I'm gonna lose my postcount in all this. I just know it. It's all about me I'm pretty sure.

Dang you FSF!!!

Don't worry about your post count, it's safe.

There's no one left to take it off you now!

You might not have anywhere to park it soon but that's another matter, at least you can say you went down as top dog.

im pretty sure they may let you cash in your forum post points for a cakewalk cup,or possibly a pen?
atleast now i know im not the only one who realises something is going down.
like i said though,i could be trippin.

Or a custom "Bapu" plug-in.  It won't do anything to your music, but while you're mixing it will log into the Cakewalk forums and reply to threads randomly to increase your post count.

All I know is that when/if they DO get new forum software, we're all going to be back to zero post counts!

We will be seeing bigger changes just as I predicted (like others who have seen these types "partnerships" before) back when Cakewalk was taken over by Roland.

Some will love the changes, others will be more upset than those who are upset today over the state of X2a.

Mark my words.

BTW, I'm not a doomsday person, just a realist.

With all do respect, I believe that, "corporate restructuring," may only be part of the story, and the I think its up for debate exactly how much of the story it is.

I believe this has to do with the current economic environment, the fact the economy has not gotten better, and the changes to healthcare that will be enforce in 2014, the cost of employees, and how those costs are about to skyrocket.

This country has no idea.

STOP SIGN = TOS

Just the other day I was thinking to myself.  OK, if middle class incomes in America have remained stagnant for 30+ years, than exactly how much richer was the average American Family in 1976, when a car was maybe $6,000, and a big house was maybe $50,000.

Inflation will continue to destroy our once vast middle class, and crumbling education will leave a society of ignorance..  Has left a society of ignorants...

STOP STOP, MAJOR RED LIGHT = TOS

too many lasers...

I hereby urge the new overlords of Cake/Roland/Boss/Insert your corporate identity here to simply gaze at the beatific avatar to the left of this post. That's right, gaze longingly and lovingly.  Is it not the face and the iconic symbol, if you will, of the "new" corporate identity you are looking for? I'm pretty sure the answer is a resounding YES!!!!

I urge you at your earliest convenience to contact me via PM and discuss my endorsement of your products and services...and my remuneration for same.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

How valuable is being top dog, if there is no becan award?

Linear, I think you have some valid points, but so does Bapu: corporate restructuring almost never goes well for the former employees.  Also, as the corporate culture changes, the new environment may not be to the liking of the old employees, and some of them have/will/may seek other options, more in keeping with a working environment they prefer.

OTOH, I think your comments about the current state of affairs are fairly spot-on.

The roster of ex-cakewalkers is almost as long as the list of ex-forum participants. We probably shouldn't read too much into it, though. High turnover at tech companies is normal  - it's how you get a raise.

I'd hope he'd land someplace like Spectrasonics where his particular skillset would be well-suited and appreciated. But more likely he'll wind up in an unrelated industry, which has been the case for other Cakewalk expats.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

It is kinda funny that he didn't do the big "goodbye" from his official Cakewalk admin account though. That suggests to me that the whole thing happened kinda quickly.

Don't know what motivated Seth's departure but the industry isn't getting better.

A few weeks ago I read that for the first time ever, a lite version of Pro Tools would be bundled w/ 3rd party products (namely, M-Audio and Akai). Which is kind of silly when you consider that Avid dropped M-Audio last summer. They also announced a new CEO last week.

Also, after unlocking Pro Tools HD from Avid hardware, they now seem to take a step back, as the software will indeed work w/ 3rd party interfaces but can no longer be bought separately from the HD interface.

W/ all this back and forth, cutting this and that and seeking new strategic alliances leaves me w/ an impression that the giant is actually bleeding to death.

Not sure Roland would struggle so desperately to keep Cakewalk alive.

OTOH, not every takeover is bad. From the outside, Steinberg seems to be in good hands w/ Yamaha.

Rain, the red ink/vulture capitalists/bad decision makers at Avid are headed towards the land of business legend.  When they purchased Pinnacle to integrate with their main stuff they paid something like $62 million, IIRC (or was it $52M?).  When they dumped it, they sold it to Canadian Corelle (!!) for $3 million, IIRC.  They've been running Avid that way for the past few years.  At least the former Sibelius employees landed somewhere beneficial.

This is how the world is now. I'm actually feeling nauseous right now because I went through this a while ago and it's conjuring up some bad memories. My wife went through this too ... but she's a couple of incredibly expensive pieces of paper hanging on the wall that guarantee's her safety. That's how the worlds going these days.

I bet Brandon's feeling really bummed now seeing how he got pulled in to Roland's fold and Seth didn't.

I know - which is why the news is silly. But apparently they've teamed up w/ inMusic Brands, new owners of M-Audio and AIR - the two of which have been dropped by Avid last summer - as well as Akai, Alesis and a bunch of others.

It's a sorry state of affairs, but unfortunately it's systemic. At the moment this departure sucks, but at least they didn't wait until he had 25 years and was 50+. Cough, cough...Hmm.

I wish the young man well and hope this isn't the beginning of the end for Cake. Big corporations buy and sell divisions just for the exercise. Harsh, but true. I knew it was an omen when my account got fouled up and the forum thinks I'm a new user with almost no post count. Bapu would be in chills and sweats by now.

Who's left to fix my account? Willie?...Brandon?...Seth?....Anybody? Tap, tap, tap,..... Is this thing on?
