Well, I've downloaded X1b and everything seems to be working much better than before with the VS-700.  I managed to go about two days without a crash.  Had the first one this afternoon.

I had made a simple project, five or six tracks total, one midi, the rest audio.  No other apps besides X1b were open.  When I wanted to bounce the project to a track I was only trying to select two of the audio tracks.  All others were muted, the midi trick archived.  There were no plugins in use except two instances of Sonitus reverb and Boost11_64.  I marked the two tracks I wanted to bounce by holding down 'shift' on the keyboard and clicking the track numbers with the mouse.  I noticed that the two tracks didn't 'black out' to show they were marked for bouncing.  That was because the volume automation was still selected on both.  So I clicked the little down arrow by the 'volume' button on one of the tracks to return it to clip mode.  SONAR crashed when I did that.  Bizarre.

One edit to the previous post...On re-opening that project I see that there there was also an instance of VX_64 Vocal Strip open on one of the muted clips...

Another crash!  Doing exactly the same thing.   Exact same project described above.  When I clicked the 'volume' button to end volume automation editing and return to 'clip' mode, SONAR crashed.

I had tried to repeat this when I first re-opened the project and couldn't do it.  Then when I got back to work...

I havent got as far as this in a X1 project yet but as soon as I can I will try replicate it

I couldn't make that crash happen on purpose, Norrie.  maybe you can.   I tried several times.  I had even done the same operation several times in regular use without any problem.  Then all of a sudden...GOTCHA .  At least I know when to back up.  I haven't had any other problems at all.

I love the way X1b works when it's working right.  Most Everything is greatly improved over 8.5 so far as ease of use goes.  It's gonna be a champ when they get the bugs out.

I should add, I actually did manage to finish up that little project entirely in X1b.  That's progress.  I had been unable to complete even a small project like this one with X1a.

What about previously missing features of integration - has the situation improved with X1 ?

e.g.

- Zoom in the PRV via VS700c
- control more than 8 Layers (using fader bank +/- 8 buttons)

Finally back on the 'net after moving house.... anyways...

I got my humble studio relocated and running yesterday in the new temp location and have now spent a few hours with X1b and the 700 setup.... definitely some serious improvements Grent... I'm a little chuffed about some of the things available now from the surface in a workflow friendly manner but there were some quirks which I hope to document tonight and query with everyone else... couple of (hopefully) isolated oddities.

Overall so far though... have to say I'm pleased with the improvements... the 700C in particular seems more serious and purpose built to this user under X1b.... haven't gone back to 8.5.3 since actually.

I know it has been discussed and I've read all the threads about it but haven't found real answers about everything disscused above, just unclear and vague statements. As you proposed, I'll start a separate thread and delete my post not to interfer with your topic.

Is it possible to create SENDS or just to control SENDS (once created per mouse) ?
