I don't say this lightly, but this is the best vocal performance I've heard on this forum. Great guitar solo with a great build up at the end of it. Just a great piece of work here by both of you guys. Randy

A candidate for the Songs Forum Hall of Fame, fer sure. This would fit right in to the playlist on any Christian Rock radio station. (Yeh, I admit it; one of my guilty pleasures is Christian Rock, which, when it's this good, you don't have to be a Christian to enjoy.)

Ed & Frank: When Philip made a mention to me that he posted this song, when I came to check in on it, I thought the same thing when I saw the title. LOL! Nah, I don't think it was a ploy. I didn't even know he was going to post this to be honest and you know Philip, he's not one that ever does the "ploy" thing. :) Aww, I was just kiddin'... Ireally just wanted to use "me thinks" in a sentence... (grin;-) I'm glad you're not leaving us... And thanks for the nice words on "It's All Good"

Thoroughly enjoyed this throughout. The song itself is very strong in melody and that is one of the best vocal takes Ive ever heard from you (albeit I though you might have been straining a little too much now and again for the very high notes). There is one chord change in particular that just releases a little bit of oxytocin into my brain when I hear it! lol (1:41 & 1:46), those harmony layers are to die for man! Attention to detail & overall production is Danzi standard, which we come to expect. Radio Ready and radio friendly and like bitflipper said, I wouldnt of known this was christian song at all, which makes it universally appealing. Well done men, Cian

Right on, Danny. I was actually thinking your skills would work well for some of my more eclectic rock/alt/weirdo stuff. Lots of weird patterns I'm having a hard time nailing with the pK. Gonna take a long time before I'm ready to put that down though. I'm just sticking to basics for now until I learn more and get my chops up to speed again. BTW... I was only just getting started with that theory stuff so lemme know if you want more. It was pleasure and you are more than deserving. Cheers, dude.

WELL.....this is great, i mean it's amazingly well-played and recorded, the solo is awesome, it sounds like a Bon Jovi or Journey epic...but... it sounds nothing like a Philip song. There is nothing original or unique about it, which is the true hallmark of your stuff. No quirky instrumentation or weird juxtaposition of dance and cabaret. no young voices. if i had didn't know, i would have said you weren't involved at all. which is sad.

Randy: Wow, totally speechless after that! Thank you so much bro! I know you never say anything lightly or sugar coat. You made my night...just wow! Can't thank you enough! I appreciate the most kind words and to have you stop around for this. Really means a lot to me! Bit: Oh man, between you and Randy....I'm ready to explode with happiness over here. Such an awesome compliment, thank you so much! It's really great to see you taking part in the song forum a bit more. Thanks again Dave...I'm smiling from ear to ear over here. :) Makke: Thanks for the listen and the kind words. Glad you enjoyed it. Frank: Hahaha, yeah I know you were kiddin'. :) But I honestly didn't know he was going to post this because well, though he wrote the original song and the words, I did all of the performance parts so I didn't think he's post it. I'm glad he did though. Thanks again. Tom: thanks bro! Nah no worries, I think you'll be stuck with me for a few more decades. :) Oh man, that Dream Theater cover you did...really well done. I posted comments to it 2 times and for some reason, the forum kept on taking a dump on me every time I hit submit. I mean to go back and post again and have been so swamped with work. I really enjoyed that though. I've done a few of their pieces as well just to challenge myself. Never a dull moment with DT...it keeps you on your toes at all times, that's for sure. I don't know what's worse...nailing Petrucci's guitar lines or Portnoy's drums....they both beat me to death when I do that stuff. The most complete one I did was Pull Me Under. It took me about 6 months to do...never again. LOL! Cian: Thanks a lot man! Yeah, I sometimes don't have much left in my vocal pipes after singing all day. Between my own stuff and client stuff, hours and hours of this stuff beats me up. And the over-dubs...man, sometimes I sing something 40 times before I like it. By the time you hit take 40, you're getting a little hoarse...a little raspy. But I'm totally against any kind of tuning on my lead vocals, so I always keep at them until I nail them. But sometimes...yeah, a bit of straining going on for sure. When I'm fresh though, I usually don't get that. It also depends on how many (uggh, I know...you'll beat me up for this) cigs I smoke. I try not to abuse it and stay at about half a pack...but I know it definitely takes a toll on me as the night goes on. Thanks so much, I appreciate the comments and the listen. Beeps: Don't go too nuts on me with weird timings! LOL!! I'm not THAT good bro. Hahaha! That last song you posted....I could probably never play drums good enough for you if you asked me to play on that song. LOL!!!! You'll have to go easy on me. :) mgh: Thanks for the kind words and the listen. Yeah, Philip wanted a re-write of another song he did which really doesn't sound anything like this one other than the words and a few of the melodies. When I presented the rough draft of it to him, he liked it just the way it was. We tried to add a bit of his stuff to it, but because of my style being a bit more of the focal point in this version, (since I had to complete it to show him my vision for the song) it was a mutual agreement that we would leave the song as is. He wanted me to go all out and be myself on it so it was planned that way THIS particular time. We really did try to add some of the quirkiness and hallmark stuff that makes him who he is. It just didn't totally fit for this. We struggled with that for a few weeks and tried numerous approaches. Once I gave Philip the final version of this, I specifically made a mention that he could add in whatever he wanted since it was his song. I try not to get married to anything we do so it doesn't stifle his creativity. But for this one....he, first and foremost, thought it was best to go with what I came up with. Thanks again. -Danny

Thanks all for your most generous words and kind suggestions. Randy and Bit, I'm ecstatic by your reception ... 'very glad to see you in these parts. Cian, I'll listen later to your noted sections. I'm always glad to hear from you. Bapu: I hope one day we will work together :):):):):):) I know you validated this! :):):) ... Ben and Mark (MGH) ... you are absolutely correct: both in your ponderings and excellent wordings. While I wrote the song and lyrics ... that was in a BiaB country mode ... a quirky country emulation of our late Jimmyman and Merle Haggard ... a doleful exercise in euphonics which you all didn't love. (Alabama folk may seem to prefer the doleful childlike simplicity of the original version.) So I sought revenge for stifling the original version. We tried Philip and the kids here ... with Danny ... but we cramped his urgent vibe ... this song seemed best sung by the inspired soloist. Danny kept my chord progressions, kept the Key of C and circle of 5ths going (the white keys) ... and sung my lyrics faithfully ... without deviating a word. But he re-arranged the melodics, the counter points, etc. and used his groove, and repeated a couple of ('spiritual') verses toward the end. I prayed Danny would 'breath' the lover's cry into this on a higher level ... a level that I may never reach in this lifetime. About the only thing I nagged him for was to ultra-clarify and increase the essing of the lyrics in the 2nd half (which some of you noticed!!!), as many rock stars of this genre are a bit incoherent (IMHO). You are all a great encouragement in these trying days you and I must bear! Utmost blessings all!

Danny Danzi Scotty: Hahaha thank you bro. What an awesome compliment! :) I just think about how it might have sounded if I had you in there playing those orchestra parts! I honestly almost pm'd you on this as I was experimenting. But I figured, I'd probably not be able to afford you and well, I really wanted to try and tackle it and think like an orchestrator for a change. Thanks so much again. -Danny You did mighty fine, Danny. Having me in there would have screwed it all up, I'm sure.

LOL - Danny, it often surprises me how people see me on the forums. I might not have said it before but I have nothing but respect for you and your talent. I think the only thing we ever disagreed on was reverb (and I do tend to tease you about your verbosity hehehe). As far as this song goes, it is IMO a testament to both of your talents. I always though Philip had some wild and fantastic musical ideas (envious a bit truth be told), and combined with your skill, it seems almost the perfect match. I cannot think how anybody could do better. To me you brought each other to a new level.

Scotty: Thanks! I tried hard....I know you don't get that fiddle ambience and the bow scrapage (which I love) but you dod the best with what ya have. LOL! :) Beeps: Well, we could pull off a little DT if you want to. I'm sure I can coax myself into it. LOL! I forgot...about a year ago, I did that song "6 o'clock"....now THAT was a nightmare to play on drums. I have it around here somewhere....I remember having blisters on my hands for a month after learning that one. Hahaha! Yeah, when you're ready, let me know. Shad: Yeah, I get that too. Sometimes people don't know how to take ya. What I meant by the "hard sell" thing is, I think you're a lot like me. It's rare we just drop in and say "nice job" and leave a post. I think it's cool to give some insight to the creator especially if it's someone you know wants to know the details. I mean granted, you know there are some that really are just enjoying the aspect of creating music so they may not want us to rip their song apart. Some have limited resources....I think it's important to keep that stuff in mind. What sucks is, sometimes you get taken the wrong way when commenting a bit more in depth. It's never EVER been my intent to hurt anyone or deter their progress. I feel you're on the same page as me there as you go out of your way to explain things too when you feel the need. Thanks for the kind words, I respect your talent too and have been listening to your songs a bit over the months. I only disagreed on the reverb thing because I'm a recovering verb addict. LOL! On my first album, one of the critics mentioned "dude, you put the verb in reverb for crying out loud!" It hurt to hear that...but man, it was so true. So I've been fighting with that for a long time and have since curbed most of it. LOL! Well yeah, you're stuck with my verbosity....that's just me being me. Hahahaha! I agree on your comments about Philip. I'm a bit envious myself to be honest because he has this uncanny way of just being different and it's become his signature. I'm a bit more straight forward...too polished at times, but that's how I trained myself. I'm glad you think we make a good team...thanks for that. I really enjoy working with him because he's such a pure and genuine soul. He lives for God and totally loves his music and family and it comes out in the music. Knowing the guy personally compared to what most people know of him on the forum....it really can't even be compared. It's funny...sometimes we send messages to each other saying how happy we are to have met and bonded like we have. We challenge each other in ways that wouldn't happen any other way. I think he challenges me more than I challenge him though. It's good though because it has helped me to grow and expand doing things I would have never done without him being involved. Glad it's coming across that way to you...thanks a lot brother. :) Yeah I know...."brevity Danny, brevity". LOL! Everytime I make a post to you, I keep thinking of Nestor the long eared Christmas Donkey. He would trip and fall over his ears and his mom would say "ears Nestor". I talk to you, and I keep hearing "brevity Danny". LMAO! :-Þ Old55: Thanks for the listen, glad you liked it! :) -Danny

Heh... thanks, man but this is all problems with the new place. They half arsed the fix up/clean up and it's taking up a lot of my time. Pretty annoyed with that. I've also had some issues getting my tools over here to build my new desks. All in good time. Just getting a little itchy to put my head down and start cranking out some tunes.

Beeps: Ah ok, thought it may have been a pc issue or something with Sonar. Good luck getting that all sorted. Speaking of new desks....I just had one built for the new console I'm running. The console power supply just blew out about 3 hours ago....uggh! I'm hoping I can get it fixed, but if not I'm going to be stuck switching back to my analog console...which will not fit the desk I had built. I'm hoping it's just the console power supply and not the console itself.....never ends I tell ya. Chuck: Thanks so much man! Glad you liked it. Meant to mention this before, but I'm truly sorry to hear all that you've been through with your house....been keeping you in my prayers. I hope all that is working out for you, but I know it's probably a nightmare. Hang in there man...if you need anything, let me know. Starise: Thank you! Appreciate the most kind words and the listen. Darryl: The same thing happens to me. I listen and could have sworn I commented yet low and behold, I didn't. It's quite alright...thank you for checking us out and for the kind words. :) Cian: Oh I know man....I was totally with you on what you said. I appreciate the feedback. Sometimes I also try and be a little too dramatic with my voice. Though I'm a light smoker, my voice is pretty clean so it's tough to get the rasp I want to get sometimes...so I try to push with a little throat to compensate for it. I've not been able to nail that yet. Thanks again! -Danny
