yorolpal  - THAT actually kinda made a lot of sence to me.

----

okay let me get this straight (yeah right).

Pre-order period - prices posted on website
Release and Intro price (time frame unknown) - older users will get Jam Points equal to 30% off the Intro Upgrade Price as a bonus?
Regular Price going forward - regular price or sale price if one happens in the future.

Pre-Order pricing is best, Release/Into Price will be nice but a bit higher, and Regular price after into price period has ended will be regular price.

uhhhhh I thought JamPoints could only be used on regular priced items, or converted to GearCredits that could not be used on sale prices.

I am so thoughly confused.

We needed the preorder period so people can get their heads around the pricing.  I kid, I kid.

Peter,

Can I assume this will be a non-downloadable item - i.e., actual goods shipped to the customer?  I expect 33GB would be a ridiculously lengthy download.

'SampleTank 3 will be available for download in July.'

'Boxed version will also be available after release.'

Weird!

So I decided to preorder it.

A 33 GB download - that should be fun!

It means:  Preorder is the lowest pricing available, once released we go to intro pricing.  At that time there will be a bonus in JamPoints for long-time users.  After that, there is the full pricing structure.  I thought it made sense, rereading it now but hey I'm aware directly of all this so of course I get it!

Details (except the bonus part) here, which should be pretty clear:  http://www.ikmultimedia.com/news/?item_id=4109

Thanks for posting this.  If I read this correctly, the lowest price will be for the pre-order period.

Even as a longtime JamPoint user with still some left, it will be cheapest to pre-order.  Is this correct?

Just got an email from Sweetwater (for those who want boxed):

I assume all the other guys will have it too.

Has it been confirmed that version 3 is still backward compatible with all of the version 2 libraries?

BTW, I listened to the soundcloud audio demos linked from the ST3 page.  My first impression is that this has some good sounds.  I honestly hope the best for this release.  Even though it has been a long time coming, I hope and do expect that it will provide some useful tools for the studio.  Looking forward to it.

From the Sounds page:
http://www.ikmultimedia.c...pp=sampletank-3-sounds

SampleTank 2 instruments

For your convenience — and to avoid the hassle of converting your previous SampleTank 2 XL sounds — all of those prior sound libraries are included in SampleTank 3. Already imported, properly categorized and easy to access, previous users will immediately find sounds they are familiar with. And new users will have an additional arsenal of bread-and-butter sounds that have made history. Plus, previous users will also be able to import their previous Combi (now Multi) instruments and be ready to go.

The same previous users of Powered by SampleTank sounds and virtual instruments (such as Miroslav Philharmonik, Sonik Synth 2, SampleMoog, SampleTron and Xpansion Tank 2) will also be able to easily import their sounds and Combis to take full advantage of the whole new world of sounds provided by SampleTank 3.

I have looked around but can't find anything about the acoustic pianos pedal support. Curious if any of the pianos support Half Pedaling, Sostenuto, or soft pedal? Maybe IK can provide an answer.

Kind regards,

Yes, we are missing these types of detail. Do the basses and guitars have legato triggered hammer on and pull off articulations etc. Things we have come to expect from the top Kontakt libraries. Of course it would be churlish to critisise a factory library for not being as full featured as an expensive, dedicated library, but here is the dilema for the would be purchaser, would I, for example, use a ST3 bass guitar in preference to a Scarbee or Orange Tree bass?

While 30GB is on the face of it is a large library it's smaller than the factory libraries of Kontakt, Mach5 and Independence. How much of it is taken up with loops which do not intrest me?, and how much are nice, but not as good as I have already instruments?

Actually it raises interesting compression questions. The K5 library compressed is 23.1 gigs. Is Sampletank going to ship with 33 gigs of compressed audio files, 33 gigs of wave files or X gigs of compressed files that represent 33 gigs of wave files.

Re: SampleTank 3 coming in July - pre-order and pricing now available 2014/06/13 13:26:22 (permalink)
I found this on the IK site with some details of ST3:

SampleTank 3 - The main official informational threadby Peter_IK » Tue Feb 11, 2014 5:48 pm This is a repost from another forum that I feel should definitely also be here on our official forum, I’ve tried to create the most informative possible about SampleTank 3, and I will share information as clearly as possible.
It is true that 2013 came and went and there was no SampleTank 3. For those unaware, there were some issues and we were not able to release it when we expected to. SampleTank 3 was shown at Winter NAMM 2013 in Anaheim, California from which there are multiple videos (and there was also a mistaken product post from a dealer at that time that has since been removed).
Here is the information we’ve presented so far, I will add anything I may have missed later in the thread if necessary:
SampleTank 3 will be 64-bit only, and you will be able to use previous Powered By SampleTank libraries (Miroslav Philharmonik, SampleMoog, SampleTron, Sonik Synth, Xpansion Tanks, etc) inside SampleTank 3 and it will be definitely possible to import SampleTank 2 combis in SampleTank 3.
Why was it decided that SampleTank 3 will be 64-bit and why was SampleTank 2.5 not updated to provide 64-bit compatibility? See this post
The included library will be over 30GB in size and will include over 3,000 instruments in 20 categories
There are three main sections to the GUI: Play, Mix, and Edit and the new interface is less cluttered with much larger typeface. The Play page has detailed 3D renders of the instruments but can also show a list of the instruments in each slot, volume, pan, MIDI channels, output levels, etc instead.
There will be articulations, round robin, key switching, and velocity switching to bring more realism and control to the SampleTank experience.
The sound quality of the included library is poised to rival that of dedicated libraries while also providing many more of certain types of sounds than the stock library of other products.
SampleTank 3 will include over 50 effects, many of those will be new effects too. There are also effects from flagship products like T-RackS and AmpliTube too. Each of the 16 instrument instrument parts will have 5 insert effects slots. There are 4 stereo FX returns and a Master Channel each with 5 effect slots, too.
There will be 14 types of filters, including analog-modeled filters included.
SampleTank 3 will cost 60% of what SampleTank did when released in 2003 and there will be upgrade pricing, including an extra discount for early adopters of SampleTank 2.
I will add photo and video assets to the thread as time goes, too, this is a good chunk of information to start, though. Thank you for reading.

I made a little fan page, which will mostly focus on what is known (or speculated) about the various instruments, starting with the Grand Pianos.
