SampleTank 3 coming in July - pre-order and pricing now available

IK Multimedia has put up a page for SampleTank 3 with pricing.

So let the ranting begin.  this is just the 1st of many many many pages on SampleTank 3 to come I am sure.
 
For me, it's not worth the $99.99 and I will not be upgrading, plus if I wait a few months there will probably be one of those group buy deep discount etc sales that IK notoriously does.

    79 Euros, is that inclusive of VAT? IMHO its high enough to for it not to be a no brainer for those of us that already have extensive libraries of bread and butter sounds.

    Plus they rescinded on the initial promise of an additional discount for long time users. So it you bought sampletank for 29 dollars last month, you get the 99 upgrade. If you long suffered through dealing with IK abandonment and spent hundreds on the product, you get it for 99 too. They really fundamentally don't get it. Not surprising though.

    The custom shop just went above a half million users though. I have noticed other software companies taking notice. In AD2 you can buy ad paks right from the GUI.....at least I'm pretty sure, correct me if I'm wrong. Will ST3 allow a user to buy sound libraries from the GUI?
     
    I question why anyone who uses Kontakt would want it. What are the advantages over Kontakt?

    Considering that I would be upgrading in order to be able to access the old ST-based instruments, I too think I'll wait until it goes on sale. 
     
    At this point, whether it takes 6 months or 4 years for that to happen, it doesn't make that much of a difference. 
     
    I do wish them luck w/ it, though.

    Ditto. At this point it's a sunk cost. No point in throwing good money after bad especially if one has Kontakt.

    That wouldn't make sense would it...I think IK meant that those who preorder AND have been a long time user will get some sort of "bonus" after the preorder period is over.
     
    Am I right about that, IK??
     
    And I'm guessing the "bonus" will be something like a "free" sound pack or, even better (not), loop pack or somesuch. Not any reduced price or rebated money.

    Fair enough back at you really, since I didn't see it there either and had to ask why and if I should just say so.  However, to answer another question, the bonus will be around the max you can use and based on the intro (not preorder) pricing that will fall a little more than the preorder deal is even after using the JamPoints.  Just trying to be clear so people are aware of that.  So I do rescind one thing - it isn't exactly as simple as I may have stated, but I'm trying to give you the best option you have.  Weighing the wait time, demo, etc in is of course important and doesn't factor into the math, so each person will have a different perspective on what they feel is best for them (or if anything is good for them in this set of options at all)

    At first glance, it looks nice enough to me.

    The price thing does not bother me as much as it seems to bother others. Earlier adopters tend to pay more for any software.The people who got sampletank dirt cheap got it years after the early users had already used all the sounds to death. I don't knownof any software makers that give discounts on upgrades based on how long you have owned product.

    It means:  Preorder is the lowest pricing available, once released we go to intro pricing.  At that time there will be a bonus in JamPoints for long-time users.  After that, there is the full pricing structure.  I thought it made sense, rereading it now but hey I'm aware directly of all this so of course I get it!

    Thanks. I got it now.
    I'll have to start checking on demos and things and see how it sounds relative to what I already have, but 33 gigs of sounds is intriguing. Also me being me see what the response is on getting to make instruments for it. I hope you can reuse the 3D pictures cause you do not want to see me try to make artwork.
