Seriously, we lost a good friend here in the Coffee House as of today.

IMO, this place will never be the same again.

I was informed (via email) that THIS was truly a "good bye" post as far as the Coffee House is concerned from our good friend.

Are you referring to this;
"I refuse to be pigeonholed into posting funny, silly buffoonery only in this thread.  If I don't have the freedom to post sillyness where I want in the Coffee House, then it's no longer fun for me.
so long and thanks for all the fish."

If so, what happened to cause Beagle to think that way?

I was there when he posted that and as always (being in the FSF and all), that comment was not taken seriously. Did someone actually tell him not to post silly stuff anywhere else?

If so, what happened to cause Beagle to think that way?

He filled a full page of the "re-instate Bub" thread with "buffoonery" which, by the time I saw it, he edited to replace with a page full of empty posts and was castigated for bringing down the tone of what was intended to be a serious thread.

I can understand taking the hump at being castrated castigated,  but there is a time and place for buffoonery, and it isn't nessacarily nesseceril always in every CH thread.

Beagle, come home.

Of any place I frequent on the interwebs this IS the most forgiving of them all... seriously(Unfunniness not withstanding).

I can't think of why anyone could get cross at anyone else for that matter because we all understand this mosh pit and as far as I have seen most if not all forgive and forget with no regrets.

Pfft.

Real buffoons don't have thin skin.

 In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.
