you're running a Dell, is that ome of that pre-loaded crap that Dell puts in your computer might be conflicting with Sonar and causing this. My system is self-built, bare-bones, and so I don't have any of that pre-loaded crap that the big computer manufacturers put in your computer (I believe that stuff is put there intentionally to give you problems so they can make money later on after the warranty expires). 

I hate Dell with a passion after a bad experience buying and returning a laptop 9 years ago. Does it show? :)


Aside from that, I assume you're running a 64-bit system, perhaps expanding to 16GB? RAM is relatively cheap these days.

Nothing to do with the Dell build. I have no Dell software on here at all as its all been rebuilt (many times) Its a 64 bit issue 100% as this never happened with 32 bit. Also I cant see that expanding the RAM will help at all. All other software runs fine (including CS5 which is a very resource hungry suite). Sonar is the only software that crashes out and fails to kill its process in a timely fashion.

Thats the problem, the process cant be killed no matter what you try, whether its via a command prompt, task manager or a specialist software

This happens to me occasionally - and I USED to have to Reboot.  But someone on this forum told me to Kill the Process in task manager (not the application because the application isn't there).  After I kill the Process I can re-start with no issues.  No Re-boot.  This has worked like a charm over the last couple years since I learned this tip.

Have you tried that?

nope. this isnt it guys.
i get the same thing with my fireface 800
however, if i kill it i do find that SonarPDR.exe goes away after about 15-20 minutes.
 
a program that crashes should be able to be restarted after it writes its logfiles (if its instructed to)

Still crashes on the Emu card so it isnt M-Audio exclusively.....

and before anyone asks, yes I completely removed the Delta 1010 and all references from the registry etc etc.....

As I have mentioned before Dimension Pro 64 is a particularly bad culprit when I run it with anything to do with NI Komplete.

I suppose a lot of your projects have Dimension and Komplete... making it hard to test?

You probably mentioned this before, but worth asking:  Do you have any USB devices hooked up?  I've had it where the USB device got messed up and locked sonar requiring reboot.

I dont really use Dimension in my work as it crashes... I just use it as a test crash dummie as I can make it crash everytime.

No USB devices, everything digital internal.

Everything is NI and Cakewalk pretty much.

I really think this is something that Cakewalk havent addressed with Win 7 64 bit......(I could be here for a while banging on about it, in the meantime I'll wait and see what X2 does.)

For the record I use Dim Pro 64 VST in many of my projects without a hitch.  

I do not use NI Kontakt or Komplete.

Your hunch about Dim Pro and NI Komplete may be correct - however I'd expect more people to complain about it.

Maybe a clean install of X2 will fix it.  Good luck.
